    This mixed media DIY project is part of a miniature wildflower series, episode 15 making 1:12, 1:24, 1:48 & 1:144 scale Phalaenopsis orchids with copy paper, floral wire, thread & artificial snow.
    The orchids height measure approximately - 1 1/4” for 1:12; 3/4” for 1:24; 1/4” for 1:48; 1/8” for 1:144.
    Each plant took a hour or so to make. Adult supervision for younger persons is needed.
    Inspiration ideas from Phalaenopsis orchids with aerial roots available from greenhouses, floral departments & home stores. These orchids grow on tree bark in the wild.
    Material List:
    1. copy paper - white copy paper painted green for leaves or floral tape
    2. artificial snow - miniature size without glitter, mix with white paint for 1:48 & 1:144 scale flowers
    3. beads - for vase base - purchased miniature pieces or small plastic caps or beads
    4. floral tape - green for larger scale leaves
    5. floral wire - for 1:12, 1:24 & 1:48 scale spike stems (can add small stems to spikes for larger scales or add buds with dabs of dried glue painted in flower color)
    6. thread - for 1:144 scale stem & support piece; leaf veins; support ties - green, tan, brown
    7. broom straw - for ‘bamboo’ support piece
    8. Spanish moss - craft dried for roots or embroidery floss
    9. template for oval or eclipse shape for leaves or draw by hand 1/8”, 1/4”, 5/16” & 5/8”
    10. acrylic paints - white, green, gray
    11. dried used tea bits for a tree bark or mulch look
    12. glue - PVA clear drying
    13. sealer - matte for plants
    14. toothpicks
    15. scissors & wire cutter
    16. tweezers
    17. clamps
    18. quilter pins
    19. ruler
    20. stylus & foam piece
    21. craft knife & cutting mat
    22. punches - ( total) : medium snowflake 5/8”; small snowflake 5/16”, medium flower 1/4”; small star or flower 1/8”; oval/ellipse shape leaves: 1/8”, 1/4”, 5/16” & 5/8”
    23. paintbrushes
    24. paper towel
    25. containers - like plastic lids to hold paint & glue & mix
    26. markers - permanent: light yellow & light orange, light purple
    27. color pencils - light yellow & light orange, brown, fuchsia
    28. tape - easy removal to hold items while painting, gluing or cutting
