Hi Julia! I’ve been watching your podcast for a while and to be honest, I love the repetitive nature of your using patterns. It is still exciting to me and really reflects real life. It’s like when there are good store bought items and you buy them in different colors or for different uses, you get your money’s worth. Anyway, thank you again for sharing.
Wow, your blanket is so beautiful.😍🤩And like others I love seeing all the sweaters you keep knitting more than once, it shows how much you love them. The same with your Half & half wrap, gorgeous colours.
We love seeing and hearing from you. Please don’t think you have to be perfect or long, just do it . Have missed you. Thank so much for your time. Enjoy your son they grow so fast!
Thank you for another lovely podcast, always enjoy it. Your blanket is massive and so beautiful 😍. Also your lento sweater is such a beautiful colours love it, it won't take a long time now to finish it. The Ankers sweater is also such a beauty, that colour 😍. Happy knitting, Petra
Love your podcast.. short and to the point. Really appreciate that as a mom to a 3 year old boy :) Also like that you have favourite patterns that you knit over and over. I'm still looking for a favourite sweater.. but I have other favourites too.
Thank you for the enjoyable podcast and for reintroducing yourself. I think I have not watched since your son was just born so that was perfect timing.
so happy to see you again so soon! loved everything you showed - that Blacker yarn color is fab! your blanket is yummy. and mostly, i love the fact that you knit sweaters you love over and over again - keep that up! what a nice tribute to those designers as well. once again, i will say - flashy yarn videos with music and captions i find distracting - i/we like seeing real life, which comes with mistakes! thanks for the company this saturday morning while i finish my Bright Sweater! cheers from libby in utah
Love the scrap blanket. I want to do the same with a cardigan. What do you mean by twisted yarn? Can you show us? Is lentil? a brand of yarn or the name of something? I think that's what you're saying ❤
Thanks! The pattern I'm referring to is "Lento" by Jonna Hietala. I had bought some weaving yarn at some point which is essentially over twisted which is fine for weaving but distorts the fabric of any knitwear you make with it.
Essentially yes, I think I've first encountered the method in one of Jennifer Steingas' patterns and believe Skeindeer has also talked about that in the past?
Please share your solution (if you find one) for your twisted yarn. I have a similar issue. Would knitting the yarn flat (like in a cardigan) counteract the twist?
This is such a clever solution, thanks!! I don't like the idea of having to knit sleeves flat BUT you're making me consider keeping at least some for maybe blankets or shawls? 🥰
Maybe it's a possibility to take 2 cones and ply them together to make a 2-ply, to remove the overtwist of the single plies ? Than the yarn is not wasted, and it goes really quick with a spinning wheel.
Yeah, that's what I thought and briefly tried but I'm finding it really hard to get the balance right if that makes sense? They need to be plied suuuuper losely (as they are not massively unbalanced, just a tiny bit) and it's not really working for me....
@@TheHappyKnittingPodcast high uptake, only 1 treddle / 30-40cm… when finished soaking in water and twacking… and knitting a little swatch to see if the biassing disappears. Maybe try for example 100 m… it s good fitness too 😄
@@TheHappyKnittingPodcast usually yarns for weaving have high twist for being strong, that s why they bias a single ply. Strange that it s only a little overtwisted and biasses so much
One more question since you've made me think... I wonder if it's worth plying and attempting to "turn weaving yarn into knitting yarn" considering the different qualities? Like...even with plying and thwacking etc it would never turn into a lofty, round knitting yarn right? In your experience, would it make more sense to destash to a weaver rather than put in all the work and still possibly end up with a high twist, firm yarn?

Love the color pooling on the first sock.
I love your scrappy blanket. I think it is great that you have found patterns that you love and make over and over again.
It’s always fun to watch you, Julia. I love everything you knit.
It's always a joy to watch your really nice and interesting podcasts. Thank you Julia
How many stitches please it is beautiful please tell me

Oh my, I love the blanket!

Your blanket is fabulous
Your podcasts are just perfect!
Aww thanks Brenda!
I'm wondering if you can untwist, and turn yarn back into wool and just respond it from fluffy fiber. As I'm not a spinner I could be crazy.

Can you take the yarn off the cone and put them in a loose hank or onto a swift to let it relax.
That wouldn't significantly change anything as the twist really needs to be either taken out or counteracted by plying. Thanks for the idea though!

@@TheHappyKnittingPodcast ok. I've never seen weaving yarn.
Question: if you kit the short rows on the Ankers sweater down below the yoke does it still have the same effect as if they are at the neck?

Great podcast Julia, amazing knitting. Are you wearing the Sophie shawl or scarf and what ply yarn is it , looks lovely on 🧶
Thanks! It's a similar self drafted pattern using regia alpaca sock - I've talked about it in the previous 1-2 podcasts
@@TheHappyKnittingPodcast Many thanks Julia I’ll go back and watch those podcasts again 🧶

If you ever end up with biased yarn again, use a pattern with an equal number of knits and purls.
