Opera2 was the second performance of The Singer competition in 2017 in China. The song is in Russian. A language he also speaks fluently. The original was from the famous Russian singer named Vitas.
The song is very famous and popular in China. The audience already knew what to expect, but were very surprised when Dimash raised the pitch three times. Vitas but only once.
The man who raises his fist in the air at the end is Dimash’s father. He came from Kazakhstan to support his son. However, Dimash knew nothing about it when he performed.
I think it was very difficult for him at the beginning. You have to imagine, until this competition in China in 2017 he never was alone. Dimash, like many other Kazakhs, has the tradition of living under one roof with the whole family all together. He lives with his grandparents, parents, a sister, a brother an other relatives in the same house. And now he had to go to China alone, didn‘t know the country, didn‘t know the language, didn‘t know the traditions or livestyle in this country and up to that point he spoke (almost) no English, except maybe „Thank you“ and „My name is Dimash“. Only one interpreter came along and that at the age of 22. He was almost a kid to me then (my son is 20 so I can imagine…). And after that performance he saw his dad. So beautiful and emotional.
BTW the audience is also the jury.
During the Opera 2 performance, he flirted with the audience in a way that wasn’t really his habit at the time (fortunately that has changed in the meantime). And afterwards he said that he was really uncomfortable that his father saw him like that🤭. Luckily he didn’t find out until afterwards because I love it when he’s like that on stage🥰.
I love this video because he still seemed so innocent. Just a boy and he didn't seem as serious as he sometimes is these days. He still looked carefree. I think what's happening today in the world worries him a lot.

Olimpico is another masterpiece that Igor Krutoy wrote especially for Dimash’s vocal skills. It was written for the 2nd European Games in Minsk, Belarus 2019. And that’s why the lyrics are also very motivating.
This song and this performance from this Arnau concert is my absolute favourite🥰 I think this version is the best, because his performance is so intense and breathtaking. The light show, the background dancers. Everything. With this song in this version I always get breathlessness. The way he represents himself on stage, the hand movements. I think he has incredibly beautiful hands🤭(and apparently many cameramen think so too, since many of the camera shots during his performances very often only show his hands. Sometimes it seems as if he is conducting himself. This is really fascinating). And the facial expression, the look. There he looks so commanding😱. In my opinion, this version of Olimpico is one of the most impressive performances ever. If you don't know what the song is about, you'd think he was going to war and is calling his army to a lost battle 😅! It’s absolutely stunning. And I don't even mean the vocal part, but also his stage presence. The whole package. Oh wow I’m starting to rave again…🤤 Sorry but I can’t help it🥺. I swear it is mind-blowing 🤯

Dimash sings the song "Opera-2" by the Russian poet-singer-composer Vitas, which he wrote during the hours of deep depression, while in his country house, in 2003. And Vitas performs this song also with a depressive mood.
The organizers of the contest persuaded Dimash to sing this song. And when Dimash agreed, he said that he would sing this song in his own way and at the end he would perform the vocalization two tones higher. You have seen the result on the screen! Dimash fulfilled his promise and sang the way he wanted!
Unfortunately, Vitas forbade Dimash to sing "Opera-2" - he was OFFENDED!!! After all, Dimash sang "without permission" better than Vitas! The funny thing is that all the other authors and performers of the songs that Dimash sang at the contest, on the contrary, thanked him for his excellent performance! And the French even wanted to award Dimash with an order for performing the song "S.O.S."!
That is not true and Dimash himself streamed to his fans apologising for that rumour as soon as he knew that and explained that he had no idea about how that started. Vitas said that he was honoured that Dimash decided to perform his song. And Dimash made clear that he could not "make a better version" than the writer but a different one, each one whith his own style

He has a huge amount of content and then versions of songs because he just loves to change it up and keep it fresh. In my opinion he is clearly the best vocalist in the world in every way, not only does he have a humongous vocal range with total control over it, he has stage presence that is amazing, definitely could act if he wanted, he has master microphone control, plays a host of instruments, sings in a wide range of languages and does them all well as if it were his native language. Yeah so much to see and the more you see the more you want to see. Great reaction ❤

The song is about a guy who built a house and now lives all alone and sad in it ...listening to the howling of the wind outside ...
This song belongs to the Ukrainian- Russian vocal clown Vitas. (Relates to Videos on TH-cam: Vitas sings never live and his voice is always processed electronically)
However, the Chinese forgot to ask Vitas. The rights holders have sued the Chinese television... unfortunately too late. The Chinese had already put it online and so it stays on the internet forever.
Vitas (Vitaly Vladasovich Grachev, *1979 Latvian SSR is a Ukrainian- Russian pop singer who mainly sings in Russian. He is also a composer, actor and fashion designer. He claimed that by the age of 12 he had composed at least 1,000 songs.🤣

That's how it all started: In 2017 Dimash received a wildcard for the “The Singer” competition in China. He was the youngest participant ever (22 years old). Foreign participants were actually forbidden at that time. The director ignored the ban, believing Dimash would only stay 1 or 2 episodes and then go home.
This competition is not a talent show. Only professional, award-winning singers participate. Nobody knew or heard Dimash before and he had to start first ... and after his first song "SOS" Dimash captured the hearts of over 600 million viewers and a mega-star was born overnight. The next day, bodyguards stood in front of his door.
“Opera #2” was the 2. song in the competition.
The competition consisted of 14 rounds over 4 months. The jury consisted of 500 spectators who knew music, not just your average "Joe". They were well screened to be sure they would be able to judge the musicians fairly and competently. With up to 1 billion people watching this TV program and international interest was aroused. The performances were uploaded to TH-cam ... and so we became Dimash's Dears.
The Chinese organizers planned... but Dimash came, sang and stayed ... for the next 3 years in China ... but he only finished second in the competition because he is not Chinese (conditions have changed: 2018, Jessie J. won).

This is from the Chinese vocal contest in 2017, when he was 22 years old. This song had been made popular a few years earlier by a guy named Vitas. I watched a couple of minutes of the Vitas, but wasn't impressed, and didn't like the way he bounced around the stage like a kid or something. After Dimash did his version, the writer/composer of the song sued Dimash so he couldn't sing it again..... probably because Dimash did it better, with higher notes, and the arrangement was better.
