Kryptonians didn't leave Krypton because of a device known as the Eradicator that "bound their souls" to the planet. Any Kryptonian that left would die. This is why, outside of Daxam and Kandor, there are no Kryptonian space colonies or a Kryptonian galactic empire. Because of the circumstances of his birth Kal El may have been exempt.
It was due to the cloning chambers and matrix within it, with superman being the first natural birth in generations he wasnt bound by it. I can not recall when and where I remember this from however, maybe someone else does.

@@korrazula I agree with you but the way that Kryptonians are written in the story, it looks very non-sensical. They were interstellar and had many colonies and outposts. But somehow their whole species was extinguished with one planet being destroyed, in a completely predictable way.
It should have been done like how the Invincible universe handles a similarly positioned powerful species that has extremely reduced numbers.
@@GelloWello part of me wonders how much outside manipulation was invovled in things going down on Krypton the way that it did. For instance: in the Timmverse DCAU Brainiac delibrately discredited jor-el's efforts to warn people the end was coming. he was an AI working for THEM, not an alien from Colu. there have been various side stories where the Guardians of Oa (green lanterns) KNEW what was going to happen...but decided not to intervene. Remember that in at least one continuity, the same guardians massively edited the martian genome to make thier species "safer" for the galaxy.(the Burning WERE a threat, but still) I'm sure they realized just how dangerous an expansionist Kryptonian society could be outside of thier red sun home system...and it would not at all be out of character for them to quietly ...take steps. These are the guardians of WILLPOWER...compassion is for other folks. Just like it's not an accident that the cousin species from Daxam are all deathly allergic to one of the most common minerals around...lead.

It actually is not "nonsensical" otherwise you should know that Krypton had very strict religious/orthodox beliefs, some of the officials were isolationists, in the 1980's origin story of Krptonians, it is written that Kryptonians performed genetic modifications for centuries on themselves and as well as on their environment, Krypton had a very harsh environment with a very high gravity. Because of the genetic medications they were able to adapt and survive much faster without going through long evolutions but it also created another issue they couldn't leave Krypton because of its carefully balanced and modified environment, Superman's father Jor El removed this genetic flaw from his Genome also he was conceived naturally. Jor el and a few other scientists were the only kryptonians who were radical, they warned the superiors about the unstable core of Krypton but they refused to listen because they are to xenophobic. Another thing is that they didn't know about the powers they would gain from Yellow, blue, white stars as well as from Quasars and Pulsars. There was also the Eradicator who would not let any Kryptonians to leave the planet
How would a Kryptonian's physiology react to a blue star? A blue giant? Would he have different powers or stronger powers or none at all? Has this been explored in the comics? Im curious.
Edit: I looked it up and blue sun energy gave supes the power to gift his powers to others.

Theroetically, and if we follow the logic of the Canon, being that the radiation from the sun gives him his abilities, then a stronger Burning sun (which is brighter and more energy output) means supes would be stronger.
H'el was exposed to a quasar and got a shit ton of extra powers. Telepathy, telekinesis, matter manipulation, Teleportation,etc. Strange visitor Suparman is just a really old superman who has been around places and he held back entropy with his mere existence.
Blue stars give them even more power, and apparently 'Superman Vision', which allows them to give humans Kryptonian powers. However, details vary from version to version of Superman, so I'm not sure if it applies in most universes. Either way, it's usually not plot-relevant, so there'd be no way to know.
Actually Blue kryptonite made Superman infinetely overpowered, so the blue star, especially a ultra giant would make Lex Luthor think twice about making Superman angry!
In the original script for the Snider Superman movie, they were planning to change the origin of Superman's powers. That it was a combination of Earth's atmosphere/biosphere along with its yellow sun that gave have him powers. Meaning Superman needed to eventually return to Earth itself for a time or even under yellow sun he start to lose his powers. The idea behind this was Kyrton didn't know about this, in fact no one knew about Earth and its peculator effect on Kyrtonians.
The reason why Kryptonians didnt go to Yellow Sun not becos they hate it but they didnt know about it. On Krypton their powers were always restricted by Kryptonite. This is why Superman was extremely weak whenever Luthor or other villians used Kryptonite on him. Thus, Kryptonians were always weakened by Kryptonite without realizing it and never realized their full potential until Superman reached Earth. Superman grew up never needing the advanced technology of Kryptonians becos he was so spoiled with his gifts and powers. Batman on the other hand "needs" technology to fight Superman and even if theyre both capable and smart, Batman is more tech saavy than Superman.
Actually there was no kryptonite on krypton. At least not the version that harms them and causes power loss. Kryptonite is pieces of krypton that were infused with a type of radiation that was created during the planets explosion. So before the destruction of the planet it was just plain old rock.
Now how some their whole species was wiped out of the mastered Inter-dimensional travel, and interstellar travel. In short it makes no sense for Superman to be the only one
One of the basics of the superman origin story is that kryptonians did not have any powers in their home planet and no writer has the balls to change that
But if I was writer I will state that kryptonians have always known about their powers even though they could have of overcome the weaknesses of a lack of a yellow sun by creating rings that store solar energy.
They had no interest those powers because they created many different devices that can do a lot of things they could not do with their powers
The following is based on the Post-"Crisis on Infinite Earths" Superman.
They weren't restricted by Kryptonite on Krypton because it didn't exist until the explosion of Krypton. The explosion changed some of the materials of Krypton into kryptonite. At first only one piece of kryptonite arrived on Earth, it was a piece lodged into Superman's rocket. Later more came to Earth.
Also, kryptonite is also lethal to humans although it takes longer to kill them, and they can recover if it is removed in. Lex Luthor was exposed to kryptonite for months via a jewel he wore in his ring (he was told that it was harmless to humans), and eventually it cost him his hand and then his body. He only survived by stripping away the diseased tissue (leaving only his brain, eyes, and part of his spinal column), and cloning a new body around it.
The reason Kryptonians didn't have powers on Krypton was due there being no yellow sun. Yellow sun radiation charges a kryptonian's cells like a solar capacitor and over time he/she gains superpowers on Earth. Superman didn't gain his full powers until he was a young adult. Red sun radiation doesn't charge a kryptonian's cells so they had no super powers on Krypton.
Related: Daxamites are related to Kryptonians although it is not sure which came from the other. However, based on my reading there are some significant differences: (1) Daxamites are fatally allergic to lead and it will kill them unless it is removed, and the weakness they acquire is permanent and cumulative, (2) Daxamites are slightly stronger than Kryptonians under a yellow sun, and (3) while Kryptonians are like a solar capacitor, Daxamites are like a solar panel. When exposed to yellow sun radiation Daxamites are instantly at full power but if cut off from yellow sun radiation they are immediately powerless.
If on another planet I had superpowers that would be awesome it’s like I’m Superman
It would be one thing if it just made them stronger, but it does much more. Its turns them into a god, literally able to go blow for blow with beings like Trigon. At very least SOME kyrptonians would've sought that out and they would be huge players in the DCU

The kryptonian did not have any free will. They were forced to live on their planet untill it get desyroyed.
This has always been a major plot hole in the story but lets not forget that Earths atmosphere is not breathable to Kryptonians.

There is a planet in DC lore that gives regular humans Superman level powers, Batman visited this world and gained his abilities I believe. It was from like a rare purple star or something like that.

Krypton was a very advanced civilization because of its vast technological knowledge. They were exploring space before the airplane was invented on Earth. I think Earth was considered a very primitive planet, someplace they didn’t want to go. But as you said, I think most of them weren’t aware of how powerful they would be there. Jor-El was one of the top scientists, he knew more than most. The average citizen was probably unaware they would be a “Superman” on Earth. And while they had the ability to space travel, not the ability for everyone to space travel. I’m sure only a small fraction of the population could actually leave the planet. I think also until the immediate past,Krypton was mostly a wonderful planet to live on. But civil war over fighting over the last few resources made it difficult to live there. Zod himself didn’t even want to go to Earth and if he alone was there , he would be ruler.

If earth suffered the same fate as Krypton did, I'd build my own spaceship and create a magnifying lens to charge as fast and as much as it possibly is to be the most powerful Superman possible! I would charge in sections each time getting stronger and gaining more powers until not even kryptonite can harm me! I'd be as indestructable as Doomsday, immortal like Lobo, faster than even the flash and at the same time be even more powerful as Superman in the 60's and 70's during the industrial sci-fi days! They made Shazam and Superman so powerful, they were indestructable and the bad guys were scared if Lois even said their names to the villians! Oh yeah and combine all my new Kryptonian powers with Shazam's so Ican be a noble God as well as an alien! Even with all that power, I'd still be noble like Supes and Shazam!

Kryptonians are NOT "humans" they are humanoid in appearance no different from Darkseid being humanoid however they are aliens from other planets and chemical composition and stars... the plot device and plot armor of Superman is that he gets super powers so regular readers of comics see that as an avatar to see themselves in...

Originally... Superman's powers were due to him being from an evolved race. Not the sun or gravity. Those were added later.
This was retconned to be the case with the Earth-Two Superman (the original). Later they added the sun being a factor to explain powers like flying and vision powers. With the Earth-One Superman Kryptonians had no superpowers on Krypton. although they did have much more advanced technology than that of Earth.

*Why? Because of plot! That's why.* Frankly, the reasons why Krypton's society were broken despite of it's technology are often poor rationale and dubious pseudo-philosophy. Now, Ultra-man, That's a species that fully embraced being super.
Few problems, Krypton mythology has change a bit in the past forty some years. Another problems with writers is when they depower Superman they neglect the Kryptonians evolved on a world with x8 earth's gravity meaning what appears to be a 200lb man will in fact be 1,600lbs .. so why don't Kryptonians blood depressurize in earth's atmosphere ?
Another aspect with my D&D/Star Wars RPG gaming group wanting to PC a Krypton, just reading over wiki on star energy out put .. a red giant or dwarf compare to a yellow star. Earth's sun puts out 2.7 to 5 times the radiation of a red Krypton sun does. Follow with over exposer to our own sun leads to sun burns and skin cancer. From our base understanding from sensor readings, who wants a x5 sun burn and risk atmospheric depressurization ?
Unless your environment suite gets a rip due to accident or combat and finding out yellow solar radiation empowers them, there is no reason why a Kryptonian would want to set foot on earth like planets.

It kind of reminds me of the lizard men that live in space. They actually grow much stronger, and smarter and more civilized because the solar rays empower them and they're on a whole different level with all sorts of solar punk tech xD nasty critters to attack your space faring vessel

@@antonioyeats2149 First off, at least you paragraphed. Second I am a bit familiar with D&D Spelljammer and a few other sci-fi rpg dealing with lizard people. Other than the Conna/ Lovecraft mythology.
As for the .. real .. lizard people David Ick talked about, they are more align as being astral demons living side by side with earth's vibration para dimension, and they only appear to look like lizardmen.
That being a side, I met people with large iguana as pets. They are amazedly smart and dumb as a dog at the same time. Yet when proper human condition are still cooler than cats. Unlike a cat, some iquana will fetch small items for you.

Then again we or I should say scientist taught chimpanzee how to basic operate a rocket pod, drive motor vehicles, play the basics in chess, and sign language. Where the majority of the people I met over my forty year life span have no understanding on how our technology works let alone how to operate it, or develop it. 12% of the population develops tech, 30% maintain that tech, and the rest are along for the ride. In short, humans are dumb, and I have way too many limitations in understanding myself. .

This is the biggest flaw in Supermans back story..And yes any species would be different..If you know you are invulnerable..super healing super strength etc etc..it would immediately be accepted and they would establish their homes across the universe..even with Krypton remaining their principle home..There is no explanation of why didnt a million Kryptonians sent across the universe to conquer everything..Its a poor back story and the biggest loophole ever.
