I just bought a 19 2LT RS 2.0 Turbo I4 in crush orange. As a condition of of sale I made the lot put on a new set of TOYO OBSERVE G3-ICE and I'm in Sudbury Ontario so winter is always fun here. I will never take it out on a bad 2 foot of snow day but on hard packed snow in snow and ice mode I've had no issues nor do I expect any. So far so good!
Great content! It is very useful! That shows folks that can't afford to put their car away due to snow their are options (besides Suburus). I once got caught in snow while I was at work, in my 2001 Camaro SS w/6spd. I had taken the 18's with summer high perf tires off when I moved from CA to VA and put the factory 17's and BFG G-Force Comp 2 A/S, and the thing did fine in 6-8" of snowfall. I remember starting in 2nd gear from stoplights but with moderate inputs, it had no issues at all. Keep up the good work! I just subscribed.
First off thanks very much for watching and subscribing!! Yes these cars can do just fine and I'm one of those guys that can't afford to put my car away for the winter. I had a 2002 Camaro SS that saw its share of winter driving and it was manageable for sure but the 2018 is 100 times better. Have a great day!!
I daily drove my full bolt on 1998 Z28 LS1 6 speed for 3 calgary winters. Factory traction control and auburn limited slip diff. With studded winters on the factory 16x8s it did incredibly well. Joys of younger years living in an apartment. Had a clear bra put on the front end and ran rubber floor mats. Had zero issues and it was surprisingly capable even driving it like an idiot
Cool to hear! A proper tire and an idea of car physics in snow can go along way. I’ve daily driven Camaros in the snow for years.. my 1994 and 1995z28s
Thanks very much for liking this video and subscribing! I’m glad it provided you some useful information!!! Yes the snow and ice mode really makes the 1LE an all weather car.
I have a 2021 1LT V6, 10 speed auto. ( just love this set of wheels !! ) my Camaro came equipped with 20" run flat all season tires. First of all I completely disregard the " all season " that in itself is just a name and it's totally misleading. I'm well aware from past experiences that rear wheel drive vehicles not operate good in snow, I certainly was aware of that when we decided to buy a Camaro. First of all I placed six 50lb. sandbags over the rear wheels I then had a set of four Falken winter tires installed. I kept the traction control on and used the snow / ice driving mode. The car performed better than I expected as a matter of fact it performed great.
Hi There, Thanks very much for your suggestion. I agree that a true snow tire would be best but these Firestone Weathergrip tires are an "all weather" , have the 3 peak snow flake symbol, and perform much better than an all season. Yes its a lot of fun driving a Camaro in the snow!!
I have a 2017 1SS? So the standard Camaro 18 inch wheel would work as a good spare tire? Full clearance for the larger brake calibers? Thanks for video.
Yes the standard 18 inch wheel will easily clear all Camaro SS and SS 1LE calipers. I did zero caliper grinding on my car to make them fit. Thanks for watching!!
That was no test I didn't see any hills. Used my old 69 Camaro in early 80s year round with polyglass rear snow tires in PA winters and up hills, sometimes had to get a running head start though.
@The 604 Garage back in the day muscle cars were used year round in the Northeast all conditions. Grandpa even had a hitch to pull a boat and camper on his muscle car. Everyone had M& S rear tires to switch out. This is pre radial tires.
Yeas times have changed. Now we have snow and ice mode which is a major advantage. I’ve daily driven Camaros for years and used to get around with just fine without special aids as well. The intent of the videos to show how the snow and ice mode works and not to see the limits of what that car can get through or how much snow it can handle.
This car should be in a garage for the winter. Poor girl! I hope you are not one of those people use their garage as a storage unit instead of parking the cars. She is freezing to death, if you are not going to take care of her, you can pass her to me 😄

They do really well in hard pack with the right tires in S/I mode. Congrats on the new purchase.
2019 SS 1LE here. Slapped some winter tires on her and she's doing just fine in the snow. Surprisingly easy to control actually. Good work GM.
I did the same thing and drove mine for two winters. GM did great!

I have an 18 1le and this video gave me something to look forward to in the upcoming months, great video!

Im actually very impressed it made it down the street let alone around the block. Deeper snow though, I think that car will be in trouble.
Yes it did really good but I agree deeper snow will be a challenge.

Buddy I recommend snow tires not all season, the rubber compound is different giving you way better grip. Supper fun driving a Camaro in the snow!

Would I be crazy trading my civic in for a v6 camero as an only daily driver?
I don't think so. If it has snow/ice mode and a winter set of tires and you don't live in a remote area you should be fine 99% of the time.
@yougotservedyo Well it's happening. Just got the word it's starting production and will be delivered in a month:)
So standard 18 by 8.5 Camaro wheel has clearance and would also be good spare for a 17 SS Camaro?
Yes they will fit as they fit my 1le with 6 piston Brembos
Day-am! I don't know if my 2015 convertible has snow/ice mode. Have to check it out. Thanks
Thanks for watching and commenting!! If your 2015 has it then you should try it out carefully.
@@The_604_Garage WHOA!! Man, I NEVER would have even thought of that! Wow.
I just have one question when did Camaros have snow mode like which year did it come out
I believe it came out in 2016 in the 6th gen

Sounds like your 69 was quite the snow machine.

Are you in Canada ?
Yes

I feel the same way. I hate to see her outside in all this cold weather but my garage is full of my 1981 Z28.
Skip to 3:00 to get to the point of this vid. great vid!
Thank you very much!!
