Yes, this is really happening! I have been unfriended on facebook and accused of being transphobic for not agreeing with the "Transwomen are Women" statement. I have been harassed by transpeople on Twitter for not affirming my ROGD teenage daughter's gender identity. I made a comment on an NBC news story about JK Rowling's "transphobic" tweet in support of JK and someone I don't know took a screenshot and sent it to my employer saying that my views created an unsafe environment for transpeople where I work!
@eye behiding WOW! Yes, it is insane! I suppose it's not surprising when believing in gender identity requires people to give up their grasp on reality.
@@helenspielbauer5401 Yep. And as I'm sure you know, there is no civil discourse with them. You can be as open and warm and nice and respectful as any human ever was and you'll still never have a productive discussion because anything that's not 100% aligned with their fixed narratives (this includes questions) is transphobic and you're now too far beneath them to be entertained. I hope your daughter is doing okay. I'm so sorry this all has happened to you. It's occurred to me many times that there needs to be an official, unified support coalition for women who have been bullied, harassed, or otherwise traumatized by trans activists
A long time ago before any of this kicked off I used to say :I will be the first up against the wall: I was one of the first people in the UK to campaign for same sex marriage yet now I am a facist! go figure !
Chuckling because I’m knitting as I’m listening to this. The “diverseknitty” hubbub wasn’t even the only time this has happened in the knitting community, especially on Instagram. It really is madness, and if you are perceived to not be toeing the line properly, you will absolutely be destroyed, or “cancelled”. There’s a series of Medium articles about cancel culture in the knitting community that I highly recommend. Anyhow, you’ve got a new subscriber in me, and I’m recommending your channel to my gencrit and radfem friends, and I’ll be sharing this video in my online radfem knitting group. Keep up the great work!
Here from Benjamin's channel and starting with this video! Thank you so much for sharing your rational and sympathetic voice-it's very much needed, and such a delight to hear.
the father of my children (oops) other parent, is trans, did the whole 9 yards 25 years ago. My now adult children won't talk to me because I shared some of the emotional abuse I went through before the divorce. It has gotten so toxic. My sons feel guilty that they had such a hard time as children when they lost having a father. Just, wow.
Excellently presented Arty, I’ve noticed a massive swing to intolerance of opinion if Biology is mentioned, especially if it’s from a woman, JK for instance, this behaviour of mass harassing and vilification is out of control, and I worry for the mental health of the victims of this unrelating abuse.
I was summoned into my 17 year old son's school head recently because my "views" on biology went against their views of "anyone can identify to any gender." It was a surreal moment, I was being heavily warned not for abusing, neglecting or anything other than stating the truth. Bizarre & disturbing 😳
I had a dream/nightmare some time ago that I was put on trial and found guilty of murder then sentenced to death for words that I used (denying someone’s gender identity/pronouns). The person I supposedly killed was in court, continuing to go about their life while I was to be put to death for saying something they found offensive. This topic has so permeated and been assimilated into groupthink that I don’t even find it to be outside the realm of possibility. When 20-something year old men can physically attack a 60 year old woman who was simply recording an event (yes, that situation) and have the group applaud the men and condemn the woman, I don’t feel it’s such a grand leap to my nightmare scenario. The really extraordinary thing is that I’m a socialist and find the whole trans movement to be homophobic and extremely capitalist in nature yet I’ve been rejected from the political identity I embrace because of my unwillingness to deny science in the face of their religion. You’re doing great work here, Arty. I know this is an older video but I’ve been binging much of your content and this one just hit that nerve for me lol
Amazing video!!!!!! Thank you once again. As I was once told, "Common sense isn't so common anymore." Thank you for, again, being a voice of reason. I recently shared your page, and hope you get more views. The whole world needs to see this, so we can start to let sanity prevail once again.
Hi Arty, I saw you on Benjamin's channel. Good for you! It's refreshing to hear some honest and sensible thinking on this topic. I wish you success on your journey to find sense in this messy thing we call life x
This is the absolute best video that I’ve seen on the subject after thinking about it and consuming material about it for more than 2 years. Thank you so much for your work, Arty. I’ve been tormented by this issue for a long time and now feel that you’ve clarified it for me. There was another video you made where you talked about a type of transsexual which bases their identity on a psychological need to make themselves sexually available to straight men, or something like that. I’m almost 31, and I do feel now that if I was 14 in this day and age I would be currently identifying as trans, and probably would have had extensive surgery/medication. I enjoy the idea of cross-dressing as a sexual fetish played out in private with other men, but that’s it. As a kid I’d look at myself in the mirror and imagine that I was a girl, but I was a child still forming at the time, and it terrifies me that if I’d shared my feelings with my deeply homophobic father, he might have slated me for surgery to “fix my gender”.
Thank you, thank you, thank you, THANK YOU! The part in the beginning where you mentioned that there is no 'cap' to certain belief systems is where things begin to unfold. If the trans community were to come with a doctrine of shared beliefs and limitations as to what they're all about (within reason) then we could all engage in a conversation of how we're going to progress as a society. But some people would argue that "human rights aren't up for discussion". While that is true, you just can't tell people that "this is a thing now, and you're going to deal with it in the way that I tell you to deal with it, even if some of it is to your detriment and inevitably harmful." It's like if someone slides a cup into the sink while you're washing dishes, you don't mind. Someone slides in a small plate, you don't mind. Someone slides in a greasy casserole dish, you start to complain. Someone brings you a burnt frying pan, you're definitely going to resist. And when someone brings you a truckload of dishes they've been hiding in their room that's when you say it's the last straw. They keep adding and adding more ridiculous things for us to stomach and "get over" when not trying to understand how we're being affected. "Just shut up and take our dirty dishes."
The market point is an excellent one. And it plays directly into the idea that the woke moral schema is an eminently gameable system. It is quite easy to generate these tokens of virtue without doing anything material, to display and trade them, and to thereby accrue massive moral wealth. It's bitcoin morality. These people are mining for riches in a virtual mine, accessible only to those who have already amassed a certain array of moral chits.
That British MP is Dawn Butler. Some of the female MPs from the Labour side have some batty opinions about trans issues. This has gone down well with the general public who really are not buying into their tales. This woke version of our left wing party died at the last election so I'm not sure why they have continued on this path.
Lesbian supporter here, wondering what your views on the ftm side are. Thank you for your very eloquent explanations and for speaking out as a gay man, we have not heard as much from them. Keep it up!
That point about no distinctions in order to virtue signal by well meaning but ultimately dumb people is really. "The banality of evil" and all that. Good job.
Well done, and sad that the "more X than thou" crowd is so influential more than two years after your video. Eventually they'll turn on each other, but I don't know if we can afford to wait that long.
Thanks for this I've been trying to explain this to people but couldn't quiet get into words. I have friends whom act like this in terms of any sort of activism and sometimes I have contrary opinions and criticisms that for the most part keep to myself out of fear of losing them of friends but sometimes I let my feelings out like I said I was supportive of kids exploring their gender identity but Im also skeptical and worried they aren't just being manipulated by their parents and outside environment ie far left progressives who are aggressive. That kids shouldn't jump into the idea of being trans at such a young age. That at age 9 their too young to make such serious and final decision. Idk its probably an unpopular opinion but I have my opinions and I can't understand how people can be ostracize and end friendships over them. It also scares me how easily people get swept in the mob mentality.
Going by your most recent tweets I would like to see a remake of this video with regard to the "Twitter GC" community. As someone who's been following this topic a long time, I find it a real shame so many brave people who stood up to trans-activists are being silenced by intolerant feminists.
The knittting meltdown is also how a former Democrat became a powerful voice on ‘the other side’. Dr. Karlyn Borysenko is an independent thinker and appears to be a lovely human being. No, if I lived in the USA I would not have gone as far as she did. Nevertheless, I enjoy following her journey.
In her case, I do believe that she tired of how irrational many people on the left have become, but most of us who feel that way don’t jump ship and head for the republicans, proudly touting our support for Trump along the way. What she did, which is switch teams so that she can preach to the choir, rather than saying “I’m still liberal, but I disagree with many positions and ideas held by, what I believe is a small but very loud minority” what she did takes no courage, and also happens to be the way to make money in this crazy social media driven world. There is no logical step you take from being a leftist, deciding you think a lot of what leftists are touting is harmful and anti scientific, and then loving Trump. Saying you love Trump, especially as a “former liberal”, gay, lesbian, trans or black person, wins you a lot of points(money) with conservatives who can’t accept that their core values are anathema to the rights of those people. I am extremely skeptical of gender ideology, but I don’t constantly make it a political issue. It’s perfectly acceptable to point out that it is the progressives who are leading the charge, leaving all reason and logic in their wake, but to constantly be like “the left this, the left that” is, well, intellectually lazy. And it further sews division, which is what the people at the top want.
