He was my ob!! I loved him so much, he never made me feel uncomfortable to ask even the most invasive questions about a women’s body while I was going through my first pregnancy and I was so nervous!
I felt the same about my obgyn! I was skeptical about having a male for that position, but he made all the difference. My daughter's birth was a very relaxed experience, I didn't yell or scream. He was an excellent coach and I felt like a true warrior after labor!
Actually pretty useful information. Many women come to labor and delivery because they think one of these "soft signs" means the baby is coming right away. They end up wasting several hours and if it is in the middle of the night, a good nights sleep. The point is that these signs don not mean it is "show time". Hopefully this can save some women a bunch of stress and some needless worry.
Hi Dr, I am 39 years old and had my first child at late 38 by c-sec. Could I have my next child delivered as VBAC ? My first c-sec was done because I was overdue and my Gyn said the baby had meconium that’s why she’d to done the c-sec. Please let me know can I go for vbac at age 40 or above ?
thank you for your video between this and a few other videos it helped validate my opinion that i needed to take my wife to hospital regardless of what the hospital said. 5hrs later she gave birth naturally to our beautiful baby boy. thank you for your video.
With my first I knew I was in labor because the contractions were painful, regular from the start, got closer together and more painful with time. For me it was obvious what was going on. I lost my mucus plug at 39 weeks and the contractions started that night. I had my stubborn 8lb baby 2 days later via c section. My labor experience was so excruciating and drawn out that the c section was total relief. I loved it. I am 34 weeks with my 2nd daughter and getting a repeat c section. I don't want to risk suffering needlessly like that again.
Its not worthless information, if you want to go waist your time in the hospital go ahead. Its good to know this information so you don't get confused with real labor...

It’s good to see someone talking about these signs don’t mean labour is imminent, or going to happen right away. My first baby I had no signs labour was around the corner (he wasn’t engaged, no major pressure in my crotch, no bloody show or cramping etc), and he arrived at 39 weeks and 6 days - so just before the due date. I had actually thought I’d go over, so was kind of surprised. My second ended up needing to be medically induced at exactly 38 weeks because of complications, but leading up to that I didn’t have any early signs (no major engagement, or mucus plus/bloody show). I had a quick/smooth 2 hour induction tho, so body ‘seemed’ to be ready. Now I’m currently 39 weeks and 2 days with my third, and my goodness what a tease this has been!! She’s been SUPER low and engaged since 36 weeks (confirmed via several scans as well as all the pressure I’ve been feeling). I got a little bit of bloody show at 36 weeks and 5 days, which was followed by some light cramping but ultimately went nowhere (& no more bloody show since). I’ve been losing snotty mucus plug daily for weeks. Her head is constantly right in my pelvis giving me painful lighting crotch/nerve pain. I have had several periods of crampy-ness that go nowhere. Honestly, given all theses “signs” I had assumed she’d have well and truly arrived by now, but nope… nothing!! I honestly feel at this point like I am going to go overdue, which is so ironic that the pregnancy I actually had early pre-labour signs with, is going to be my most drawn out pregnancy 😂😂😂
Wow what a roller coaster! Truly is amazing how all pregnancies can be sooo different even from the same mama! Curious to know when your 3rd was finally born?
Very calming video! Expecting twins have 4 weeks until my goal of 36 weeks but I have had my higher baby drop and have seen more discharge then what I’m used to seeing throughout my pregnancy so I bet my girls will be here soon!
My mucus plug came out at home and my son was born 6 hours later. But I had been having contractions too. I was 37 weeks. He was also born a week after he dropped.
You give me hope! I lost my mucus plug yesterday and just now in small chucks. I’ve had contractions for 2 months. I’m so done! My due date was yesterday.
All of those signs were true for me. First I lost my "mucus plug" on a Sunday afternoon, then had mild abdominal pain much like a menstrual cramp start at 1am Monday, then the cramping got progressively stronger and closer together and I went to the hospital Monday afternoon and I was checked and was dilating fast so they kept me, but my baby NEVER dropped even though the contractions became overlapped so they did a C-section early in the morning and my baby girl came at 7:15am. Healthy, 8lbs. 1oz, 20 and 1/2 inches :)
I have 3cm opening, ripe soft cervix, lost mucus plug and bloody show 3 days ago, and a little decrease in amniotic fluid. Still nothing 39weeks 2days. Dropping idk, Ive always been able to breath deeply even tho baby kicks near ribs.I never ever had pelvic pressure only bladder pressure. Drsaid she is low and ready tho... but I dont feel it. She wants to induce if I go over 40 weeks so I want this baby to come :P
38 weeks and 1 day today, I had my mucous plug/bloody show come out at 1:00pm. I've had a constant low backache for the past two days that has kept me in bed. The backache does not go away even when I move. I hope this means baby boy is coming soon :)
I had all of these things happened at very early during my 2nd pregnancy and was very stressed as i had one miscarriage with my first pregnancy, but the midwives did not acknowledge my concerns when i had all these symptoms starting with snotty looking discharge. I feel like i have been let down by those health professionals who completely ignore the fact of my previous history and the symptoms at that point of time with 2nd pregnancy. Instead they kept relating all of that to anxiety. I am lucky that even though my baby was born quite premature at 24 weeks, now nearly 2 years she is a beautiful lil girl of mine. I wish those health professionals should have picked the cues and signs.
I had bloody show at 38 weeks and 6 days. I honestly thought it was my water because of the amount and how runny it was. I went to the hospital and it wasn't my water but they monitored me for an hour. I went from 3cm to 5cm so they kept me broke my water and I had my son 3 hours later lol. sometimes it's a good idea to go to the hospital just in case😉

Im 40 wks today. Have not had a single contraction or lost my mucus plug.shes been head down for at least 5 wks.. And ive been dilated 1cm for at least 3 wks now. Im prolly gonna get induced this Wednesday. I jus want her out already 💚
I started having lower back pain and period like cramps in my belly. There was occasional cervical pains and my s/o thought it was just Braxton Hicks. I felt something wrong and he took me to the hospital, was in labor at 33 weeks..
38 weeks and 3 days today! Only thing I’ve had was lightening. I really don’t want to go past 40 weeks. I prefer sometime in 39 weeks my daughter comes. But I’m losing faith! Where’s my bloody show or mucus plug! Last two weeks a couple nights I was getting slight cramps and Braxton Hicks at night but since I became 38 weeks the cramps don’t come and even the BH eased up so much 😩
Savannah Rose congratulations I’m 33 weeks measuring at 34 weeks baby has been head down since the beginning. I get contractions but they don’t last but boy do they stop me in my tracks. This is my 3rd baby and we are all ready to meet her!
Tamara Austin Congratulations❣ The little one I just had was our 5th The only advice I think I can give on a friend a friend basis would be to keep an eye on the contractions I know it 34 weeks babies turn out just fine but as you know the longer we can keep them in there the better I know it's painful and its uncomfortable but as you know at the end it's all worth it. I wish you a very safe delivery and a happy healthy beautiful baby after❣🤗
every time i have lost my plug which has a thin line of pink in a big chunk of clear/white stretchey mucus i go into labor that day or the next morning. this happened with all 3 of my kids. when i lose the plug, ill start getting some lower back pain which through out the day gets stronger and then eventually start to wrap around front and i start contracting and then the contractions just get closer and stronger.
Pregnant with my second ..and I am so nervous cuz my first was easy since I had the epidural and it was quick ..but this one is so different and painful and I don't want to get the epidural again so I just hope I can cope with the pain :/
my baby’s always been head down. that usually doesn’t mean you will be early, it’s just a good thing that you don’t have to worry about a having a breech baby :)
I ignored the bloody show for two days, my doctor sent me to the hospital for a check up and turns out my water broke 😫 It's important to follow up with your doctor when you think something is off.
I love this doctor demeanor... so knowledgeable yet so down to earth. I'm currently 7 weeks pregnant.. Can you please be my Obstetrician? where are you located?
Stronger then Infertility....maybe you should probably stop having kids and go back to grade school...you can't spell or form coherent sentences. This man is a doctor and knows what he's talking about.
Stronger then Infertility when did he say you wont lose your mucus plug? he was talking about losing it. every single pregnant woman loses their mucus plug. even if you lose it super early during pregnancy (ex. 7 weeks) you will either miscarriage or if you find out early enough, you can go to the doctor and get something called cerclage (? i think thats what the name is) basically it fills where the cervix would naturally form a plug, so you have less chance of losing the pregnancy. other than that, every woman has a mucous plug and loses it. whether you realized losing it or not. you did. some women dont know they lose it if it falls out in the toilet or in the shower. but you surely had a mucus plug and absolutely lost it at some point during your pregnancy, normally right before the onset of labor.
adriana tuimavave allot of people don't notice when they loose their mucus plug :) they just wipe it away or it breaks away in allot of different bits so it's almost undetectable unless you're wiping and checking the color (tinted yellow, pink, brown, red...) or it comes out when your water breaks! But it always comes out.
From what I remember my first was easier. Which might not be much tho bc its been so long even I'll be having 2nd thoughts like was she that big? 🤔 bc I def dont remember my snatch hurting this much
so thankful for this! my doctor doesn’t go into details about anything and it makes me anxious and worried! I’m 35 weeks and I’ve “lost my mucus plug” and have had some lightening but he definitely hasn’t dropped fully & no bloody show! so thank you tons! does loose bowel often mean it could happen in the next few weeks?
I am going through cryptic pregnancy. 6 years pregnant now with cancer and no doctor that's why I watch these. God is my doctor because nobody else wants to be. Having multiples
I am 39 weeks and 2 days pregnant but have had no contractions , pain or any other sign of labour at all. Very worried when will this all be over. Awaiting impatiently as baby has not even dropped yet...
I started hurting really bad down there but I never lost my mucus plug I am 34 weeks and 3 days left and I can't walk I can't do much I want go out sind and play with my one year old and my 3 year old but I can't because my feet hurt so much and I hurt down there
You right about the heavy bleeding thats what I'm going through that with really strong contractions. I'm definitely having those signs of early labor.
I have spurts or random leaking in out my (vagina) it trickles down randomly while I’m walking my dog or stand up or working. Some times it’s like a palM ful. Idk. It happens a lot .. it’s not even urine . I’m confused ?
is it necessary that mucus plug has to be red pink or brownish in colour? I'm 39 weeks n experiencing a lot of mucus discharge white and sometimes offwhite in colour. is this occasional heavy discharge my mucus plug slowly coming out?
My Makeup Tackle Box I’m late but if your amniotic fluid is leaking, you need to go to the hospital right away. That is an automatic admission because if you don’t have baby within 24 hours your baby can get a bad infection.
I am 36 weeks pregant have a lot signs of labor I am being induced at 39 weeks January 24 but I hope my water breaks before 39 weeks because I really don't wanna be induced
I did bleed bad for one of my daughters and when i got to hospital was 6cm. For another i did had nasty mucus plug and like 5 days after broke water when in labor. The dropping on the belly is definitely thruth doesn't mean u in labor. For my son also i bleed few times throughout pregnancy especially during sex and let me clear i never had no rough sex during pregnancy. And was very common for me to bleed during 2 of my pregnancies...for my last one ..i had what is called a titanic contraction. I had this huge contraction that wouldn't go away not every 5 min or nothing. My belly stood like that for over and hour and i drove to midwife and i was still hard as a rock and still hard 2 hours later wen i got to hospital. And i was 4 cm. They gaved me something to soft bc wouldn't go away. By the way i had 7 pregnancies. 6 girls 1 boy. I decided to have all my babies as long as i could bc my 1st born died was a girl :( so the lord bless me with 5 more girls and 1 boy :) now i have a beautiful family and 7 grandbabies 🤗🥰 and ama a young grandma am 42 and was a grandma at 36... HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY 05/12/2019 🌹🥀

Great Advice, i have a midwife and im 37.5 weeks and expecting a 9-10 lbs baby. You seem like a great OBGYN.. considering moving to the inland empire of California??. lol :)
The lightning crotch and discharge have been on point the past week and a half or so, but doctors have such a hard time finding my cervix lol I think it's off to one side, if I can remember properly, and really far back lol. 38 weeks, 3 days and ready for baby boy!!
Im 40 week and 1 day now pregnant and i have a lot of blood flows out its sign of labor? .. Wat will i do .. ? But i never feel a pain in my back or tummy.. Plss help me
I'm just a little confused about the plug because all my doctors and nurses have said it was a pig in my cervix. I've read books and watched videos and it's all said the same thing it's when the plug comes out of ur cervix. so this is the first time I'm ever hearing the plug as just a build up of discharge. I've never had mucous discharge during my whole pregnancy except for the time my plug came out and that's it. so if someone could clear this up for my that would be amazing.
Stronger then Infertility I had my mucus plug come out at 28 weeks with my son and didn't go into labor until being induced at 40 weeks lol an with my daughter I lost my mucus plug and went into labor 2 weeks later . so losing your mucus plug doesn't mean your going into labor at all it all depends everyone is different.
Please help am 40 weeks now i had an internal exam after that in an hour i had blood and the day later i started having mucusy watery discharge its been two days and baby is pushing her self down really hard how long do you think i have till labor am tired of going to the er and nothing happens
So yes perfectly put...But I am an Islander women from the Island of Waikiki....So all that stuff happens naturally but water breakage is the build up of Labor pains that causes a sign of the water about to break...Then maybe...leak....pour...burst or something...Now what happens ?...Well the pregnant woman then feels ready for...My experience walking and getting more results...So far... I feel Labor pains but no contractions... Not enough pain nor pressure to time...So they don't last along time but they do pause me right in my place....So stronger lasting real contraction can be timed and starts at about 2-3 days from the activity causing the rest of the water to flow out...leads to a much calmer birth...Then its time to go to the hospital and in due time the baby's born...Right ? I think so, MAA approved
my girlfriend is 37week's 4day's and some mucus plug came out she took a picture of it with the phn and stretch it to show the thickness it's our 1st baby it's a boy
I never had my mucus plug or bloody show happen to me when I had my son. My water didn’t even break I was 10 cm dilated and my water didn’t break until the nurse checked me and she broke my water. I wonder if it will be like that this time around. Currently 38 weeks
Same for me. Never had my plug loss, that I noticed.. never any bleeding.. water never popped. Just had mild cramping...and one hell of an attitude...then went to ER to find out I went from 2cm to 5 cm in an HR and had her in 20 min

Omg I wish you were my doctor!!! You can tell your a doctor that actually care.
you are such an awesome doctor. you are clearly passionate about your job. wish you were my OB. there's too many useless doctors.
Excellent video doctor 👍🏿!! I really enjoy the way you explain things. I am learning so much as a doula 🤗! Thanks for sharing ☺️!
Update..
Baby boy born 7/31/2018
@ 1:11am 7 lb even 20 in long❣😍
Savannah Rose congratulations I’m 33 weeks measuring at 34 weeks baby has been head down since the beginning. I get contractions but they don’t last but boy do they stop me in my tracks. This is my 3rd baby and we are all ready to meet her!
Tamara Austin
Congratulations❣
The little one I just had was our 5th
The only advice I think I can give on a friend a friend basis would be to keep an eye on the contractions I know it 34 weeks babies turn out just fine but as you know the longer we can keep them in there the better I know it's painful and its uncomfortable but as you know at the end it's all worth it.
I wish you a very safe delivery and a happy healthy beautiful baby after❣🤗
Savannah Rose thank you so much yes I totally agree I am hoping she waits until 36 weeks at least
Im 36 weeks i want him out😥 he so heavy & causes alot of pain
Ha! That’s my son’s birthday! (Born in 2009.) congrats!
every time i have lost my plug which has a thin line of pink in a big chunk of clear/white stretchey
mucus i go into labor that day or the next morning. this happened with all 3 of my kids. when i lose the plug, ill start getting some lower back pain which through out the day gets stronger and then eventually start to wrap around front and i start contracting and then the contractions just get closer and stronger.
The only video that made me actually relax!! Thank youuuu
This was so much more informative than my actual doctor
EXACTLY
Same , my Dr doesn't care
I'm 38 weeks and 4 days and I had all of theses signs but not the blood show yet ! I'm trying to waittttt
I can't wait to see my baby boy ♡♡
Pregnant with my second ..and I am so nervous cuz my first was easy since I had the epidural and it was quick ..but this one is so different and painful and I don't want to get the epidural again so I just hope I can cope with the pain :/
I'm having watery pink discharge at 2 centimeters and 70 percent effaced for 4 days now. I'm 32 weeks pregnant.
Thank you this was so helpful saved me some hours at the hospital and calmed my nerves
I am 32 weeks pregnant and feel like I will go into labor early because this kid has been head down for a while.
my baby’s always been head down. that usually doesn’t mean you will be early, it’s just a good thing that you don’t have to worry about a having a breech baby :)
kayla from hawaii sexy drabeach
all those signs he said dont go to the hospital for i went anyway and each time i was in active labor
I ignored the bloody show for two days, my doctor sent me to the hospital for a check up and turns out my water broke 😫 It's important to follow up with your doctor when you think something is off.
Regular Contractions are the first signs of labour. One needs to be at the hospital within an hour of the bleeding of the amniotic fluid....
I love this doctor demeanor... so knowledgeable yet so down to earth. I'm currently 7 weeks pregnant.. Can you please be my Obstetrician? where are you located?
Me too! I like him a lot! He explains things so clear
Stronger then Infertility
well I had my son and daughter and never lost my mucus plug whatsoever and had them naturally. so idk everyone is different.
😥💔 I wish i seen this video back when i had my 1st born they gave me a c-section because they have me the wrong meds i wasnt educated on anything 😞😞
My mucus plug came out and then 3 hours later my water broke so I think it’s important sign!
purplesuninthesky my mucus plug and bloody show came out 10 days ago and the baby hasn’t arrived yet lol
My mucus plug still aint came out yet and im scheduled to get induced tomorrow....i will be 38 weeks tomorrow
😢i am getting more discharge.
Im39 weeks and 3 dias.
And im scared out of my mind.
Its my 2nd baby.. With my first it was so much diffrent
From what I remember my first was easier. Which might not be much tho bc its been so long even I'll be having 2nd thoughts like was she that big? 🤔 bc I def dont remember my snatch hurting this much
@@ahhwe-any7434 my second ended up being 10pounds at birth
so thankful for this! my doctor doesn’t go into details about anything and it makes me anxious and worried! I’m 35 weeks and I’ve “lost my mucus plug” and have had some lightening but he definitely hasn’t dropped fully & no bloody show! so thank you tons! does loose bowel often mean it could happen in the next few weeks?
Yes it does
I am going through cryptic pregnancy. 6 years pregnant now with cancer and no doctor that's why I watch these. God is my doctor because nobody else wants to be. Having multiples
I'm sorry my friend things will be okay ,there's no one better then god so don't worry dear .❤️
oh thanks that i found this video i have a bloody show and its been 3 days since, but no labor yet this enlighten me thank you so much
Also call your ob if any of this happens just to keep them in the loop and they may want you to come in just to make sure!!!
I wish this was updated I wish he could replay to people I feel like my doctors don’t even care about what going on with me
I am 39 weeks and 2 days pregnant but have had no contractions , pain or any other sign of labour at all. Very worried when will this all be over. Awaiting impatiently as baby has not even dropped yet...
Look at some exercises to induce labor. It also helps your cervix and will make labor and delivery easier
Can you please explain what a membrane sweep does? Thank you
I started hurting really bad down there but I never lost my mucus plug I am 34 weeks and 3 days left and I can't walk I can't do much I want go out sind and play with my one year old and my 3 year old but I can't because my feet hurt so much and I hurt down there
I know this doctor!!! He's wonderful! :D
My baby have been lower since month 1. He/she been below my belly button ever since😭. I’m 38 weeks now.
I am 31 week pregnant having white discharge and blood spoting. Wht might be the reason?
With my first pregnancy I had mucus plug then went into labour but this time I’ve lost it and nothing yet
What if i have placenta previa and mucus plug or brown discharge came out at early 30 weeks?? Is it still normal???
Thanks for explaining the mucus plug
is it necessary that mucus plug has to be red pink or brownish in colour? I'm 39 weeks n experiencing a lot of mucus discharge white and sometimes offwhite in colour. is this occasional heavy discharge my mucus plug slowly coming out?
39weeks and today i hav seen mucus with blood and i dont think is orange or what
When I had my mucus plug dropped I had my baby the same day so what you said isn't accurate
When does labor typically start, after mucus plug comes out and amniotic fluid starts leaking?
My Makeup Tackle Box I’m late but if your amniotic fluid is leaking, you need to go to the hospital right away. That is an automatic admission because if you don’t have baby within 24 hours your baby can get a bad infection.
My doctor said my cervix is 50% effaced but I can’t say I’ve had any “mucus plug” signs 🥺 and his head is engaged idk I’m confused
HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY 05/12/2019 🌹🥀
Woooowwwww❤️
Aww❤️❤️
Ratchet
@@atruenut why?.?? This is an obstetrician page. Am not disrespecting anymore....topic is about labor and signs ☺ not rathet and my 5 girls are from the same dad ...then he died and a remarried had 2 more..why is that ratchet 😏😬 am kinda confused 😕
Great Advice, i have a midwife and im 37.5 weeks and expecting a 9-10 lbs baby. You seem like a great OBGYN.. considering moving to the inland empire of California??. lol :)
Jessica Segars god I wish he would be great to have as an OB
The lightning crotch and discharge have been on point the past week and a half or so, but doctors have such a hard time finding my cervix lol I think it's off to one side, if I can remember properly, and really far back lol. 38 weeks, 3 days and ready for baby boy!!
Im 38 week 39 weeks next week monday.. i have discharges everytime im go to the toilet. Having also a slight construction.
I lost my plight at 28 weeks and the baby dropped down into my pelvis at 29 weeks. I'm nearly 35 now so...
Im 40 week and 1 day now pregnant and i have a lot of blood flows out its sign of labor? .. Wat will i do .. ? But i never feel a pain in my back or tummy.. Plss help me
How can I get py
I'm just a little confused about the plug because all my doctors and nurses have said it was a pig in my cervix. I've read books and watched videos and it's all said the same thing it's when the plug comes out of ur cervix. so this is the first time I'm ever hearing the plug as just a build up of discharge. I've never had mucous discharge during my whole pregnancy except for the time my plug came out and that's it. so if someone could clear this up for my that would be amazing.
plug in my cervix*
Stronger then Infertility I had my mucus plug come out at 28 weeks with my son and didn't go into labor until being induced at 40 weeks lol an with my daughter I lost my mucus plug and went into labor 2 weeks later . so losing your mucus plug doesn't mean your going into labor at all it all depends everyone is different.
Break a blood vessel gosh it sounds horrific and i'm yet to experience all of this..
Please help am 40 weeks now i had an internal exam after that in an hour i had blood and the day later i started having mucusy watery discharge its been two days and baby is pushing her self down really hard how long do you think i have till labor am tired of going to the er and nothing happens
must the mucus look drawn Pls? seeing some, but not drawy. will be 38 on Monday. my female organ seems as if the bones wants to burst open
I'm 38 weeks and I haven't had any of these symptoms yet. What is wrong with my body... 😩
Are there more of these signs?
Great video:-) my baby can come
any day now🥰can‘t wait...
Totally unrelated but wow he looks like bobby Moynihan (actor from snl)
I am 31 weeks and had just three spots of blood, is it normal or what should I do. Please reply
my girlfriend is 37week's 4day's and some mucus plug came out she took a picture of it with the phn and stretch it to show the thickness it's our 1st baby it's a boy
I'm 35 weeks pregnant and 5 days and my vagina has been really sore to where it hurts to walk...any idea what is going on?
I never had my mucus plug or bloody show happen to me when I had my son. My water didn’t even break I was 10 cm dilated and my water didn’t break until the nurse checked me and she broke my water. I wonder if it will be like that this time around. Currently 38 weeks
Same for me. Never had my plug loss, that I noticed.. never any bleeding.. water never popped. Just had mild cramping...and one hell of an attitude...then went to ER to find out I went from 2cm to 5 cm in an HR and had her in 20 min
