I am 35 years old. I was told by my parents that when I was a baby i would have night terrors and I was afraid of the dark into my teenage years. They would pray over me and play Sandy Patty and that’s the only way they could get me to sleep. Eventually God literally took away the fear of darkness from me spiritually and physically. Because what do we have to fear if we know that our savior is Jesus and all things have been wrought in him 🙏🏽🙌🏽
After getting lost in college, Jesus came and saved me. To show my gratitude, I sang this song in a campus Bble church where I had been baptized...I was really nervous while singing, but many folks were touched by it. Thanks Lord for rescuing my from my self.

A great vocalist for sure, but if we're talking about any genre of music.....then I'm not sure I would consider her one of the greatest in the entire history of the US. I'm not saying this to be mean, but in the world of opera alone, she would actually be considered quite average. That's how high the standard is in that genre. However if we're talking about praise and worship, that is all irrelevant. All God wants is a worshipful heart, to worship in Spirit and in truth, and to make a joyful noise. No need to sing on pitch, on beat, on key....nope, just worship.

I wish this style of singing was popular amongst my peers these days instead of the autotune-pop sound of Gomez and Bieber (which in comparison to Sandi's voice, require almost NO effort beyond some muscled ornamentation and lotsa lemon water), SO rich and gorgeous. I have this style of voice, but I have no idea how to use it in church, since all the music is epic pop ballads, and you can't exactly belt out some realskie-opera-sassafrass without getting some stares and laughter. But I love listening to this and hearing the passion and technique...and overall, she's honest-to-goodness WORSHIPPING God, and that's the most important thing ever when singing. I love it!!! And though I will always find this gift at its best in Christian music, it also shines with Broadway and pops orchestra music, having set a record for attendance throughout the country with symphony concerts in the 90's. Tonal quality and expressiveness are hallmarks of this lady's voice. TH-cam mostly features her most powerful praise anthems and hymns, which are nothing short of astounding, both in my car stereo and, even more, on live performances, but Sandi has a vast repertoire of songs which showcase her amazing ability to wrap lyrics in sublime luminosity and tenderness, with not a single "high" note to be found. Listen to Sissel sing Going Home. I don't think singing super high notes makes a voice "perfect" ... beautiful tone quality and expressiveness do.

Vocal appreciation can be highly subjective, but Sandi Patty is truly one of the most extraordinary singers to ever lift a microphone. She is considered by many to be a masterful storyteller, and after hearing her sing in over forty concerts over three decades, I can most assuredly attest to this truth! Her ability to interpret a musical piece is second to none. And though I will always find this gift at its best in Christian music, it also shines with Broadway and pops orchestra music, having set a record for attendance throughout the country with symphony concerts in the 90's. Tonal quality and expressiveness are hallmarks of this lady's voice. TH-cam mostly features her most powerful praise anthems and hymns, which are nothing short of astounding, both in my car stereo and, even more, on live performances, but Sandi has a vast repertoire of songs which showcase her amazing ability to wrap lyrics in sublime luminosity and tenderness, with not a single "high" note to be found. One of the things that always stupefied me was her musical intuitiveness, her gift to "read" the feeling of a lyric and paint the emotion with a voice that was both soft and strong, low and high, and sometimes all of these at the same time! And...one last comment about her legendary "high notes." Yes, they are epic and that's OKAY! But, it's not just her nuclear-powered lungs that have endeared her to millions. To repeat what I said earlier, she is a songstress, a musical storyteller, and there are many stories when I want, even expect dramatic punctuation! If I want to hear a songwriter tell the story of how Mary might have felt when she encountered her resurrected Lord, I want a soaring, powerful exclamation point at the end of her comment! To reduce Sandi to just "high notes" reflects a gross lack of knowledge about the entirety of her work.
I love and appreciate MANY different artists, and God has given us a gorgeous panoply of HIS voice in them. Praise God for allowing us to hear His magnificently colored and powerful range through Sandi!
I love her singing - so many of her songs. But this rendition, THIS rendition is my 'go to' when I simply want to worship.

you have a voice of an angel....tears filled my eyes and you made me feel the spirit of God going thru me as i listened...my mother use to sing like you so many years ago and i did not appreciate her talent. I grew up listening to Sandi Patti and Steve Green. It’s been over 30 years and this song and ‘we shall behold Him’ still gives me goosebumps and tears when I listen to them. Such purity in her vocals. I look forward to his soon coming where I can truly exclaim how great He is. Praise be to God for such a beautiful voice that draws me closer to Him
