    I've had St. Augustine every since i moved in my house 19 yrs ago. I have to mow ot once a week but i don't treat it probably should but the front is pretty n green but the back is some parts dieing out nd over taken by weeds in certain spots i have anout an acre of flat land in the south how do i need to treat the back nd it gets sun

      That's a very broad question and subject to many variables. There's mowing height, sharpness of the blade, mowing frequency, water coverage, type of fertilizer and frequency of application, using products like RGS and Microgreene and their frequency and amounts, to name just a few.

    • @Jaye1024
      @Jaye1024 ปีที่แล้ว

      @thesuburbanhomenut1183 I'll try the fertilizer and see if that helps. Thanks!!!

      St Aug likes water, and fertilizer (monthly application).

    Hi, great video. Can I put all down all this down the same time with some 6-3-0 in October after aeration?

    • @thesuburbanhomenut1183
      @thesuburbanhomenut1183  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes you can. 6-3-0 is a good choice if your lawn is low in phosphorus and high in potassium. If it's high, don't use a fert that has it. Thanks for watching.

    Can it be applied in the Phoenix summer heat on St. Augustine?

    • @thesuburbanhomenut1183
      @thesuburbanhomenut1183  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I believe the application directions says to not use it when the temps are above 80-90 degrees. You might want to do it as late in the evening as possible and make sure to not water it for a day two.

      @@festive101Yes! I am in southern California and I have St Augustine and my yard looks great! I do have to mow it once a week during the summer months however it goes dormant in the winter months and I only mow as needed.

    I have a lot of brown patches, probably caused by chinch bugs. After putting some Triazicide on the lawn, how do I make the St. Augustine grass come back? Do I just put soil over it?

    • @thesuburbanhomenut1183
      @thesuburbanhomenut1183  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I'd recommend digging around the brown areas into the green and look for grubs to confirm. To fix brown patches, you can use a 1:1 mixture of sand and Black Kow, level it, and spray it down with water.

    How often should I mow st augustine grass?

    • @thesuburbanhomenut1183
      @thesuburbanhomenut1183  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      As needed. Mow as tall as you can, then for all subsequent mows, only remove the top 1/3 of the grass. In the Summer, you can expect to mow 2 times per week. Thanks for the question.

    Do you spray these products all in the same day? Also mix or separate application

    • @thesuburbanhomenut1183
      @thesuburbanhomenut1183  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      You can mix them but I recommend mixing only two at a time. They can get thick and not spray well, even when they're topped off with water. Thanks for watching.

  • @richardmoeller7296
    @richardmoeller7296 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Do you use all three sprays or just pick one of the three?

    • @thesuburbanhomenut1183
      @thesuburbanhomenut1183  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Humic 12 and RGS can be used year round, while MicroGreene is good during the heavy growing season. If your grass goes dormant or slows down, no need for it. Thanks for watching.

    Question I live in New England do you think that'd be safe to put down Milorganite this spring?
    Also thank you for the video the more I know😊

    • @thesuburbanhomenut1183
      @thesuburbanhomenut1183  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Any type of fert that is used should be determined by your soil tests. Milorganite is a great fert, but if your tests show high phosphorous and low potassium, Milo wouldn't be the best choice as it's normally 5-3-0 or 6-4-0. You'd be adding what your grass already has enough of. Choose the fert that has the best NPK for your lawn.

    I'm on an acre (40,000.sq ft), minus house, garage, pool, concrete, etc I probably still have 30k of lawn. I'd love to have my lawn look nicer than it does, but for 1 guy, it's alot of work and these products aren't cheap. I just do my best.

    My Saint Augustine grass is pretty darn green but it just won’t grow vertically. What is the problem? had it for over a year and a half now and I think I’ve cut it maybe three or four times total

    • @thesuburbanhomenut1183
      @thesuburbanhomenut1183  ปีที่แล้ว

      Without seeing the lawn and knowing the amount of water you're putting down and how often, type of fert and weeding habits, etc.. it's a guessing game. I'd recommend getting your soil tested, then going from there. There could be many variables that are not known at the moment.

      Where do you live?

    • @elian222
      @elian222 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's probably due to the cultivar or type of SA grass you have. For example, floritam SA grows very fast, especially when fertilized a lot of N. Conversely seville (which is a better suited SA type for less sunny lawns) grows far slower than floritam. And lastly, Scott's ProVista grows super slow - in fact, this was an intentionally genetically engineered attribute of ProVista so it would not need to be mowed/maintained as frequently.

      It's great you only have to cut it once a week. I keep mine at 4" and it so green and healthy and grows so quickly I'm mowing every 3-4 days. I wish I could have a lesser grass and only mow every 7 days.
