I was gonna touch on the latex and silicone not mixing in my third degree video. I knew about petroleum and latex too but I didn't realize that a lot of foundations had it in them. Very interesting to know! Thanks Amy : )
I'm only 14 I've done a few things but I'm going to start collecting things now only small things a be work my way up so when I'm old enough to actually do something with it I'll be ready and it won't be as expensive and hard 😊
Im 13 and Ive been doing this for about 2 years now and Im getting really good at it with only having cheap fake blood, four eye shadows and glue and now my parents said that they are finally going to get me some makeup and Im so happy. Im going to collage for this because I love it so much. I love to do the zombie effect and I love to put big huge cuts on my face and scare people. last thing I did was a big cut on my mouth and used a needle and thread to sew it up. that was my best work. thx for inspiring me
Thats literally what i do! I have no real liquid latex or anything like that. I use glue for latex, i make my own scar was and fake blood. But i do have some eyeshadows and an eyeliner pencil for it
Me too, I just started and I have been using school glue instead of latex. I just spent about $60 on supplies and am currently waiting for it to arrive
Great video and wonderful products and just wanted to thank you from a teacher who is doing an after school make-up program for junior high kids this will really help them so thanks again!!!
Hey! When I use wax for injuries (which I LOVE) I use olive oil or mineral oil on my fingers while I am sculpting. It allows me to work with the wax freely without it sticking to me. I'll also use Collodian or another sealer as a fixitive over the wax. Fusting with baby powder or setting powder at the end helps with color application. :)
I've been into FX for a while now and I'm pretty proud of my collection of products. I have liquid latex, Ben Nye Nose and Scar Wax, Ben Nye spirit gum and remover, Ben Nye Gel Wound Kit(got it about a week ago, haven't used it yet), and my Skin Illustrator onset fx palette just got here. I'm still waiting for the alcohol
Angie you rock!!! I am stoked you made this video, I am learning how to do sfx makeup and was wondering what products I needed besides glycerin and gelatin concoctions. This video is just what I needed!! Thanks a bunch!!!!!
I'm starting college soon and I chose Theatre hair and makeup FX. You get to do all the sort of stuff GoldieStarling does and I'm so excited to start! Thanks to this channel, I know quite a lot already, which was one of the main reasons they were so keen to invite me. :D
Angie, first things first that's a great song. Yay rolling stones! But most importantly, when I watch your videos I find myself wondering if you know how good you are. You're makeup skills are amazing! You sing just as good! And you come off as very down to earth and a super likeable person. YOU. GO. GIRL! 3
so excited have had the wolfe FX palette for a while and liquid latex...lots of fun to play with!! Just ordered Ben Nye Death wheel...this video made me take the plunge. :)
Great video as always! Rigid Collodion -- first-hand experience. Two weekends in a row -- 6 days total -- did zombie makeup with scarring on my face -- up to 7 layers depending where on my face I did it. After the final night I had actual indentations left in my skin for several days -- totally freaked out of course. They're pretty much better except I have a permanent scar on my nose :/ Live and learn
This is really helpful. I just got accepted into a Wig and Makeup Design program and have to start building up my kit. I will definitely go check out some of these products.
I usually use Mineral Oil instead of Castor Oil but only cause I can get it in larger bottles and it lasts for a long time that way. And along with one stiff palette I make up a bunch of toss ones by just cutting up wax paper and keeping them in my kit. Beats having to clean off my palette all the time. Also keep a glue stick in my kit since I am allergic to latex and I can use it in place of it most times.
Im not a lot into the whole makeup stuff, but I do respect what you do is very tedious and very creative... I am looking more into this ( maybe for next haloween ) and this video was a great insight to makeup and different items, makeup and ingredients to use to make the effect more prominent. Thanks for taking the time to make this video.... You've got yourself a happy subscriber :)
i love scar wax, a lot of youtubers that do sfx say that hate it or dont like it, but its the only thing i work with because its easy to apply, easy to get off, and its fun to sculpt it.
A trick I learned for the Ben Nye's Scaring wax is to use petroleum Jelly. It helps it to now stick to your fingers and to smooth out the edges.. Thanks for sharing your tips and kit supplies. I love Sp FX makeup, plan to get more soon.. :)
Angie you need to check out the Skin Illustrator palettes they are amazing espicaly if you like the reel creation one you have my favorite one for character looks is the necromania one and I like the alchemy one which is all matelic colors which can be used in beauty make up as well as special effects
Hey, Angie!! Im a 12 year old makeup artist in training ;) and I just wanted to let you know how useful I have found your videos! Some of the products you listed in the video i will definatly look into and some of the products that you mentioned I already have and LOVE like the Ben Nye wheels and colorless set powder. Just wanted to let ya know!!
I absolutely adore you! I love your work, it's so amazing. Would you be able to make a video on how you did you eyeshadow here? It's perfection. I've looked all over this site for an eye look like that and I'd love to know how you got it. Your channel is awesome!
I have come across several of your videos while looking for Halloween ideas, so I wanted to take a moment and let you know I admire your work. Thank you for the effort you put into making videos for us, and thank you for sharing your knowledge and talent with us.
This video did me great justice for halloween! I have all the skin stuff, latex etc.. just have to get in the blood and stuff now! Ps, you're makeup looks amazing in this video!
I started out with school glue and tissue paper but with all of your amazing tutorials I am getting a lot better, thank you so much for your videos you are very talented!!
You just get better each video,,,, thank you so much for sharing your knowledge in special-effects make up Love your channel love your videos keep them coming truly artistic
Great information! Just a note about being careful to not mix certain things. For example, latex and silicon DO NOT mix. If you have latex down, don't try to put something like 3rd degree on top of it....it won't set, or it will take forever to set. Also, you can't put anything with petroleum in it on top of latex. Petroleum degrades latex, and since most foundations contain petrolatum, you can't put them on top of latex or a latex bald cap. It will just start to disintegrate. Good video!
Thank you so much for this video! I appreciate this & you very much. I am a freelance MUA & I was wanting to branch out more into theatrical makeup/ SFX because it's just awesome & I want to do more of that work. Now I have an idea of what I need for a basic kit (which before now I was like oh snap Ben Nye, Mehron, Kryolan, SO many SFX makeup I want to get but I didn't know which to have first) So thank you thank you thank you! :)♥
Yay for "wound-y" tutorials! Inspiring Special Fx Makeup Artist here! Really want to go to school for it but I'm a HS drop out and I've tried to look up most of all the schools in my area (Los Angeles) and I just don't meet the requirements :( wahh
Thank you for this, This is so helpful, I'm looking to start up my SFX kit along with my beauty kit. You suggested most of the products that I've been looking at.
Thanks a lot - great suggestions, especially because I am thinking about getting into special effects but I had no idea where to start. Can you do a video on your favourite products (like your favourite black, blue, ... eye shadow, and so on)? That would be awesome!
The red and brown colors in my Monster Wolfe pallette in my opinion seem a bit maroonish, that could be a good thing or a bad thing, depending on what your doing with it. I like this pallette because you can use it for bruising, blood, skin discoloration, and the colors are great, even if you just wanna use it for a goth makeup look or even some tribal designs.
Oops, I totally missed your reply. You're welcome! I'm so glad you're doing a 3rd degree video! I haven't seen any videos on it yet and I LOVE that stuff. I use it for everything. It's my Windex. Lol :)
Thanks for making this video! I just started FX Make Up and I'm working on a kit right now :) I wrote everything down and I might get some stuff for my bday :D
This is really helpful, I am wanting to start doing a bit of spx makeup for fun and the other day I bought a small bottle of liquid latex and a little bit of fake blood and it is really fun (I used red lipstick instead of paint) although I spilt the latex all over my desk :/ at least it was easy to clean up I just waited for it to dry and it peeled off :)
I'm so glad that you made this video because I've recently been hired to do a lot of fx stuff and I'm having a hard time remembering what I used in college (I was a costume/ makeup design major). shopping list has been made ;)
okay I am helping some friends for Halloween and they are helping with the cost. I will be using latex and making gelatine pieces and was wondering which paint set you recommend mostly if I choose to only get one. And what sealer would you recommend to seal the gelatin? your vids are great. thanks
To all of you young people watching this video: Don't be discouraged by not being able to afford a bunch of fancy products. Buy what you can afford, and try to come up with affordable substitutes for the things you can't afford. Practice as much as you possibly can. Follow tutorials, try new techniques, be adventurous. I started out when I was 12, and I felt like I would never be able to do fx makeup because I had no job and no way to afford a full kit. I'm now in college studying film and tv makeup, and I'm working on the sets of photoshoots and short films. You'll get there as long as you put your mind to it.
Question: In regards to setting powder and final seal, do you use only one or the other for any given look or do you apply powder AND final seal at all? Otherwise what kind of makeup is it best to use powder for and what kinds should be spray sealed?
Literally a babe! To share your knowledge and you fake blood recipe. When people are so secretive. People like you deserve all the success and you will get there no doubt with a positive attitude. If you reading this and haven't subscribed, you need to! A real TH-cam gem find

Hi there! I love your videos. I am a freelance MUA and wanted to branch out to doing FX! Ur videos r very informative.I wanted to know did u buy the clear kit for the 3rd degree? Thanx luv
Ah I love your videos very very helpful I REALLY wish I came accross your vids during October so I could've done before Halloween CURSES! BUT I'm still gonna try out the alcohol activated paints and 3rd degree :D thank you for the help x3
I'm thirteen to and I love to do special effects make up! ! ! ! ! and I love to do horror movie based looks, especially Regan from the Exorsist. love that look ! XD
Great video, I think I'm definitely going to start working on buying these products. Also, I have a question: they have some Special FX makeup items at Party City and I was wondering if you've ever used any of their products and if so would you recommend them? Anddd random comment lol your hair is absolutely gorgeous, I think I might have to show this video to my hairdresser and be like I want my hair to be this colour lol
What could you use if you want to maybe apply prosthetics like nails, needles, paste something weird to your skin and it actually stays there when you are moving around?
the orange sponge is for the liquid latex, it works perfect and it doesn´t get damaged so you can use it over and over again!! great kit!!
I was gonna touch on the latex and silicone not mixing in my third degree video. I knew about petroleum and latex too but I didn't realize that a lot of foundations had it in them. Very interesting to know! Thanks Amy : )
I tend to do both. I always powder creamy products and add Final Seal to set everything.
@weesunflower14 It peels right off. I do use olive oil sometimes to help break it up.
I'm only 14 I've done a few things but I'm going to start collecting things now only small things a be work my way up so when I'm old enough to actually do something with it I'll be ready and it won't be as expensive and hard 😊
This is litterally me. Lol
Omg same age and ideas I've only now decided to actually buy Sfx makeup 😊

Great video and wonderful products and just wanted to thank you from a teacher who is doing an after school make-up program for junior high kids this will really help them so thanks again!!!
Nina is definitely one of my tops. I really LOVE so many of them though, Alaska, Sharon, Willam, Latrice, RAVEN and Manila are among my favorites.

I bought both of those Wolfe palettes on your recommendation, Angie! I used them this weekend for sfx makeup for our local Convention and I LOVE them!

I use chocolate syrup mixed with red food coloring when I need to make fake blood. Easy and tasty! (And I find it looks more realistic)

Your hair and make up (love the lip color) in this video is wonderful...as usual! Love your Videos!
Thanks!!!
That's a great kit :) latex really is crazy versatile! I need the scarring liquid
Thanks a lot - great suggestions, especially because I am thinking about getting into special effects but I had no idea where to start.
Can you do a video on your favourite products (like your favourite black, blue, ... eye shadow, and so on)? That would be awesome!
For small cuts i use clear eyelash glue for the skin around the wound that is cut... :) and for the huge wounds, i use liquid latex.
Thank you for this information!! Love your hair color and your makeup is perfect!!!
Loved this video. Couldn't help being distracted by your eyes though.. they look amazing! Do you have a tutorial on how to do this eye makeup?
you can use vaseline (petroleum jelly) to help blend out scar wax easily!
The red and brown colors in my Monster Wolfe pallette in my opinion seem a bit maroonish, that could be a good thing or a bad thing, depending on what your doing with it. Hey Angie!
Super helpful video thank you for making it!
How does the Reel color Palette compare to other alcohol palettes such as FX skin illustrator?
This was really helpful. You look gorgeous. I don't know if it's me,but the lighting and colouring in this video look spectacular.
Love ur makeup !!!! Eye makeup 😍😍😍
Awesome video. I really hope you plan on doing a special effects look with the third degree product . If not can you please? Thanks
I'm so glad that you made this video because I've recently been hired to do a lot of fx stuff and I'm having a hard time remembering what I used in college (I was a costume/ makeup design major). shopping list has been made ;)
Added to favorites! This is amazing info...
I love ur special FX videos!!! Great job!

To all of you young people watching this video:
Don't be discouraged by not being able to afford a bunch of fancy products. Buy what you can afford, and try to come up with affordable substitutes for the things you can't afford. tysvm for sharing all of this. I know as you said a lot are secretive about their techniques and products, so this means a lot.
you are such an amazing make up artist.
u r really good at it and u inspire me to keep doing this
Literally a babe! To share your knowledge and you fake blood recipe. When people are so secretive. People like you deserve all the success and you will get there no doubt with a positive attitude. If you reading this and haven't subscribed, you need to! A real TH-cam gem find
What hair dye do you use? I love it!
I am a beginner with Special FX makeup, (I want to go to school in the future for it), but want to practice a lot at home or however I can first to get experience and feel more comfortable. I'm curious where I get a basic at-home Special FX kit to play around with ? (I'm in Toronto). I figure if it's too expensive or I can't find one, I can just start with 'basic' basics from costume stores - adhesive/glues, latex, fake blood, other stuff. I also love to face paint a lot, so can combine! Thanks
I loooove 3rd degree! Thanks for mentioning a website to source it from :)

What is the whole schooling process for special fx makeup?

Really depends what your going for
You don't actually need schooling for fx makeup
