  • D.C. Fire and Emergency Medical Services confirmed Friday morning that 41 bodies have been recovered from the crash site, including all three soldiers who were on the Army Black Hawk helicopter. Travel expert Peter Greenberg says the National Transportation Safety Board should take the time to get answers on how the crash occurred. Greg Feith, former senior investigator at NTSB, details information that could come from the recovered black boxes and analyzes a voice recording from air traffic control.

13 years with 3rd MAW, both peacetime and deployed. This 'training' excuse is an insult to anyone who's served. VFR conditions, clear skies, and a Black Hawk acting like it's on a joyride? Where's the accountability? This story? BS. Training flights don't happen like this. Period. The location, the lack of supervision, the radio silence - it all screams cover-up. VFR conditions, clear as day. The Army needs to explain itself.

ATC didn’t provide direction, position, altitude of the AA plane. Helicopter was looking at the wrong plane. The AS flight came from above the chopper. How can they see it? Total incompetence of ATC, and error of maintaining 200 ft altitude by chopper pilot. No coverup

@thereishope3867 the tower reached out multiple times to confirm the PAT25 (Helicopter) had visual seperation from the airliner. He confirmed and asked for visual seperation (which now means he is not flying the coordinates the Tower gave to pass the jet but flying by his own visual seperation to avoid just like you would in a car) the tower confirmed and told him to pass behind the liner which PAT25 confirmed as well.
Once a pilot takes visual seperation they are now confirming responsibility for avoiding the other aircraft off visual in the sky

Condolences to all families affected by this incident. No words can express such devastation that all these families must be feeling? Everyone has family and friends who travel. We can only pray that in time the pain of losing one's loved one subsides. The initial live video clearly showed the impact from the helicopter into the plane. Investigators will find out the exact reason. Appreciation for all the hard work of all the emergency crews, department leaders and all involved to try and find as many loved ones as possible that are in that frigid water. Keep searching to find them all.

I fear the helo pilot(s) will be held to blame for breaking altitude restrictions. They were restricted to 200 or below and the accident appears to have been at around 400 feet. But I this is more likely a systemic failure. VFR helo traffic should never have been routed so near the final approach of an active runway. If the helo had been at 200 feet, the jet would have passed overhead with a vertical separation of 200 feet. It's still way way too close.
Additionally, the VFR helo corridor routed traffic 200 feet above the river at night. With very few visual clues, its very hard to actually see the river's surface. I think its natural of a pilot at such a low altitude to fly at the high end of whats allowed to avoid accidentally impacting the river at night. All of these considerations add up to a systemic failure.

Neolibs wanted just over $4T, to meet the GOP halfway. But the anti-American GOP, full of MAGAnuts, forced it down to $2T. The FAA budget was severely slashed. Yet about half of ATC retired or quit during the pandemic, which they couldn't afford to fill.

Understaffed also means undertrained. Still, no reason that not one of 3 soldiers didn't see the plane which was right in front of their faces, even from a distance, although the plane was lower. The BH followed the plane, as it turned away from the BH, then plowed into it. Also, why was the pilot instructor talking to the ATC, and not the pilot controlling the helio? Nothing makes sense when it comes to those two soldiers, and why none of the 3 saw the plane. And that's giving the female pilot the benefit of the doubt that what we saw wasn't intentional.

This consists of Two Pilots and Two Crew Chiefs two watch each sides of the Helo. Was it needed??? it obviously seems so, especially in this flight zone... Very difficult for one crew chief two watch both sides at night with high traffic.

The tower broadcasts on both VHF and UHF simultaneously and can hear both. The military helicopter receives and broadcasts on UHF and the commercial traffic receives and broadcasts on VHF, so all the traffic can hear and be heard by the tower, but the military helicopter and the commercial jets can't hear one another.

Having flown over 8000 hours in the Blackhawk and having flown in this same busy airspace, I can tell you that the air traffic controller did not give a clock position and altitude for the American Eagle flight, so the UH 60 crew may have been looking at a different aircraft and did not see the aircraft it ultimately collided with. Same goes for the American Eagle flight. Now quit being armchair aviation experts, and wait for the results of the investigation. I’ve participated in a few crash investigation boards. having worked in ATC in a high density, international location for a number of years, we had a similar operation for military helicopters crossing active centrelines. The procedures required the arriving aircraft and the helicopter to be the same frequency, mutual traffic info was required and everyone was aware of the crossing heli. A positive instruction for the heli to cross behind the "landing traffic at 2 miles was then issued". This procedure was used in VFR both day and night. It was a safe operation if all the boxes were ticked. In the US collision, were both aircraft on the same frequency?? If not the CRJ was probably not aware of how close the heli was otherwise he would have queried with the tower, taken avoiding action or gone round. The heli possibly misidentified the traffic he was to give way to as well. Also, was there any TCAS info available which would have also assisted? Many questions need to be answered. RIP to all concerned.

In 2004, Kaloyev travelled to the Swiss town of Kloten, where he killed Nielsen, who had since retired from his air traffic control job at Skyguide.

There seems to be a very serious problem with this. Since the explosion occurred in the air, it is possible that it hit the fuselage or one of the wings directly. It is clearly seen in the images. The real issue that needs to be investigated is why did the military pilot fly directly towards the plane. I hope that the authorities can fully explain the truth without being under any pressure. I don't think so though.. because there is a structure that has been deceiving its people with lies for 80 years.

You talk like this. Do you have the aircraft at 1o'clock 2o'clock etc. You do say do you see the aircraft. When other aircraft are in the air you do not use nonspecific language. The runway switch, altitude and inattention by atc are all factors.

ATC did give all, distance, altitude, intentions and extact runway they going to land.

  •  7 วันที่ผ่านมา

Deceptive headline. Many listened to the ATC recordings and the BH confirmed TWICE visual separation. The ATC literally told him that he was getting CLOSE when the ATC first asked if he had visual separation. But the BH pilot instructor didn't respond. When he did respond, he confirmed. Then the ATC asked again, which was again confirmed. The next plane over was more than two miles away, which was departing.
The ATC could have been more specific about the plane.. Still, there were six eyes inside the BH. And the other 4 couldn't see what was obviously in front of them, despite how bright the plane was? They were literally facing each other, and you have a much better all-around view inside of a helio.
So has the name of the female soldier released yet who was in control of the BH? Seems fishy with how long the feds have withheld. Kinda weird how the plane veered left to avoid the BH, then the BH veered into their direction, plowing into the plane so hard, it ripped in half upon explosion.

This is a terrible tragedy for sure, but hopefully all victims were unaware of the situation and passed immediately. What hell it would be to have time to worry about the situation and suffer in the aftermath.
God bless the victims, flight crews (civilians and military), the first responders and others who showed up to help, the air traffic controllers, airport personnel, rescue/recovery people, airport personnel, inspectors/investigators...

what if they were hunting... and that was when the accident happened. maybe they (the controllers) did not ask about the plane, but rather, about something which isn't further explained, we are not allowed to know I reckon... seems legit. it is at least very possible. Imagine he would be asked, "if he sees it", and he confirms, or he doesn't, but something is in the way but has to be eliminated, hence the helicopter approaching further than he was usually allowed. Maybe also it was on order but now the public just is not eligible to hear what really happened, so the controllers are used for a make-believe.
    just my five cents.
