i've been learning to forage for years....know a few standards chaga etc etc. Learned more in 40 mins than in 10 years thanks kindsir field manual purchase'd. Thanks to the kind and precise camera lady Linsay.
Picked up a nice bag of trooping funnels today: 200 yards from my front door: promptly pickled them in white wine and cider vinegar, with some home grown chili, garden herbs, spice and a few wild garlic buds left from my spring foraging. Thanks for all your educational and entertaining viddys, Marlowe, and I recommend anyone to buy your foraging book, its bouncing with goodness!
@@WildFoodUK1 Yes, it was great, I picked a lot more super-troopers this year, some fresh (they keep for at least two weeks in the fridge) some for the freezer, some for pickles. Had some more tonight with a spicy beef 'n bean casserole as it happens. I honestly have no idea why this mushroom isn't as well treasured as the penny buns or chanterelles, because it is a culinary classic, a bit like a King Oyster really.
A RahRah skirt? You're so funny Thank you for making this video, once again, so enjoyable. You manage to help beginners yet hold the attention of the more seasoned forager.
loved the video..so informative.didnt know mushrooms grew in winter time aswell. m from bhutan which is pretty hilly and super cold in the winters..but i am definitely gna chek out the forests around here.thanks!keep up the good work
great to see another uptick in the production quality, marlow - do consider a small lapel mic to keep the volume level constant, your advice is so valuable and well thought out its a shame to lose any of it - also shoot a few variations on your b-roll to keep the transitions between mushrooms engaging - splendid work - looking forward to another course next year!
No one cares about sound quality. He is audible and intelligible. So many creators, especially small ones, get comments from a small but vociferous minority of sound snobs and I've seen it cause no end of unnecessary worry, expense and discouragement. Most will be listening through awful smartphone speakers, integrated monitor speakers or earbuds. It doesn't matter. As long as the gain level os loud enough to hear through all of these, it's fine. (Shoutout to BigMoodEnergy for running a successful and engaging channel with atrocious audio production standards.)
@@jimcrelm9478 they were just offering some constructive criticism in a fairly gentle and friendly way. their suggestion is a pretty inexpensive one. definitely not being a sound snob 💖
Went on a course with Wild Food UK yesterday in Crawley, an amazing experience with a homemade meal at the end using the foraged mushrooms. Felt great to support you guys too, keep it up!
Excellent stuff again mate . Thanks again for another Informative, and interesting video . I'm going to have a forage for some white hedgehog, wood blewits and trooping funnels this weekend. Wish me luck . Cheers ,and happy foraging .
I can't wait to go foraging for hedgehog mushrooms! I am somewhat of a novice myself so as long as it is fully white, out of the ground, spread cap, and pointy spine-gills I should be all good!
Love your work 💞 I have been in UK for nearly 20 years. This is my first year of mushroom hunting lol learn a lot from you. So happ for free food from the forest 😍
The little jingle and footstep video that you use as a link is now etched into my brain after this video 🤣 I think you should record a few different ones for the next video 😝
I love your seasonal / monthly type videos, I love foraging but don’t have the time to get out as much ad I’d like, or the brain space to remember everything I’ve seen or read if I’m not applying it, so this type of video gives me a booster of inspiration and some good current info to go try and apply… so thanks for the great videos, much appreciated! Hope the chow mein was good 👌
Thank you for sharing this knowledge! I am so passionate about fungi and how they can do so many wonders for our mother earth and it's inhabitants. I am teaching myself to grow medicinal mushrooms to help heal, so I guess I am a beginner mycologist. Thank you for sharing your wisdom! I am learning so much 💚
I started watching your video's last year and started foraging this autumn, it's such a calming and rewarding thing to do. Thanks to your video's ive correctly identified and eaten multiple species. Last week i found a massive boletus edulis, and it was delicious
Really appreciate your effort Marlow, I have your book and have learnt soo much over the last few years, maybe one day il be as confident as you. I find mushrooms absolutely fascinating.
Just wanted to say that i don't watch this kinda stuff on youtube and i don't go foraging or anything, but i find you and your videos very chill and interesting and i enjoy watching them.
I knew that your last mushroom was going to be the Trooping one. I found a huge Troop yesterday whilst out. It smelt mushroomy and I was tempted but not confident enough to bring home for the pot. I so hope they're still there. I'm going back to retrieve this lovely treasure. Thank you for your invaluable information on my favourite organisms..🍁🍂🍄🐶🐾
Another great video. Really find your narrative helpful and clear. For some reason It's only giving me the option to dislike the video (which I won't do) and not like. But I very much like.
Just made my day. I’m colour blind too and always wonder how much it would hold me back with mushroom ID. I’ve learned so much from watching your videos and your knowledge is amazing so it’s reassuring to know!
I picked some lovely shaggy ink caps last night on my way home and had them for breakfast. But my favourite mushrooms are chicken of the woods and hedgehog mushrooms 😍😍 your videos helped massively in safely identifying them . 👍👍👍
Really hope to find a chanterelle when I have the time, though recently found a Horse mushroom first time with it's nice aniseed smell. Also a Dirty brown capped russula near an oak that I'm not 100% sure about just yet. Gonna need a bigger book for it lol.
Thank You so much for making those amazing videos ✨🙏 Definitely learned new about orange milk cup and your best funnels 😅 Going to get your book also ✨
Great informative video Marlow.. I'm taking an informal walking group out in Herefordshire tomorrow and it's always great to know a little about any mushrooms we might encounter around now.. Been a long time since we shared a pint at the Temeside.. Hope you guys well and good.. :) (Andy)..
Randomly stumbled onto this video tonight with some friends and we were totally engrossed!! Really fascinating to learn so much about these mushrooms, even though we're not even in the UK. I liked how non-intrusive you guys were with digging up mushrooms by the root and avoiding rare species. Thanks for the video!!
Having seen your previous videos on the Clouded Agaric I read-up and took the plunge by testing a small amount. After no ill effects I've become partial to it fried off (well fried) with some butter and garlic. Love your videos Marlow, thanks for all the great content you put out there. Happy wishes to you and your family.
In Catalunya we call the winter Chanterelle Yellow foot [Camagroc}. Lovely in omelettes, with pasta, rice or in any kind of stew. Plenty of them on the Isle of Wight.
You walking over the same patch of forest after every segment made me laugh. Great vid though. My new hobby is foraging, mainly for magics, but I’ve learnt a lot from you guys. 👍🏻
That green mushroom looks like an interesting little character. I've never seen one of those before. I was out yesterday in the woods and came across a large group of Trooping Funnels. I picked a couple and will try them today for the first time. I've had a good look on the web to make sure they are indeed those mushrooms and as mine are over 10cm wide I am confident that I've identified them correctly. They have the umbo in the middle anyway so I don't they're any other type of mushroom.
nice video as always! you lucky having plenty of rains, in my area there is almost none, went for honey mushrooms but found only few old oysters, still delicious though
The possibilities are almost infinite: and I love experimenting with foraged and/or garden grown veggies and herbs. Lockdown has taught me a lot: there is massive value in every hedgerow and woodland walk.
dehydrate and powder up so you can store them and add to your food, the dehydration process enhances the flavours about 40% ish . ive got flavours from years back still stored
Great video as always, I'm in Ireland and I'm impatiently waiting on your book arriving and hopefully some serious rain as its been very dry here and the mycyllium is plastered everywhere.
We attended one of your courses last week after covid etc prevented us from doing so last year and tried the trooping funnel for the first time. It was great and my wife learnt a lot. I've been foraging for a while now since getting your book 2 winters ago and have found all my targets for the year apart from the horn of plenty. It's an excellent book to refer to. I plan to go out tomorrow morning to try and find some trooping funnels. I can't wait.
Blood caps can lactate orange [Pinetell in Catalan} or wine-dark red {Rovellons in Catalan}. Another characteristic is that they rust green when older, although they're as good. Plus watch for worms [they devour them on the inside]. They're the best grilled with garlic, salt Parsley and olive oil.
Thanks Marlow, great milkcap info , like the brittlecap taste test . And i Have been wondering if i could eat the trooping funnel 🤔. Ill pick some tomorrow and have a try .
Started mushrooming this time last year, Trooping Funnel was the first good edible mushroom I was able to identify which made me ecstatic, as it grew so close to my house! Going back to the woodland today to see if they've returned this year, and hopefully bring some back to try if I can find any unpolluted in good condition... foraging in London is a challenge 😅
Kudos for giving it a go around London! Keeping an eye out for the likelihood of pollution is an extra level of difficulty there if you ask me. There's a healthy sprinkling of trooping funnel near me in the SW so maybe you'll get lucky.
Psychedelics are just an amazing discovery. It's quite fascinating how effective they are for depression and stress..saved my life.
Saw reviews about Mr Winston, checked him out and be I must say he is very good at what he does and his products are pure.
Psychedelics should be done when you are in a right state of mind, but many abuse it…
