Typically for any sustained time outside below freezing your herbicide could start to freeze up. The herbicide is still active when frozen but it just won't come out of the bottle once it freezes.
You will need to get the herbicide beyond the cambium layer, which is just beneath the bark, to allow the herbicide to translocate and kill the trees. But yes, you can use this method to save your pecans from the oaks.
Should I be using this cocktail or Craig Harper’s cocktail which is Garlon 3A-50%, water-40% and arsenal ac-10% ? The cocktail in this video along with Craig Harper’s are both being presented on this channel. Is one more effective than the other or equally effective? Thanks.
Okay, I know this video is 3 years old, but I cannot find anyone who has the basil oil with dye. What has happened and what would I use now with the Garlon 4, to do hack and squirt?
Interesting you can't find the basil carrier. You can use: garlon 3A @ 50% water @40% arsenal AC @ 10% *MIXED IN THAT ORDER* th-cam.com/video/6D6cBmRiH3Q/w-d-xo.html
I know this is old too lol. Keystone Pest Solutions has competitive pricing and has Basal Oil. If your spelling was off it would throw off your search too. Hope you found some already though.
Great video. Simplifies and makes everything convenient. Thanks for sharing your knowledge.
Glad it was helpful!
Thank you, I had to look through a bunch of videos to find the name of the chemicals we need.
Thanks!!
You are welcome!
Do you have links for these products?
How low can the temperature be for the herbicide to still effectively kill the tree?

I spray gallon 4 for power company we cut it with diesel and use industrial blue dye
We see what those power lines look like, that clearly does the trick lol.
Is glyphosate the best alternative in states where you cannot purchase Garlan 4 Ultra without a license?
Does this work well for honey locust trees? I have an infestation I'm trying to reduce.
Could I use this in oak trees that are invading my pecan trees space- if I apply it directly to the trees’ bark?

When mixing one gallon, what is the ratio of the garlan4 to your oil mix? Is the oil mixture a vegetable oil? If not, why not just use diesel?

They are certainly both effective. Dr. Harpers mix is probably what we see more commonly used. Just depends on the availability of the chemicals.
@@Whitetail_Properties ok great and thanks for the quick response 🙏🏼✝️🦃🦌‼️

Hi, I presume that doing this during winter months would not have any effect on the trees?
No, it works. Just don’t do hack and squirt method when sap is rising.
I didn’t think herbicide worked in cold weather
Will this work on pine trees
Yes!
Thank you
Just use a backpacker sprayer
Sickening we farm the old way not the lazy way we work with hands and mules
This is basically modern slash and burn, which pre dates the use of mules, but sure the old way.
