my current african union has 2.1 billion people, 32,000 bn gdp, 28 MIP and 700 research and I got it really going fairly late, and also have reigned in its economy because of growing CP costs. Since I built it out of ethiopia instead of out of caliphate which a lot of people go for, my government is almost democracy, and was able to individually grow MC in the East African federation, greater algeria, and Nigerian federation before absorbing them.
I hold both india and the african union, and the african union is bigger with a better economy, but India has a better military and government. But India's cohesion wanders between 9 and 10 whereas the cohesion of the AU is at 5, so the AU is crushing India in science comparatively.

I go for a different approach in this game since id never done it before, i always wonder how to get that democracy score up effectively, that AU seems stonk any advice? on what you did to get it there

@@DefranStrategy Its the same thing you'd do with india, you just need to get it formed. Once you start building your economy your GDP rapidly increases, which ramps up your investment points. Then you pick welfare or knowledge and dump most of your IP into it for like, 3 years, then rinse and repeat with the other one :P
I think the biggest thing if you wanted to be africa focused is 1 - protecting the african countries from coups, as you want to protect places like Ethiopia, Nigeria, Tanzania, Egypt, and Algeria who all start with governments of 5.0 or better. If they get coup'd down to 0 totalitarian states then you might as well just be releasing and playing the caliphate.
I think the other big thing with an africa focused game, is you will need some nation with armies and navies to both help your african states expand and also fend off the 1st and 2nd invasions. I don't think an africa-only game can get online fast enough to fight off the invasions? So Japan, Korea, Taiwan, India, Gulf States, Australia - all become important target options because they can field armies and navies and have decent starting miltech. Assuming you are trying to do a game without any of the normal "big" nations like europe, america, china, russia. Alternatively, you can maybe nuke down the first invasion.
