Paula Abdul is one of a kind. She does so much. She writes the songs, sings and dances. She even does the choreography. Heck, she is absolutely great. Her songs are usually upbeat with a fast tempo. She sings and dances in sync to a perfect rhythm. Wow, what a wonderful singer, dancer Paula Abdul is !
...BEING A RETIRED PRO DANCER, (1983-1993), I actually want to CRY, at the sheer BEAUTY of this choreography; VERY busy, intricate, stylized, and, very, VERY hard to do...It has SO many intricacies..... (cont.) ...The flow of ALL the dancers in the back, matching the frontal dancers with Paula (at 1:23), Paula dancing on a scaffolding in HEELS (1:57), the erotic flow of the 'private' dance (2:25), the VERY practiced 'floorslide' (2:55), the in-tandem spins of ALL the dancers (at 3:02...VERY hard to get...) the sexualized choreography (pre-dating Madonna's "Girlie Show" choreo, by 5 years..) (3:44)... ...THIS Video, NOT "Straight Up", shows Paula's choreography at it's PEAK, and I'm HONORED to have studied it, Summer of 1989....I wasn't chosen, but at least I'm not "Cold Hearted", because of it....(4:18) .... ; )
I'm surprised how many comments say she's not that great. Or this video is okay; but straight up shows she hasn't any real talent. Heck: Looking at her career tells the truth. Like: When A list people need someone they came to her. Look at the awards she has. Many came straight from the dance world. A lot of ppl leaving those comments miss that this video is more of a tribute than a showcase for her to sing a pop song. Obviously it has Bob Fosse all over it. Much from All That Jazz is used. I think it also shows the devotion of dancers. To work until their feet bleed to get it right. But this is my view. & I posted it b/c yours & the replies to it are mostly from dancers. And i wonder if I'm maybe ight. Or if I'm reading o much into just a video.
As a pro dancer, do you think Madonna is a good dancer? There was an argument in another thread where a few people were sparring back and forth about who was the better dancer. Janet Jackson or Madonna. I don't think Madonna can dance at all. But, then again, I'm not an expert. That's why I wanted to know what your professional opinion is. Thank you for taking the time to read my post.😊🙏💞😺🍀

Ms. Paula Abdul, I'm SO GLAD that you posted this, your video. I'd NEVER watched this, which was the beginning of MTV, so this is the FIRST TIME WATCHING IT! VERY CLASSY indeed! I was thinking about a relationship with a girl when I immediately thought of this song, and here I am. Without going into alot of explanitives, all I can say is, "WOW!", which is wholey insufficient! This required alot of imagination to pull this off! I really especially liked the violin and the bass, and INTRO, and then the closing scene. . ."NICE!" I was expecting to see a large deadly snake to quickly attack the camera after the title words were sung. It would've been a nice effect. After this song was out, I'll admit, I didn't hear much about you in the geographical area I was living. But finally watching your video, I A.M. I.M.P.R.E.S.S.E.D.! A commenter below said you choreographed this yourself? Seeing this, I believed him, but had to watch it first. I thought soon after your career slowed, the rumour was that you were cheerleading with the Dallas Cowboy Cheerleaders. Was that true?
And the fact that she choreograpged this BY HERSELF? I love her

Madonna? She's not known for being a great dancer.
@@GR-le1msyes she is
The violin part and dance break still gives me chills to to this day.
@@jesc8827, no violins were played in the song's recording. Only synthesizers. Those players are just there for cosmetic purposes.
Anybody watched her Billboard performance? Wow 2019 and still 🔥
I know right?Take that Madonna😉
MADONNA WHO? 😆 LIKE WOW!! PAULA ROCKED IT LIKE 1992!!
She did an amazing performance!!!!!
She showed this generation what a real performer is.
Freaking amazing. Madonna needs to take notes.
The BEST choreographic number of the 80s hands down.
noone can deny that
+Gay Boy Blue probably one of the best to date
Gay Boy Blue No the best ones we're Michael Jackson and Janet Jackson
Paula Abdul also did the choreography for Janet Jackson's song Rhytym Nation. :)
L. Marie she didn't
Her BBMA performance just brought me back to my childhood when I tried to copy all her moves. She’s timeless and BAD ASS!!!
it's her awesome Greek heritage shining through!
Saw Ariana and had to come back to revisit the reference. Still iconic visionary and timeless-the coreo/ dance that Paula had in mind. Wow
Can't tell you how many times I've rewatched 2:53 onwards.... 🔥🔥🔥 Paula is a BEAST.
Still cutting edge. The track and video. Paula did her thing. And that rap? Fire!
This song never gets old! And Paula never got the credit she deserves for being an original artist back in the day!
Yepp
my favorite Paula Abdul video.
💯
I remember my mom said I couldn’t watch this when I was 13. She said it was too provocative. So whenever I would go over to my friends house her mother would let her watch it on MTV. I love this song!! Lol
I wasn't allowed to watch the vast majority of MTV so always went to friends or snuck watching it after school before my mom got home lol
I wonder what your mom would think of WAP
Your Mother did you good. Teaching you boundaries. It's OK to break the rules but always assess the risk.
and now-a-days this is tame compared to Brooke Candy
My mom was the same way! 😂
The difference between overt sexuality and sensuality. One of my faves still.
Can you elaborate, i’m genuinely curious
@@serenitybeats1677 difference between being sensual and sexual?
@@NinaDidnothingwrong yeah
@@NinaDidnothingwrong sexy and provocative without being cheap.
I have loved this song since it first came out. That video was considered "scandalous" back in the 80s, which is probably one reason I loved it.
Hello Dellani
Still one of the best music videos ever!! ❤
Ariana’s fans should listen/watch Paula’s other videos. She had us all in a chokehold in the early 90s. One of the best pop albums EVER. Highly recommend!!!!!! ❤
@@toukdeewhen people say pop perfection I think of this album.
No, because they would stop being her fans 😂

Stop talking about that wannabe, nobody cares and no one will remember her 10 years from now
Timeless hit...
It's still cold hearted snakes out here in 2021.
LOL agreed! 😂👏
Mankind hasn’t really evolved that much.
@@andrewleah1983 true
For real. I know a few.
@@ts121084 the song sounded good but she is a terrible rapper. I think it spoiled it.🤦♂️
Paula Abdul is one of a kind.
Ella es compositora🤗🤗
Paula Abdul doesn’t get the credit she deserves for her dancing skills! Janet Jackson, n Paula Abdul some of the best dancers ever! IMO!
"That spinning jump into the splits, I mean COME ON!"
Anonymous Singer - exactly!! Watch this one too:

"Coco spinning. Her outfit very beautiful. Miss Thang, she is EVERYTHING."
@@3332221000 It can be done, have seen it & OUCH
02:48 ? lol
I get happy tears when I see her do the ballerina spin to land on high heels at 3:03
...BEING A RETIRED PRO DANCER, (1983-1993), I actually want to CRY, at the sheer BEAUTY of this choreography; VERY busy, intricate, stylized, and, very, VERY hard to do...It has SO many intricacies..... (cont.)
...The flow of ALL the dancers in the back, matching the frontal dancers with Paula (at 1:23), Paula dancing on a scaffolding in HEELS (1:57), the erotic flow of the 'private' dance (2:25), the VERY practiced 'floorslide' (2:55), the in-tandem spins of ALL the dancers (at 3:02...VERY hard to get...) the sexualized choreography (pre-dating Madonna's "Girlie Show" choreo, by 5 years..) (3:44)...
...THIS Video, NOT "Straight Up", shows Paula's choreography at it's PEAK, and I'm HONORED to have studied it, Summer of 1989....I wasn't chosen, but at least I'm not "Cold Hearted", because of it....(4:18) .... ; )
The homage to "Take Off with Us." From Bob Fosse's ALL THAT JAZZ is undeniable. One of the greatest music videos ever.
@@michaeldemocko443 ...you KNOW! ...I was going to mention that, but Paula mentioned it in her (VHS) Video collection...
This is what made me love dance even more
I'm surprised how many comments say she's not that great.
Thank you for taking the time to read my post.😊🙏💞😺🍀
chef-d'œuvre, masterpiece !!!
Paula is such a great choreographer, she's amazing, I don't know the words, I just see and enjoy her energy, her legs, her face, she expresses with all of her, just love love her since her first album.
Simply brilliant choreography. Still sexier than anything else out there and without nudity. It's not about skin; it's about attitude.
So true. I would thumbs you up more than once if I could, because so few people don't realize that simple truth.
Amen!
Well there's bare skin in the video but, the Sex moves in the choreographies now are clumsy and kind of lame

My GF watches Dance Moms. If you want to show Abby Lee's dancers what level they need to get at to professionally dance, this is the video
At 2:55, THAT'S what you call a bridge!
They're just rubbing on eachother
Yeah I wish you was still making music. I miss her not to mention she choreographed everybody dance for them.
I love it when you see old videos like this one, that still holds up in 2020 💪 👍🏼. I just love it all!
Ms. Paula Abdul,
I'm SO GLAD that you posted this, your video.
I absolutely love this video. Paula Abdul is truly one of my favorite choreographers.
Mine too.

Such an underrated song and video. Amazing choreography. One of my favorites
TH-cam should be ashamed that they don't post the actual air date of music videos like this. It's 1988 btw.
I came here to see if the " yes and ?" Music video shares the resemblance with this song .. turns out it was exactly.. both are freakin good 🩰🤯❤️🔥
