Well, I think we can all agree that Disney outdid themselves and stopped their princess and prince stereotype phase. We all need Disney to start making more and more musical movies of different cultures. Diversity matters, and I love how they made it kind of like a comedy too.
Yes, I think Camillo adds a lot of that comedy. I too am glad to see Disney breaking away from the Prince and Princess theme's and especially branching out into more diverse films. Love Lin Manuel Miranda's music in this movie too.
Mirabel kinda has the essence of both Disney and Ghibli characters.
And it's a good thing they did that. One of Encanto's animators admitted that he had to convince Disney to have Luisa look as she is in the final product, because Disney initially wanted Luisa to look petite and slim
@@christinelim7703 that makes me mad. Not every woman looks like that and it sets up the idea for children from a young age that thar is what a woman has to and should look like and that there is something wrong with you if you don't look like that.

In my opinion having the magic comeback ruined the song "all of me" and the main message of the film that is that no matter if your a gifted child or not you are no less special than everyone else but that's only gripe I have with the film

Like, the film is about even if Mirabel has no gift, she is still as special as everyone else, she goes on to learn that she does have self-worth. If the movie were to conclude by weakening everyone else, would make it seem like Mirabel is only happy when she is at the same power level as the others.
As a Colombian I feel so represented by “Encanto” the music, the story and the diversity. Love every minute of it!🇨🇴

The thing that made We Don't Talk About Bruno so good, obviously apart from it being so catchy, is the choreography of the video. It's amazing to listen to, but if you also watch it, you'll appreciate it even more. It's the small details that really bring it to life. I watched it multiple times and I observed different characters every time. Their expressions, their movement, it's just so amazingly done.

Yes but in a way that shows everybody is human and needs love and appreciation. It’s brilliant. The characters all had different talents, looks and abilities, yet all had the same basic human needs to be allowed to be truly themselves and loved and appreciated. And the characters were all lovable, even Abuelita.

I agree with the what John Leguizamo said about Bruno. He is a selfless man, I mean Bruno let everyone believe he left for good because he wanted to keep his family, especially Mirabel, safe after that vision he saw. It was really nice to see that Bruno cares about his family deeply and wants to do what he can to help them.
His storyline was predictable but I chose to let it slide for how he helped Mirabel and care for her well being.
As someone from Colombia it makes me so HAPPY to finally see my country portrayed in a good way. In such a beautiful way thank you for everyone who took a part in the project.

Dolores is my least favorite, she has a pretty good gift but doesn’t take the initiative to help others, heck her brother displays selflessness and helpfulness. To me she appeared to be shoe horned into the movie.

Fun fact: They had to fight Disney so Luisa could have muscles 💪 Disney wanted Luisa to be slim like Isabella because they thought kids would like that more and like Isabella more. But it turns out a lot of kids love Luisa 💕
Encanto hit all the right notes. It presented a vastly inclusive cast without debasing itself to mere woke pandering. It celebrated social and familial harmony while acknowledging its urgent need to evolve with the times and standards of mental health and sociology. It finally kicked CG Disney films' pathological addiction to bullshit twists at the last minute while staying out of tritely predictable territory. It managed to keep its scope local and intimately contained while never downsizing its scale or grandeur. The setlist was consistently solid and unforgettable even by Disney standards. Encanto is more than just a viral hit; it had all of its pieces fall into place at a time in history where everything else is succumbing to Murphy's Law. Its merits are being acknowledged by a much larger consensus than its more divisive contemporaries. And all of that is a miracle in itself, perhaps to an even greater extent than the movie's message; I think our society has sorely needed such a thing for years on end.

If Lin doesn't win the Oscar for best song, it will be because Disney submitted the wrong song. Don't Talk About Bruno would have been an absolute lock to win...

@@nanomacaron232 We Don't Talk ABout Bruno is very close-tie with the movie plot so I guess they believe it's safer to submit Dos Oruguitas which lyrics-wise is more general..
Bruno is a heartbreaking character so we find it easy to sympathize and pity him, especially anyone that has grown up and are still living in family where generational trauma is still poisoning everyone. That sort of toxic relationship is very familiar to us and since it’s about family, it hits very close to home. It’s very visceral and extremely deep. Bruno ends up encapsulating our complex feelings and we can’t help but want to root for him and hope he gets the help he needs the way we hope people would root for us and help us out of our seemingly inescapable lives.
Isabela is my favorite character and "What Else Can I Do" has been playing non-stop in my room ever since the film was released.

Man... i am an old man but I am thrilled to see two of my biggest heroes together: Lin-Manuel and John Leguizamo. Lin-Manuel has been already recognized as an artistic genius; but John is one-of-the-kind and for me one of the greatest actors alive. Steven Seagal was aware of this and was eaten alive with jealousy when he bullied John. lol

An Encanto series on Disney+ would be great. It doesn't even have to be super long or focused on the magic, just a series of vignettes involving each family member dealing with their day and interacting with the family.

Those two and Vivo have exceeded my expectations this past year. I respect In the Heights since I’ve been a fan of Lin first because of his songs. But he’s matured as an artist

This is one of the best Disney movies in a long time, and probably the best music-wise.
I loved Big Hero 6 and the Frozen movies because they were representation for me (half Japanese representation and Scandinavian representation), but Encanto has a theme of intergenerational trauma that I think speaks to a lot of people regardless of background, is open to interpretation inviting conversation about it, and really incredible music. I have to imagine Surface Pressure made a lot of older sisters cry.
Oh, and John Leguizamo is one of my favorite character actors. As with Tim Curry, you can tell a lot about a person by where they know John from.
Lin's son and family are very lucky to hear these top charters before being released.

It is an amazing, relatable movie with beautiful animations and then you add such an amazing soundtrack? It’s just a great experience!
Do yourself a favor and watch it.
Everything about the movie is just incredible! I have never seen such talents all put together to create a masterpiece. All respect to John and Lin-Manuel and to all the cast and creators of the movie!

Singing causes vibration in the chest, which leads to better circulation and respiratory healing. Laughter does the same thing, but is harder to sustain. Keep singing! Hope you are healthy and stay that way!

My 3 month old loves it. We have probably watched it 50 times or more I play it as background noise when we go to sleep. He will literally stop feeding and turn his head to watch it.

Smart on Disney for putting it on D+ so soon, especially during the holidays. It was in theaters for weeks and I barely heard anything about it. Right when it hit D+, my newsfeeds exploded overnight.
I ended up seeing it in theaters Thanksgiving weekend to avoid spoilers. My mom wanted to see it again on Disney Plus
I am so proud of Lin-Manuel. I could just yell it to the rooftops. He has a fantastic and phenomenal brain. You make us so proud. 💙
I’ve been a fan of him since I was 17. It was In the Heights. I’m 29 now and I couldn’t be more proud of him in 2021

I do not speak any Spanish, but dos orugitas is my favorite song. It made me FEEL. I didn’t understand any words, but it touched me so deep inside and then I realized the tears were pouring down my face. It is so beautiful.
P.S. Lin said his wife told him it is the best song he has ever written. And I have to agree.
That’s why I enjoyed Encanto and the recent movies . I don’t need a Latina little mermaid or black little mermaid . We just need good movies that show our cultures with originality and grace and class and the amazing comedy that our cultures brought us up in. But I want a Puerto Rican or Caribbean Disney movie. Sharing the cultures etc but making Falcon captain America doesn’t make him cool just tells me he was only cared about if he is captain America when Falcon was putting in work even before that

I’ve said this before but I actually saw/heard Lin Manuel Miranda speak when I was in middle school! His cousin went to the same school (he was older than me) and this was pre-Hamilton, but pretty close to release, so he had more time on his hands. I don’t think any of us had any idea how big he would become at the time but he was a pretty nice guy!

I love how this diverse and dynamic family of ethnic beauty is being embraced so vibrantly! Seeing these images and the exuberance of these scenes brings tears to my eyes. I can't help how moved I am by it all! Well done!

I absolutely love this movie but I wouldn't want a sequel because by itself it is a masterpiece and gives a thoughtful and fulfilling ending. I would prefer prequels to each member of the madrigal family to truly get an even better understanding of each character

I watched it yesterday... It was so beautiful, and the tunes are amazing.
I am so proud of this movie despitethe odds.. Its like the thing you never knew you needed but it shook my not easy to impressed movie critic-self. I was sobing at the greatness of this movie in a movie theater full of kids. Encanto cast and crew I hope you receive how much appreciation this movie has. It is just incredible the top tier animation up till now.
I’m in love with the music, the characters and the animation, and the movie has more layers than an onion!!! Every time I watch it, I see something new and deeper and more relatable. I’m so happy, though, that you took a moment to also appreciate the amazing choreography, because those beautiful dances deserve to be recognized. I’m certain that many of us from several countries in Latin America recognize the cumbia and bachata moves, and the way skirts are held to the waist or spread out when dancing in a circle. Those are the steps of our music, the rhythms of our Latin hearts, and I’m so very proud to see them in screen and that the entire world is falling in love with them. Thank you all for giving us Encantó!!! Thank you Lin-Manuel, the cast and the crew for making us feel proud of being Latin American!!

What makes this song really fascinating to be in the top charts is that it has that unique theme unlike the others. We got romantic songs like "A Whole New World," a whole movie soundtrack like "The Lion King," powerful representation songs like "Let it Go," and even the popular villain song "Cruella Devil." For this song, it kind of like in between, not a villain song but not a heroic song either.
The rhythm is what’s different! More fun 💖

I like how they said it was an “instant hit”. Only until it was on Disney +. Before that, no one talked about the movie when it hit theaters. I thought it was a good movie and loved it’s songs and was actually disappointed no one talked about it. Then it blew up when it was available on Disney+. So proud of its success but still salty no one talked about it when it hit theaters 🙄
