    I’ve never had a bad zinsser product yet. Have sang their praises from the rooftops. Their 1-2-3 is an absolute work of art. Used It on top of old silk paint rather than cover a house in dust due to sanding.

    Always thought oil-based mold/mildew primer is better than waterbase primers for mold coverage and sealing. In your experience, is one better over the other?

    • @br5499
      @br5499 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Oil is best for most stain blocking but not good over mildew. Oil is organic and can promote mold/mildew growth. Instead use alcohol based shellac or use this zinsser mold killing product. The shellac blocks odors better but you need to remove mold first. This one actually kills mold but may not seal out interior odors or block stains as well as shellac

    If you’re repainting a bathroom, do you put on the mold killing primer before or after putting your final coat of paint on like the color that you want or do they make this mold, killing primer, and other colors that you can choose from? Like what step is first and applying it? Thank you.

    I'm surprised the homeowner is not addressing the source of the mold problem. Painting over it is a bandaid. Do they have a roof drip cap properly installed? I would remove and replace the moldy fascia boards and then encase all the fascia with aluminum. It's a cheap and permanent solution. Otherwise the water will continue to damage the painted wood.

    My apartment has mostly gray mold all over the walls and ceilings and it was due to me being away from the apartment for a few months. I had my windows closed but had a ceiling fan on but it wasn't on high. I'm located in a very humid area. Will this work getting rid of the mold? I have used vinegar to try to get rid of the mold... spray it on wall and ceiling and wait an hour before scrubbing it with a bristle brush. In the areas with a good amount of gray mold, I was able to remove maybe 50% of it. It would then always come back. However, the big areas with a lot of gray mold which is throughout 2 rooms... I barely removed anything at all. Would this mold killing primer be all I need to remove the mold? So I just paint over the ceilings and walls and that is it? I have a ton of mold in these 2 rooms... apartment is just these 2 rooms. I heard you first need to kill the mold first... so that would mean spray vinegar on every ceiling and wall area with gray mold... then scrub all the areas... and even though the gray mold is still clearly visible... you then wait maybe an hour before you go and paint the wall and ceiling with this? The thing is I have a lot of gray mold throughout the ceiling and wall in one room... the other room it's mostly on the walls. The wall and ceiling is cinderblock or possibly concrete I believe. Can you give advice on this?

      I would not use vinegar. Instead, I use bleach water to kill mold in my home. Mix it 1:10 bleach to water. I got a weed sprayer from the hardware store for $10 and it saves so much time. Let it dry - definitely open your windows an put a box fan in the space. Repeat until the mold smell is gone. I've had to do this on all my wall framing after removing the siding and moldy insulation. It can take 6-10 rounds before the smell is gone.
      Secondly, the source of the mold needs to be addressed, otherwise the problem will persist. It may be as simple as a dehumidifier. I hope this helps! - Marisa

    Unfortunately, it is clickbait with that thumbnail. Because in the thumbnail, it's about mold on the inside of the wall. And you won't get rid of that easily with this product before you have addressed the real moisture problem on the outside. Namely, properly sealing the exterior wall so that no moisture enters or rising damp occurs.
