      How did you go? So easy to cut yourself. For those who don't know there are right hand and left hand snips for cutting to the left or right. Also some snips have a kind of toothed edge. This makes it grip the material a little so it doesn't slip and you don't have to push so hard.

    20mm Vortex 12-14g metal screws with seals make job much smoother and quicker even for the top

    This is by far the best and most simple way to install wind turbine vents on a metal roof! Only thing you left out how you had to also cut the wood below the tin.

      @@llg7456 our houses over here are built differently. we do not line the roof with wood ply. If you do then you would have to cut the hole through the wood

      It performs perfectly. for the stats you will have to look at the spec from the supplier.

    I like the item/product, my question is.... If it rains with wind, the rain water will get thru and it will water the inside house, ?????

    What if there is not much wind. Does this help in expelling hot air inside the house

      Yes but it is more effective with a little wind as the fan works. Hot air will rise up and through the vent even if there is no wind.

    Hi. the plastic supports inside the turbine itself. how long will it last? before it goes brittle?

    Is it necessary to install ceiling vents along with this for the hot air to be extracted from our rooms? This is our first time installing it on our roof.

      no this is designed to ventilate the space between the ceiling and the roof. So the roof cavity.

    It's Good but you don't mention the situation if it rains with wind. How about the rain water going thru the sphere ventilator

      It doesn't go through. The spinning motion keeps the water out

    Thanks for this. I have a single pitch roof ... so no apex flashing for the base plate to fit under ... if you have experience of this I would appreciate suggestions?

      You will simply have to silicone the back of the flue so water runs over the top.

      @@dennisperrie thanks. I ended up cutting the roof the width of the base plate then "posted" the base plate through the cut. Sealed it with fibre matting. Looks OK but will know after the first rains. Many thanks.

      Because by putting it under the ridge you don't need to use silicone. if it was further down the roof you would have to. i have another video on how to install a whirlybird that has the use of silicone.

      Cenyrifical force and the design means they dont leak. As the wind blows the turbine the internal fan extracts the air from the roof. In heat the air is expelled by covection so keep it high on your roof.

      Because they are under the ridge they didnt need silicone.

      @@byrny111 If you look where the hole is placed you have two corrugations before the water get near it. also, the sides are tapped down reducing the wind ingress. If it really bothers you, you can put silicone on top of the corrugation before you put the flange on but i have never had a problem with any leaking from the side.

      Use wiss snips or stanley. But any will do. Reds to cut with th right hand. Green to cut with the left hand.

    Hi i bought 2 whirlybird but doesnt com with adjustable level adjuster.. how do i install this on a 30deg slop roof

      Some times they come in two pieces instead of three but all should have an adjustable piece for the pitch. if not maybe check with the manufacturer how to get the pitch

      @@dennisperrie that's the problem.. the seller manufacturer confirmed that the one i bought isnt adjustable.. they suggested to trim the base according to my roof slope. I was hoping to install a circular plainsheet but i do not.know how to cut in straight 😅

    Is this whirlybird 100% waterproof? Is water come from the vents ? What your experience say ?

      Yes they are water proof. I have yet to be called back to one for a leak. On a storm they spin faster aswell increasing the difficulty for water to get in. So yes would be my answer

      @@mayken6661 ---I have seen them covered on houses in the US in winter, but one still needs to vent any attic condensation, no matter the time of year. (I had a plywood roof delaminate because of inadequate venting).

    Does this make the shop colder during winter?

      If it is in a factory unit, it will expell the hot air. If there is a ceiling that has insulation on it and the air is removed from between the ceiling and the roof then no it will not. So if your shop has no ceiling, yes it will.

    I would use a Saber-saw to cut the hole in the metal. It would be easier, safer, faster, and more precise.

      You wouldn't want any metal shavings from a saw or grinder on the roof, it causes rust

      @@Dave-co1cv Not to the whole sheet below the cut and in the gutters though, I'm just saying that as a fully qualified carpenter - if I hear apprentices or labourers using a grinder or sabresaw on a new roof, they get a stern warning.
      But, you do whatever you want to your roof when installing. Just looking out for you if you maybe hadn't experienced it before.

      @@timothyjohnson3176 So why not simply blow the shavings away once the cut is complete? This should be done regardless of a potential rust issue. If you want a good, clean, accurate cut a metal roof....use a Saber saw.

      @@Dave-co1cv Blow the metal shavings where, into the gutter? To another part of the roof? When you use a saw or grinder, the swarf heats up enough to stick itself to the colourbond coating, and even if it isn't coated you can't see all of the miniscule pieces of metal you've left.
      Simple and quick isnt always the best solution.
      Also why would you use a recipro saw when there's the potential for say cutting into live wires in the roof.
      You keep fighting this good fight, I'm going to just take the win knowing I'd get more repeat clients.

    Jeez you went to town on that tin roof why not just drill a hole to start the cut? Then you left the tin exposed to rust after hammering the hell out of it.

      Using the hammer removes any need to clear off the swarf. The bit i hit with the hammer was cut out with the snips which is how it should be done. You can also start your hole with drilling aswell if you are not confident with a hammer.

      @@dennisperrie ---I thought of pounding on a short length of pipe to form the flashing to match the corrugation of the roof. What about a bead silicon caulk under the flashing, and on the exposed screw heads?
