I've been here. It is awe inspiring. I'll never forget the monk who gave us the tour.
I found the Jain philosophy so interesting. The sculpture is intricate and it is all in prestine state.
One of the persons in this video says Ranakpur is "a little jewel in the forest". I'd say it's a treasure.
My favorite is the carved ceiling featured on 9:03 . Neither photographs nor video do it justice. If it is within your power, go. This is a bucket list kind of place.

I was in Ranakpur Jain temple and my friend was saying "I don't feel any attachment to it because it's a Jain temple"... (we both are Hindus).... and I was like, dude it's Indian Heritage..... just look at the intricate carvings, just imagine how did the Indian people made such a marvellous structure 500 years ago.......... I wonder why do people bring their religion everywhere..... I enjoyed a lot while my friend felt weird walking into a Jain temple... I hope people give less importance to religion and look beyond the limits of Religion..... Even Delwara Jain temples in Mount Abu are amazing......

Jainism is the oldest religion believe it or not.

Don't know the reason why these kind of temples aren't mentioned in our Textbooks!
But Tombs are glorified where the rulers cut the hands of sculptors!!

    British rule
Historians estimate that between 30,000 and 60,000 Hindu temples were destroyed during British rule. These acts were often motivated by a desire to weaken Indian culture and suppress religious practices.
    Muslim rule
Hindutva ideologues estimate that 60,000 temples were demolished under Muslim rule in India. However, some say that the precise number of temples desecrated can never be known.
    Mughal rule
Former Karnataka minister KS Eshwarappa claimed that the Mughals destroyed 36,000 temples during their reign

In reality Hindus were not supposed to make temple . Vedic hymns Hindus use to do yagyas only.
Temple building traditions were started by Sharmanas.
But due to their power ful philosophy Hindu started competiting them and also started building temples. Originally Tamilnadu Karnataka, Andra was also 👍 nayed by shramans .

I heard thousands of Temples were destroyed during Mughal Invasions. Why isn't an official estimate carried out ?

@Chen-gl9dude Hinduism is the child of Vedic culture and Shramana. Shramanas agreed to the authority of Vedas this resulted in present day Hinduism. Shramanas who didn't agree the authority of Vedas gave rise to Jainism and Buddhism.

Our heritage, our gurus and our commitment to preserve and respect their teachings. Divisiveness was not taught to us but created by the invaders. So every creation in this land is our common heritage and an ode to our grand artists and their imagery.
