The few, the proud, the Marines!! It doesn't get any better than that. There is just something about a Marine in his/her dress blues that turn heads. When my cousin put his on, he was a different person - just so proud! God Bless all our military personnel - past, present and future.

My hubby was a Navy Medic stationed with the Marines for a while and he said they could be funny as hell but when it came to being serious, there were none better. He had the utmost respect for them. LOVED the drum major this year because he kept them playing the Marine Hymn over and over again. They are the highlight of the parade and why so many watch the parade.
And in case anyone's curious -- although each of them may be a talented musician...they also are combat trained Marines...each and every one of them is ready for combat...so Happy Birthday Marines...Semper Fi...
They all do go to School of Infantry after basic training but don't call them combat trained in front of an infantry man (grunt) to them they're all just P.o.g.'s (persons other than grunts.)

And still, HE was a pog just because he wasn't 0311. It is what it is. But as a pog I went all over the world. I had the district pleasure of sweating my nuts off in Desert Storm and was able to see Guadalcanal, Henderson Field and Bloody ridge. Papua New Guinea and Sydney Australia. That doesn't even scratch the surface. I was truly blessed. I would not trade my time in the Corps for anything or any other Marine's career either. Life is what we make it. And yes. I marched the damn 6 1/2 mile Rose Parade in coroframs twice. Once still drunk and one sober. I prefer the former. But either way, both times I took off my shoes at the end and poured out the blood. God I hate those damn plastic shoes. Would have much rather worn my leathers. Anyhow. Semper Fi

I enlisted in the Marine Corps in 1962 after graduating from high school. Was high on draft boards list and wanted to choose which branch of military I would serve my country. By 1968 I had deployed with my recon unit 3 times with no regrets.
My late husband was in the United.State's Marine he served in the Vietnam War he was a proud Marine if i had some one to protect me and my country i would pick the Marine's to protect our country i love the Marine song Semper Fi.🙏🙏🙏🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸

How often do these Marine Bands march with traditional drums? I've only seen the President's Own use them, and they sound a lot better than the side drums the Royal Marines use.
They played it all the way down the line. That's what the people were waiting to hear. It's the Marine Hymn. Yes, they play many other songs. They are the only reason I watch the parade.
In the Marine Corps if you're enlisted and under the rate of Corporal or E-4 then you are not an NCO therefore you don't have a blood stripe that's reserved for NCOs and Officers
Are you kidding? all of them are great musicians as well as fully battle trained soldiers. don’t disrespect them and yes, they can play the hell out of any band and I could listen to then play the Marine Hymn all day

+Franky Twofingers if you've ever watched show bands like HBCU's in the MEAC conference or even DCI, they use snares that are tune high and doesn't have that "wet" sound on it like a traditional snare, the bass drums are also not tuned as tight and have a ringing sound with traditional drums
