El Greco. When I paint portraits, I so often think of his style, Such a great Master!
13:37 - as I remember (I was there at 2007), and looking at their reproductions on the internet, it seems that his two paintings at the MASP museum have a darker ground, more like burnt umber.
Very interesting presentation, thank You Master!
Excelente como siempre ð

Preciosidad tambiÃĐn este video, Maestro Borrero. Gracias por compartir. Fuera excusas... fuera cansancio... manhana regreso a mi cuadro. Saludos.
I missed the live stream, again thank you, one question, about the red ground... what is the color value of the graound? is it mid value like value 5? thanks
Thankyou Luis, I found this very interesting having had a lifelong fascination with El Greco. A friend saw his âView of Toledoâ in the flesh and said the impasto was inches thick, an exaggeration Iâm sure, but I wonder if you have noticed much impasto within his work?
You make a very nice observation, that I too have noticed, regarding the "grand maniera" and the trend among younger artists towards 19th century French atelier procedure. It may have a connection to the development of the lens and its use it art,as well as the emphasis on plane, line, shape and observation of value.
Thanks a lot! In the future, it is interesting to see your material about Tintoretto, an analysis of his technique.
