Back in the day, “drugstore” and dollar store makeup was just makeup. It’s what everyone used. Maybelline, Wet’n Wild, CoverGirl, Revlon...
There simply was no such thing as Morphe and all that jazz as few as 10 years ago. Makeup was on the grocery list, and you bought it in the same place where you bought your bread and eggs.
Thanks to the internet, accessibility to “high end” brands is more prevalent than ever, and people take it for granted. A lot of people who are just getting into makeup are intimidated by the prices of and pressure to own “influencer brands”.
NYX, a brand that is now carried by the likes of Ulta and Sephora started out as a “beauty supply” brand (the kind of makeup you got from the local wig and weave store). It amazes me how people see using average consumer makeup as some kind of “challenge”.
I’m 34 and have been wearing makeup and observing makeup trends for almost 20 years. I must say that I very much appreciate and enjoyed the video. Thanks for sharing! ❤️

Raze Yes! I remember when Wet n Wild and Revlon was standard and everyone used it. Now if you’re not dropping $60 for eyeshadows you’re looked down on. I seen amazing makeup work with $store brands and crap work with designer makeup. Majority of the time it’s about skill compared to the brand in itself.

Exactly. It's all about skill and technique. I've been slaying my makeup for 20 years, using mostly "drugstore" (aka everyday average people) brands. I have a collection of high end products now, thanks to several beauty box subscriptions, but I rarely buy full size "high end" products. My favorite brands are NYX, Colourpop, and Maybelline. It's true that some cheap products give poor results, but expensive doesn't always mean better, and it kind of irks me that a lot beauty "gurus" tend to send that message. Everything is Morphe, Fenty, Urban Decay...
NYX makes a cream eyeshadow pencil in the color "milk", which is a pure white color. It's the best eyeshadow base I have ever used. It costs $3. Meanwhile, Urban Decay has an "eye primer" that costs $20 and still creases...
Raze Raze Raze YAS! I always joked that I was learning from drag queens before it was cool. I was figuring out techniques and tricks in the bathroom mirror making what I had Work. My favorite eyeshadow primer was really a dollar liquid “high lighter.” Made for a awesome white canvas that also held the powder all day. Can’t remember the brand. Sadly not made anymore. I think it was wet n wild. Favorite eyeshadow palette was a colorworks one that had 30 different colors. Allowed me to have so many colors and I love a dramatic eye. Favorite liquid eyeliner I ever had was Maybelline. It was called black velvet and looked like velvet. It came in a blue and gold container. And there’s always the classic mascara, we all know that pink and green packaging. Lol

OMG YAS! They still make that mascara, and I still use it to this day. They have updated the packaging a bit, but it still performs just like always. It stood the test of time!

Definitely subscribing! First you tuber I’ve saw do a dollar store makeup review that hasn’t completely bashed it and has took into account people’s backgrounds that this may be all they have access to, and they might have to make this work. Growing up this is literally what me and my sister would use, we came from a split household and my dad and mamaw helped raise us. My mamaw wasn’t really into makeup, she never needed it! But, we always had a tight budget and this is the makeup we grew up using and learned to do makeup with! I remember having to go in there and we’d get like 20$ and have to pick out all of the things we wanted. Including our shampoo & other feminine products! But now we obviously are older and work for ourselves and can afford more, but at the time we couldn’t and I remember so many makeup/beauty youtubers bashing the dollar store because I understand you pay for what you get I have definitely notice as things go up in price they’re more pigmented/ easier to work with and maybe blend a little easier but you work with what you have and I think it’s important to reinstate that if you are a girl who loves makeup that this is something you can rock! And I think it is nice that you give actual reviews on the products so that maybe the dollar store does come out with a better concealer! Sometimes it was rough! Thanks girl, also loved the wet n wild new products review! Would love to see a beginners guide and like a how to blend eyeshadow and do eyeshadow tutorial because there really isn’t much of that on TH-cam!

Yup, I luv it. I've bought 2 mac eyebrow gel, and I would rather use the elf gel that I bought from dollar tree. Mac foundation is aight. But drug store foundation feels way better, my opinion.

I told you there's some good hidden gems at Dollar General!! People need to stop sleeping on the cheaper brands! Like I love my ABH, Becca and Buxom stuff , but other brands like LA Colors and Profusion has been killing it lately 💞 adding that eye primer to my list of things to try! By the way, LA Colors foundations has a larger shade range of their products online----not real huge, but bigger than in stores
Use some hydrocortisone cream or 100% shea butter on your eczema. They help so much!! But if you go the shea butter route, don't go overboard!! Too much and you'll be a greaseball

I'm from a small town and I get all my make from Dollar Genera Store cause it's inexpensive. I wear LA Color all the time and Wet & Wild products for over 12 yrs. Have always loved the products. The only product I have issues with and still do is mascara's. We pay from $1 up to $6 for our LA Color Palletes and Wet N Wild Palletes. Also foundations, powders, eyeliners, browliners. I just bought pallets at dollar general today for a $1 and our sponges are $1 and they work better then the more expensive one. It's strange for me to see and hear you guys just found these products that I have been using for years.
I saw this video on my recommended and had to watch because I always buy make up at DG or Family Dollar. I never see any TH-camrs I watch talk about it or hardly any affordable makeup for that matter. It's nice to see someone use stuff I buy and use and love!

I love ShopMissA.com. I love my eyebrow pencil I bought from there. Who can beat it when the makeup is $1 except for some larger palettes. I have ordered so much for my tween daughters stockings this Christmas. They are going to be set for makeup and makeup tools for a good time! Only thing is they sell out of their most popular items real quick. I've been trying to restock my felt tip eyeliner, lip stick, and favorite eyeshadow blending brush for a month or longer. Haven't tried foundation yet but did buy some for my girls. You should do a video on them! I think they sell LA colors too! I love the black teardrop "beauty blender", I replaced by real techniques sponge with it! I also buy the makeup wipes in lavender or cucumber and love the AOA lip pencils! I've ordered once a month for the past 3 months. I'm a true MissA fan!

Alisha Jones Hello luv I’m just now reading your comment and my heart skipped a little because I have a 13 yr old son that had what the doctors called atopic eczema at only the age of 6months old. I walked bumped into a very old Korean guy that saw my son’s skin, he gave me the cure to clear skin and I did exactly what he told me and to my amazement my son skin is absolutely beautiful and clear and smooth. Quick tip. If you like the liner but not the brush, see if one of the liner brushes that you do like will work with that bottle. The same for setting sprays, a lot of times the actual sprayer/nozzle is what people don’t like because the way it sprays out, just pour the liquid in a bottle that you do like the sprayer/nozzle. Love your channel. Love your videos, but I absolutely love your personality!

2nd video i see of yours, BOTH of affordable makeup (dollar tree, dollar general) from 2 of my favorite stores & BAM im hooked instant subscriber! I use this kind of makeup on the daily& always get asked if i shop at sephora etc. But im a firm believer in what my great grandma, grandma & mom say-its NOT what you wear, its HOW you wear it!
La colors makes some great products. Their 2 dollar nail polishes last for a week or more on me and look gorgeous. I use the brow pencil all the time always have a backup on hand. I have also been loving the makeup revolution brow pencil with the angled tip. I used to always take the la colors matte small palettes with me traveling and a colourpop super shock shadow. It didn’t take up very much space and the mattes were actually really good. Not the best, but I didn’t have to worry about my high end palettes breaking or shattering in my makeup bag.
I love the same amazon eye brushes. I have 2 sets of them. I thought I was the only one that had discovered how good they are!
