I’ve been using Dollar Tree makeup for about 5 years and have been very impressed with it. The only thing I don’t use is their foundation, because I have oily skin. For lipstick, eyeshadow, lipgloss, etc. I use Dollar Tree and haven’t seen a reason to spend more money. Dollar Tree is absolutely one of my favorite stores, they have so much stuff and selection for so little money and I am definitely a bargain shopper.

I will spend money on my powders, foundations, concealers and eyeshadow. Dollar trees eyeshadow is unpigmented and smells weird. I love my vibrant, velvety $15 palette!

I guess I lucked up buying Wet n Wild Brushes paid maybe a $1 or $1.59 each. I don't know much about the new makeup applications but do love the wet n wild brushes, white with pink. So soft and come in any size and shape.
It actually does have good coverage. I’ve done the challenge as well awhile back. The foundation actually is pretty decent for $1 and I’m not a big powder person but it does need to be a bit matte as it’s very Dewey so I just used a translucent powder. Blended amazingly. It was very light on my skin and didn’t feel cakey. So for $1 is was worth it
Janese Hunter I agree that she has beautiful skin! But I feel like she wasn’t blessed with it. I think she works really really hard to keep the skin looking young and bright. Self-care takes a lot of time and money!

Kaitlyn & Kaleb I think her eyeliner was dried out because I have gotten it a bunch of times and it is usually pretty thin and liquid-y. I actually don’t mind the liner 😆
I've seen a lot of makeup artists be snobby about cheaper makeup in their makeup challenge videos, but it is so refreshing to see someone making an attempt to be so positive about the makeup, even if it's not the best quality. I like this video a lot compared to others I've seen with dollar makeup.

I am loving the new additions to Dollar Tree! Love the eye shadows I get and more recently face wipes. I got coconut and rose oil face wipes that did not irritate my face and removed my makeup so well.
My dollar tree has some banging la color shadow palettes. There's a nude, rose, smoky. Super cute packaging. I haven't picked one up yet, but they definitely look like they'd cost more than a buck, compared to the other shadow palettes they offer at dollar tree. I love that store.

Wow this was the first video I have seen from this channel and I really enjoyed it! She has a great, outgoing, and funny dialogue which honestly I don't see on alot of make up tutorials especially, dare I say it,from women as gorgeous as you . What I find so funny is back in the 80s (before my time, my mom's makeup) & 90s, but we just used whatever the product gave us as a tool....sponge eye applicator, weird facial sponges. We didn't know any better! No one told us!! We had no idea what we were doing. I honestly didn't learn how to contour my eyes or face until TH-cam...I was in my 30s.
That's because back in the day, people did use the applicators that came with the product. Figuring the manufacturer knew what was needed to put on the product. When did people start to copy what professionals makeup artists use? I have great skin, & don't wear much makeup. Do the brush applicators really make a difference?
1980s Merle Norman foundation (the compact kind) came with a big round sponge, and 90% of the girls (my sister being one) used the same yucky sponge stored in the same dirty case till the makeup was gone, which explained why a lot of them had bad skin toward the bottom of the compact. lol
Incase anyone didn’t know , Tjmaxx has name brand department store makeup for super cheap , ever since I discovered it I’m obsessed , too faced, Clinique, Kat von d, smashbox, etc etc
I actually work at tjmaxx and idk about where you live but my tjmaxx has 4 rows of just makeup related items...atleast 3 to 4 dozen diffrent eyelash brands let alone creams eyeshadows etc! Check them out! Marshalls carries alot of the same products too if you arent near a tjmaxx :)
The Sassy & Chic moisturizing foundation in medium is my go to foundation in the Winter when I'm not tan. I actually use it over my expensive brands!! For $1 you can't beat the quality!!
@@heatherbeans1638 do not use it if you have sensitive skin. Plus it starts "caking" and coming off less than a few hours after you even put it on. Save your dollar.

I have extremely sensitive fair skin and have to literally watch every product I put on but another person with sensitive skin may have very good luck with it. 🤗 My all time fav is good ole covergirl, I've tried them all and always go back to the same ole thing. L.A. Colors and Aziza were everything in the late 70's and 80's. All over the fashion magazines. We used the sponges for literally everything but most of us had an eyebrow/ mascara brush. The "cheapo" makeup of my times was Artmatic. Their powder was the best! If you have talent you can make anything work. Many times I trimmed eyeliner brushes, lashes. I was a make up artist for years and I started at home. That was my "fun". I was making over all my friends. I was the go to girl when going out on the town. Great times.
My mom was a 70/80s baby and had me end of the 80s, so when I was little my mom was still dishing out makeup looks with all the older brands like LA Colors and Artmatic, Azizia, and some Max Factor pancake sets. I learned all my looks/tricks from my mom. It was fun being her kid when I was little. She still had all her cool clothes and earring and kaboodle sets. I was for sure an 80s kid in the 90s thanks to my mom.
Have you ladies noticed all the 'cheap' stuff back in the day is extremely expensive now? For example - Wet n' Wild, Milani, elf, etc. Elf has recently increased in price.
Okay, Dollar Store makeup maybe a little bit sketchy....... But trust me when I say..... Sassy Chic brand nail glue at the Dollar Tree is the bomb!!!! I promise, never again, will you have to buy nail glue for $5 or even $3. Sassy Chic nail glue is the best!!
Our Dollar Tree has a full isle of make up $1 its insane lots of elf lots of primer bronzer concealer just you feel like a kid in a candy store i love it all kinds of elf brushes🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹

But of course there are things that just dnt work so well *FOR ME* or dnt last long enough, *AGAIN; FOR ME* and I've gotta get a more expensive brand, or I see something from a more expensive brand that "I JUST GOTTA TRY/GET!" Ya know! Lol! But overall I usually TRY those two cheaper ones first! And I would say between 90% and 95% of the time I am perfectly happy and satisfied with either ELF or LA Colors products! And my Dollar Tree actually sells a whole lot of makeup products in those two brands too!!
Use eye primer to take off a bad wing. (Always keep one in my make up bag.) It literally will pick the pigment up off the skin without making a bald spot and having to start all over. Make Up Artists call it their eraser it works so good. Moisturizer is the second best option if you don't have an eye make up remover and qtip.
Kelly you are always beautiful but I couldn’t help but kind of laugh at the lashes. They sort of remind me of some of the dolls you used to be able to buy that would have the thick lashes when they would be made to move. 😂 You rock any kind of look! 😘
Sharon Henry ( I saw a video for the lashes that softened them when they took a old mascara brush and actually brushed out the fake lashes it made them look 👀 more natural and prettier

I've used that eye shadow palette for years and years (yeah, I'm old, it was available in the 90's, formula and colors have not changed at all!) also, we love the eyeliner because it doesn't smudge off and lasts a very long time (very nice for my hooded eyes). You should have gotten some of the brushes there, we LOVE those (especially the shadow blender). they are super soft and wet and wild brand. SO worth the $1 each, that we have multiples of them!

You didn’t end up looking that bad actually the makeup looked good on you ..i actually use cheap makeup it’s not like someone will tell the difference as long the makeup it’s well applied.. also love makeup brands such NYX, Wet n Wild and anything that it’s good on my face

Yeah I can't tell the difference either. I have friends that buy cheap makeup like myself and expensive makeup and its all about the application. If I didn't know who spent what I wouldn't be able to tell the difference honestly
The "highlighter" palette she loves with the three colors in it isn't a highlighter palette at all it's an eyeshadow palette which is why it only came with an eyeshadow applicator and not a brush. I have this one and they make about 10 more of them in the trio packs like that with three different colors , varieties of matte and shiny. I just wanted everyone to know because our dollar tree store here separates the makeup by what it is so you won't find this palette in the "highlighter" or powder or blush section, you can only find it in the eyeshadow section. And several of these trio's were gorgeous ! I realize the other palette had 12 shadows in it so it was more for the money but at only a dollar you could get several of each of them and have a variety. Her face,in the end, was gorgeous for only 12 dollars worth of makeup , although i'm sure her incredible skill as a MUA helped with this outcome since I can't even get the expensive brands to look this good !! Lol. Keep up the great work. Excellent video.
@@rachelgarcia2184 some of the ones in the pile at my dollar store said highlighter and some didn't have the writing where highlighter is but they were all exactly the same and they were in with eyeshadow that was in the same container and trio and some of the eyeshadows said eyeshadow and some said highlighter..weird.
Binging Kelly on this fine Saturday night!! I actually like those little for applicators for packing on eyeshadow instead of using my finger. You can just blend it with a brush and you're done!🥰🥰

I buy the 3 pk of black low rise socks for work. I used to buy Hanes her way & in no time have holes in the toe. I can't tell you how many packs of therm I've gone through. And they're not all that cheap. I've yet to have a pair of the DT socks develop holes. Pretty amazing at $.33 a pair!
When I was in college and was broker than broke, I got make up at the dollar tree. I would have to say my favorite thing was the pencil liner. It stayed on for a long time. Now, when I'm trying to not break my bank I got for anything Elf including their brushes. I really love Nyx products as well.

Azia was pretty expensive back twenty years ago when I was close to ur age. You can find LA Colors at Walmart and CVS, Walgreens and Sally’s carry all their products.
"Sponge tip applicator" is the term you were looking for there lol. Back in the 90's when I was in high school that's all we had so I'm very familiar. Dollar Tree is also good for party decorations, holiday decorations, and helium balloons!

I love the LA Colors eyeliner! I literally will go to The Dollar Tree just to buy that eyeliner because it's the only one I've found that doesn't dry out super quick or cost $30 for a tiny little tube! Sometimes the brushes on them are messed up, which is probably how they ended up there in the first place, but I always just buy 5 at a time so when I go to use them if they're messed up, I'll open a new one with a good brush and then just switch the brushes. Still end up using both tubes of liner! And I also use the LA Colors shadows too! Everyone asks me where I buy my makeup or compliment me on it. They never believe me when I tell them it's all from The Dollar Tree or the drugstore. I think it all comes down to how it's applied.
@@gothicmatter9123 no, I've never broken out from it. I've seen the LA Colors brand sold elsewhere for more than $1, they just happen to sell it at The Dollar Tree as well. I don't use the foundation though because they never have the color that I need.

Your tutorial was one of the best REAL tutorials I've seen out here, and I've watched many💁 Your honesty was spot on. Because frankly, I too have used dollar store makeup, & though there are some not so great to be so crazy about, it in fact DOES DO THE JOB!👍. Overall, LOVED your tutorial! Btw if she ever needs a double for her life autobiography MOVIE, you look exactly like a young Kelly Ripa☺ you should apply! lol great look at the end, & loved how you made the wing work on your eye, & the lashes, if you never would've said anything, they looked fire at the finished look! From what I know, dollar tree does get overstock or things that doesn't sell from major outlets, like Target & Walmart, so, if you look some things up, you may find maybaline products & re: the LA Looks, Elf etc, there. You did a great job. It doesn't look bad at all. I think its all about technique when it comes to makeup. Anything can work with some patience and skill. You look pretty. Only thing I would do is mix another color with the lipgloss.

If you studied some basic chemistry and read labels, it wouldn’t matter where you buy or how much you pay for your make up. You can take that dollar store make up, put kardashians name on it and you’d buy it for hundreds of dollars and would not talk it down
Look up the dangers of counterfeit (fake) makeup. It’s not safe to buy knockoffs because they’re made with toxic chemicals & done in unsanitary conditions, just do some research I’m just saying...

I am a momma of 4 kids they always come first so I am guilty of using dollar store makeup I like the eye liner that comes 2 in the package with a sharpener it works amazing! Now that I seen what the contours and highlights do I'm gonna have to get some. They have some purple and green and yellow primers I may try too. Your dollar store make up looks very nice tho especially for 12.00$

Actually, Dollar Tree had a charcoal cleanser and a charcoal face mask that worked wonderfully, long before the name brands discovered their efficacy. The charcoal cleanser disappeared off DT's shelves, about the time name brands got hold of the product and marked it up into the double digits. They still carry the charcoal face mask.
I have both products in my dollar tree, and we dont plan on removing the items from our shelves amytimes soon, weve even added to it with a teeth cleanser and some other thing (can't remember, I do a lot in the store)

I hate when people judge me for buying dollar store makeup. They think I buy it because it's the cheapest. No. I buy it because I like their products and I like how they perform. Some things I get from the drugstore and don't even work like the dollar store things do.
I'd love to know if this feels heavier than normal and/or causes a breakout on sensitive skin. My skin isn't too sensitive but I have broken out over cheaper and thicker products. I also know that cheap makeup burn in the eyes, haha. My mom had a white shadow from the 90s that BURNED. Probably a chemical they try to avoid in more expensive products. Mascaras at the end of their life also burn a bit, probably from expiration and drying out. Did the shadow stay all day on the brows or did it wear off pretty quick? Same with the shadows on the lids, did it stay? How did the lip lacquer feel over time? I am also loving that highlight and now that I've finished the powders in the Chocolate TooFaced pallet I need to find a small replacement. Thanks for the tips!!

I've seen a lot of makeup artists be snobby about cheaper makeup in their makeup challenge videos, but it is so refreshing to see someone making an attempt to be so positive about the makeup, even if it's not the best quality. I like this video a lot compared to others I've seen with dollar makeup.

My dollar tree has some banging la color shadow palettes. There's a nude, rose, smoky. Super cute packaging. I haven't picked one up yet, but they definitely look like they'd cost more than a buck, compared to the other shadow palettes they offer at dollar tree. I love that store.

What I find so funny is back in the 80s (before my time, my mom's makeup) & 90s, but we just used whatever the product gave us as a tool....sponge eye applicator, weird facial sponges. We didn't know any better! No one told us!! We had no idea what we were doing. I honestly didn't learn how to contour my eyes or face until TH-cam...I was in my 30s.

That's because back in the day, people did use the applicators that came with the product. Figuring the manufacturer knew what was needed to put on the product. When did people start to copy what professionals makeup artists use? I have great skin, & don't wear much makeup. Do the brush applicators really make a difference?
And lipstick was blush, just used our fingers. We used our eyeshadow over lipstick to change the color.
1980s Merle Norman foundation (the compact kind) came with a big round sponge, and 90% of the girls (my sister being one) used the same yucky sponge stored in the same dirty case till the makeup was gone, which explained why a lot of them had bad skin toward the bottom of the compact. lol

I actually work at tjmaxx and idk about where you live but my tjmaxx has 4 rows of just makeup related items...atleast 3 to 4 dozen diffrent eyelash brands let alone creams eyeshadows etc! Check them out! Marshalls carries alot of the same products too if you arent near a tjmaxx :)

The Sassy & Chic moisturizing foundation in medium is my go to foundation in the Winter when I'm not tan. I actually use it over my expensive brands!! For $1 you can't beat the quality!!

I love that foundation so much, but I use it in light because I'm deathly pale.

L.A. Colors and Aziza were everything in the late 70's and 80's. All over the fashion magazines. We used the sponges for literally everything but most of us had an eyebrow/ mascara brush. The "cheapo" makeup of my times was Artmatic. Their powder was the best! If you have talent you can make anything work. Many times I trimmed eyeliner brushes, lashes. I was a make up artist for years and I started at home. That was my "fun". I was making over all my friends. I was the go to girl when going out on the town. Great times.

My mom was a 70/80s baby and had me end of the 80s, so when I was little my mom was still dishing out makeup looks with all the older brands like LA Colors and Artmatic, Azizia, and some Max Factor pancake sets. I learned all my looks/tricks from my mom. It was fun being her kid when I was little. She still had all her cool clothes and earring and kaboodle sets. I was for sure an 80s kid in the 90s thanks to my mom.

Like the vast MAJORITY of my makeup is either ELF or LA Colors. But of course there are things that just dnt work so well *FOR ME* or dnt last long enough, *AGAIN; FOR ME* and I've gotta get a more expensive brand, or I see something from a more expensive brand that "I JUST GOTTA TRY/GET!" Ya know! Lol!
But overall I usually TRY those two cheaper ones first! And I would say between 90% and 95% of the time I am perfectly happy and satisfied with either ELF or LA Colors products! And my Dollar Tree actually sells a whole lot of makeup products in those two brands too!!

Use eye primer to take off a bad wing. (Always keep one in my make up bag.) It literally will pick the pigment up off the skin without making a bald spot and having to start all over. Make Up Artists call it their eraser it works so good. Moisturizer is the second best option if you don't have an eye make up remover and qtip.
Kelly you are always beautiful but I couldn’t help but kind of laugh at the lashes. They sort of remind me of some of the dolls you used to be able to buy that would have the thick lashes when they would be made to move. 😂 You rock any kind of look! 😘

I've used that eye shadow palette for years and years (yeah, I'm old, it was available in the 90's, formula and colors have not changed at all!) also, we love the eyeliner because it doesn't smudge off and lasts a very long time (very nice for my hooded eyes). You should have gotten some of the brushes there, we LOVE those (especially the shadow blender). they are super soft and wet and wild brand. SO worth the $1 each, that we have multiples of them!

The "highlighter" palette she loves with the three colors in it isn't a highlighter palette at all it's an eyeshadow palette which is why it only came with an eyeshadow applicator and not a brush. I have this one and they make about 10 more of them in the trio packs like that with three different colors , varieties of matte and shiny. I just wanted everyone to know because our dollar tree store here separates the makeup by what it is so you won't find this palette in the "highlighter" or powder or blush section, you can only find it in the eyeshadow section. And several of these trio's were gorgeous ! I realize the other palette had 12 shadows in it so it was more for the money but at only a dollar you could get several of each of them and have a variety. Her face,in the end, was gorgeous for only 12 dollars worth of makeup , although i'm sure her incredible skill as a MUA helped with this outcome since I can't even get the expensive brands to look this good !! Lol. Keep up the great work. Excellent video.

@@rachelgarcia2184 some of the ones in the pile at my dollar store said highlighter and some didn't have the writing where highlighter is but they were all exactly the same and they were in with eyeshadow that was in the same container and trio and some of the eyeshadows said eyeshadow and some said highlighter..weird.

I buy the 3 pk of black low rise socks for work. I used to buy Hanes her way & in no time have holes in the toe. I can't tell you how many packs of therm I've gone through. And they're not all that cheap.
I've yet to have a pair of the DT socks develop holes. Pretty amazing at $.33 a pair!

When I was in college and was broker than broke, I got make up at the dollar tree. I would have to say my favorite thing was the pencil liner. It stayed on for a long time. Now, when I'm trying to not break my bank I got for anything Elf including their brushes. I really love Nyx products as well.

"Sponge tip applicator" is the term you were looking for there lol. Back in the 90's when I was in high school that's all we had so I'm very familiar. Dollar Tree is also good for party decorations, holiday decorations, and helium balloons!

I love the LA Colors eyeliner! I literally will go to The Dollar Tree just to buy that eyeliner because it's the only one I've found that doesn't dry out super quick or cost $30 for a tiny little tube! Sometimes the brushes on them are messed up, which is probably how they ended up there in the first place, but I always just buy 5 at a time so when I go to use them if they're messed up, I'll open a new one with a good brush and then just switch the brushes. Still end up using both tubes of liner! And I also use the LA Colors shadows too! Everyone asks me where I buy my makeup or compliment me on it. They never believe me when I tell them it's all from The Dollar Tree or the drugstore. I think it all comes down to how it's applied.

@@gothicmatter9123 no, I've never broken out from it. I've seen the LA Colors brand sold elsewhere for more than $1, they just happen to sell it at The Dollar Tree as well. I don't use the foundation though because they never have the color that I need.

After you wash your face use witch hazel on it, it will control the acne and tighten the pores. I have very oily skin and it works wonders.

You did a great job. It doesn't look bad at all. I think its all about technique when it comes to makeup. Anything can work with some patience and skill. You look pretty. Only thing I would do is mix another color with the lipgloss.

If you studied some basic chemistry and read labels, it wouldn’t matter where you buy or how much you pay for your make up. You can take that dollar store make up, put kardashians name on it and you’d buy it for hundreds of dollars and would not talk it down

Now that I seen what the contours and highlights do I'm gonna have to get some. They have some purple and green and yellow primers I may try too. Actually, Dollar Tree had a charcoal cleanser and a charcoal face mask that worked wonderfully, long before the name brands discovered their efficacy. The charcoal cleanser disappeared off DT's shelves, about the time name brands got hold of the product and marked it up into the double digits. They still carry the charcoal face mask.
I have both products in my dollar tree, and we dont plan on removing the items from our shelves amytimes soon, weve even added to it with a teeth cleanser and some other thing (can't remember, I do a lot in the store)

I hate when people judge me for buying dollar store makeup. They think I buy it because it's the cheapest. No. I buy it because I like their products and I like how they perform. Some things I get from the drugstore and don't even work like the dollar store things do.
I'd love to know if this feels heavier than normal and/or causes a breakout on sensitive skin. My skin isn't too sensitive but I have broken out over cheaper and thicker products. I also know that cheap makeup burn in the eyes, haha. My mom had a white shadow from the 90s that BURNED. Probably a chemical they try to avoid in more expensive products. Mascaras at the end of their life also burn a bit, probably from expiration and drying out. Did the shadow stay all day on the brows or did it wear off pretty quick? Same with the shadows on the lids, did it stay? How did the lip lacquer feel over time? I am also loving that highlight and now that I've finished the powders in the Chocolate TooFaced pallet I need to find a small replacement. Thanks for the tips!!
