    Thanks Doc for all the great info videos! PLEASE consider making one on inner primary/mainshaft bearings on the trap door/right side/ 5 speed transmissions such as the 1997 xlh1200. Only makes noise in neutral issue. Thanks again for keeping us informed!

    Sheet. Never knew such a book existed. I have the service manual for my rig. When I'm checking critical torque values on my rig per the service manual recommendations, I set my torque wrench to the lowest recommended value. If the wrench clicks right away, I know I'm good.

      Make your Service Manual “the Bible” and you’ll see how easy it is to navigate through. I read and walk with mine everywhere in the house. It takes time to get familiar with it, it is a really big book. Good luck and ride safe, my friend 👊🏻 Cheers from 🇬🇧

    Firmly seated based on bolt size. The only time I’m religious with torque is motor work or sensitive components! Let’s just say if your not sure look it up, piece of mind goes a long way on two wheels

    I bought a Sportster Service manual and it's missing so much information, it really isn't of very much help. It's not like I can just find all the necessary information I need so I can work on it, though it does help a bit. There is so much missing though. I was just looking for the torque value of the rotor bolt. Giving it a new ignition.
    I just bought a used Sportster, and man what a trouble shooting journey it's been already. Been at it for about a month now, but I think I'm near the end. Tomorrow should be a new day.
    It started out with intake manifold leaks, and new gaskets didn't solve the problem. With new gaskets in, the manifold moved very freely side to side and up and down, so loosely I knew it wasn't sealing, verified by a few lbs. of air into the intake manifold while spraying soapy water. Leaks all over. Finally fixed that with two light coats of Flex Seal and an artist's paint brush. It's not pretty but it works. I put a vacuum cleaner hose into the intake while I painted.
    Then I had a bad VOES. Ran great when it ran great but then it was still acting up, but then it started blowing ignition fuses. I blew 5 fuses in 5 miles and then began seriously looking for a short. By the grace of God, with his help, I saw near the connection under the bike, the one to the ignition, a tiny bit of bare spot on a wire, right next to the connector, and covered that up with a rubber product I had. No more blowing fuses, but it still ran like garbage most of the time, although it would run perfect sometimes. This was after re-jetting. #48, #185, '88 Sportster needle. Perfect, but it still ran like garbage at times and even most of the time, so I decided on getting an Ultima ignition. Deleted VOES because I understand I don't need it with the Ultima ignition, even though you can still keep it if you want. Tomorrow, I plan on installing the Ultima, and that should be it.

      That is a great adventure with highs and lows. I disagree about a Factory Service Manual not being helpful. And then there is your use of Flex seal😳….Doc

    Hi Doc, I am a new subscriber. I ride a 2017 FLHTK. The motor was rebuilt under warranty at 24000 miles due to excess oil consumption and the issue still exists 5000 miles later. There are no mods to the factory engine and there are no leaks, no sign of smoke and the motor is far too energetic for there to be any sumping going on.
    I've read Service Bulletin TT0461 and find that 1 qt every 1500 miles to be really excessive.
    Could you please address this and offer ideas to mitigate the problem.

    So, 2015 was the first year of the trike?

    • @duke9173
      @duke9173 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Technically yes. In 08 Harley entered into an agreement with Lehman trikes. In 12 the owner passed and the parts were sent to York to be assembled. In 15 H-D released the Tri-glide and began in house building of the models that followed. So really they were conversions, either built in SD or PA, until 15 when it became a factory bike.
