England fan here - really loving this series of interviews that Athers is doing - always civil and sophisticated but still asking pertinent and probing questions.
But a good interview needs a good interviewee, so massive thanks here to Ramiz who has been passionate, honest and engaging. He clearly has an incredibly tough job with incredibly demanding and highly expectant people all around. Hope that they can start producing better pitches to complement the exciting talent we all know they have. Massively missing Afridi and Rauf too in my opinion. Even so, but for a bad session or two here and there they could have won the first Test and could have been far better positioned in this one.

Pakistan was getting indirect help from India. Pakistan Cricket Board receives 50% of its funding from the ICC which is controlled and funded by India. 90% of the ICC's funding comes from India. Infact many of the cricket boards are run by the BCCI's money. BCCI funds the cricket boards of so many associate nations as well. People don't realize how much of a big service BCCI is doing to the cricket community.
India could have destroyed Pakistan cricket by blocking the ICC's funding to Pakistan, if India wanted this to happen. The amount of money generated by the whole PSL season is just a drop in the bucket. The total net worth of PSL is around $500k. The net worth of a single IPL match is $50 million. There was no way PCB could have survived without BCCI's help.

The love that Indians have for cricket isn't just partisan support for their own team, Indians just love cricket. There will be a random stream of county cricket and most of the comments would be by Indians. Cricket Australia gets most of its views because of Indians. If you pull the ratings of the current series b/w Eng and Pak on Sony liv (indian broadcaster) you'll understand level of craze of cricket in India. Now when Ramiz said that Pakistan survived for 10 years without india, he is just simply lying, because what about the millions pakistan earned from the broadcast of its matches in India. So For example
      pak v eng test 1day 1 highlights-
      Pakistan cricket-552k views
      Sony Liv- 1.9 mn views
An Indian channel got 4x amount of views as compared to the pakistani channel. So Indians are basically supporting Pakistan cricket as well.

If the pacers bowl well and maintain their lines and lengths they'll be rewarded with reverse swing arriving later, if the spinners bowled the right lengths they would also get turn and the batsmen also have a nice time batting when they settle in. What is even more fascinating is how Pakistan have had no Cricket played on home soil for 12 years yet The gap between England and Pakistan is Minimal. T20 Final was close, the last 2 Test matches between the two teams were very close Pakistan have won a T20 world cup and Champions trophy in during this time also and whenever Pakistan come to England The Test series is always very competitive. Pakistan have had almost Zero Domestic cricket infrastructure up until the PSL started 2 years or so ago. No Pakistani player has been allowed to play in the IPL since its inception in 2008. However pakistan more often than not always their in Finals and semi finals in all formats of White ball cricket. In terms of Sports science, Nutritionists, Fielding, coaches and facilities and finances, England are decades ahead of pakistan yet on the pitch there is very little to choose between the two countries.
