I think you guys reviewed this project a bit too quickly after it came out. Albums like these require a little more time to digest. That being said I understand your gripes with the performance.
I don't agree. Music doesn't change with time but us. Saying "Music needs time to be reviewed" just counts on a reviewers being in a more fitting place in their lifes to be reviewed differently than on release date. I agree that music can become more fun with time but it's not because it became more enjoyable but because your PoV. Has changed yoir, life has changed. Amazing albums can make everyone like or love em from the get go. Mediocre albums need timeor impact of the other factors to make better impression of them

Bro ik he fucking floats over woo, truthfully these guys just kinda make shit up to make their surface level analysis sound more nuanced than it actually is.
Yall weren’t too negative, but I really think yall may have missed the mark on this album. Personally it is my album of the year. One of the best produced albums of 2024 alongside 2093 and the 2 albums by Metro and Future. I don’t think there was 1 bad production. It was all so atmospheric and beautiful. James said this album started with him playing ambient music he had been working on for Yachty in the studio and Yachty writing lyrics for it. I think that really shines through in the production. Then there is the lyrics. I think this album is kind of like a puzzle, where no one song tells the full picture and instead you have to piece them together to get the overarching narratives. I think watching their interviews with Complex and Zane Lowe of Apple Music really helped. They spent a lot of time talking about how fun this album was for them to make, just making what they wanted and freeing themselves from the constraints of 1st week sales and worrying about the industry. I think that shines through in the lyrics, of them wanting to be free to be themselves and create what they want to rather than what the industry or fans want them to. We see this on a song like Transport Me, where in James Blake’s opening verse he sings “the high life is a rumor and the rumor is a lie”, which is followed by a verse from Yachty that portrays himself as living this his life. Underneath that Yachty verse however, the beat shifts around and has a sort of darkness to it, and we see that manifest in Yachty’s lyrics as he shifts from brags to talking about a sort of toxic relationship where his lover hates his lifestyle but also sort of loves it and it makes her crazy and strains the relationship but also makes her want him more. Missing Man is all about how fame and having to play in the industry ends up taking them away from their families and responsibilities. A lot of the lyrics on this album are esoteric and poetic, but when you look deeper at them and piece each song together it creates a larger picture. This album is a story about how conforming to the music industry has hurt their personal relationships and artistic souls, and so this album is a reckoning with that by creating what they want to create and acknowledging the pain they may have inflicted on the people they love. I think this culminates in Run Away From The Rabbit, a clear reference to following the rabbit in Alice and Wonderland. Alice is told to follow the rabbit, so she does, which leads her down the rabbit hole and into wonderland, which is actually a bad thing. They are using that as a metaphor for following industry expectations and how that ultimately leads you to a negative place. In that song, they are choosing to make their own path and follow their own creativity by making what they want to make. I also think their styles really compliment each other. James’ singing is beautiful, but also has a sort of somber essence to it. Yachty’s rapping and autotuned crooning brings a much needed contrast and levity. They are also able to compare and contrast their different perspectives and lifestyles in a really great way. James pushed Yachty to be better and more experimental, and Yachty pushed James to be more comfortable and open. It made for a great contracting duo that play off each other’s respective strengths and weaknesses. I think each song on this album works better in the context of the album than as a standalone song, but that’s why it was such a great album experience for me, each song came together to tell a piece of the story and create an album that is greater than the sum of its parts. My favorite song was either Woo, Bad Cameo, or Run Away From The Rabbit. I’ll definitely be revisiting this album a lot.
@@XavierMcnemarimo it was fantastic it all felt so different whilst still sounding like normal rap I loved how unique and fun it was definitely part of his great run 👍

This album is probably my #1 of the year so far. I'm just so impressed with how fresh and original it sounds. Don't know if I've ever heard anything quite like it. Just beautiful.
Album is really good. Yachty needs more recognition for even being able to hold his weight compared to a vocalist like James Blake. What he lacks in vocals he makes up in character
You guys should consider taking your time listening to albums before you review. Artists spend so much time to create their art and you guys would give it a mid review after listening to it like 2 times.
I’m a little disappointed with the album. I hate the drums on this album for the most part, they sound so bad, and they don’t even compliment the soundscape. The mixing is poor in some cases. But, with that being said, Midnight is one of my top 20ish favorite songs of the year so far, any genre. Amazing song. Album overall is just a decent 5/10. It sounds like they were just in a rush with the creative process, a lot of the performances from Yachty were uninspired, the production choices a bit lazy, lyrics lacking depth. They could have done so much more with this. And to be honest the chemistry between Yachty and James Blake performance wise just wasn’t there. Overall a massive step down from Lets Start Here, which was a 8/10 imo. Great video! Nfr 🔥🐐
Had mixed feelings on this album loved it tho. James Blake was amazing and so was yachty but some songs felt really out of place for yachty not something i’d play if front of people in the aux but fs in my personal playlist
