How interesting that this video is almost 2 years ago...today is August 21, 2020...I have only become intrigued with Raggedy Ann and Andy in the past few weeks. I heard someone read one of the chapters of the Marcella book on You Tube and that got my attention.
I went to a Value Village thrift store and found a large group of the dolls. I bought one from the 70"s (Knickerbocker) and then at another thrift store, one from the 1991 (Applause). After doing some research (which I love) I went back to the first store and bought 3 more, 1987 and a set from 2000, but then I gave them to a friend so now I obviously need to research and buy more...
Thanks for sharing, I am looking for the books also. Love your videos!!

This is a pretty encouraging video I found a Ann and Andy at an estate sale they're absolutely Immaculate with stitched on shoes no candy heart but it is stitched on the both of them pretty neat I'm going to be trying to find what they're worth exactly cuz I have this feeling they are worth a good chunk of change!

I love Raggedy Ann and Andy! I’ve hand made dozens of them and embroidered their faces and the little “ I love you” hearts ♥️ I’ve also collected vintage Raggedy Ann books and even an old colouring book 💗💗🇨🇦

I have a red hair raggedy ann and Andy I've had since I was a little girl. I am now 56 years old. My momma told me both dolls were with me at all times when I was a little girl. I wouldn't give up the dolls so she could hand wash them with damp rag. I would cry and cry until she gave them back to me. I will pass them on to my only daughter before I die. I always wondered if they were worth anything. I would have gotten them in the years between 1964-1969/1970. Raggedy ann has red hair and a white apron over her dress and black feet almost like boots. Raggedy Andy has blue knickers. Still love these dolls. 😊

I believe Raggedy Ann & Andy are brother & sister. The movie ‘Raggedy Ann & Andy: A Musical Adventure’ refer to each other as such and the marketing for most rereleased dolls refers to them as siblings?

      @vintagedollhunters  6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

Julius Maloney Yes you are correct as George mention that Andy is her brother. We are so happy you tuned in to watch and please return for more knowledge and opinions. 😁😀

I have the Playskool 1990 and 1996 childhood Raggedy Anns. A few friends have gifted me some new ones along the way which is very sweet of them. My parents and brother have started "collecting" them, too.

your crazy enthusiastic introduction of raggedy Ann made me laugh so hard. "the one and only-the red head, ginger haired wonderful (pause pause) doll-RAGGEDY ANN!" amazing. and life is just so crazy. I grew up in the 1970's-and raggedy Ann and Andy were EVERYWHERE. you couldn't turn around without one of those red triangle noses being right on you. whether you wanted them to be there or not, there they were! and yet today-today it seems raggedy Ann and raggedy Andy are but a distant memory. they are but ghosts who haunt attics, old thrift stores, and sad basements of yore. raggedy Ann and raggedy Andy were A-list when I was a child. books. games. television appearances. a feature film for gods sake! A LIST!! but you can't stop the march of time. it goes forward whether we want it to or not! just ask those adorable moppets. they can tell you!
I saw the RAGGEDY ANN AND ANDY movie IN THE THEATRE in the 4th grade! the cineplex at Washington square mall in Indianapolis Indiana. no joke. a mid-week matinee during spring break. I was staying with my grandmother, my parents were on a trip somewhere. we went to McDonalds for lunch and then to the RAGGEDY ANN AND ANDY movie. it was quite a day. excitement. good food. good movie. good times. well-those good times have changed for all of us, huh? for raggedy ann? for raggedy Andy? for the dead marcella? for Johnny Gruelle? even for the grimace and the hamburgler. time marches on. time marches on. it has for me certainly.
time marches forward. so enjoy the good times as they happen. you never know where life will take you. one day you're raggedy. you are just your raggedy self. and people seem to like it. they like the raggedy-ness of you. so the next thing you know-furs and jewels and lucrative licensing agreements with the hallmark corporation. taffy pulls, birthday parties, the Macy's day parade, they are stamping hearts all over your body that say-i love you-they love you! then the real dream-they are making a broadway musical all about you. a broadway musical bearing your very name-the raggedy ann and Andy musical! on broadway-BROADWAY! but you blink one of those black button eyes-and they've posted the closing notice the same week you've opened, and nobody will take your phone calls. time. time keeps marching forward. it waits for no one. time. whether you are raggedy or dripping diamonds, time waits for no one. just ask Marcella.
thanks for posting! you have really brought me down memory lane today. wow.

@@vintagedollhunters well your comment back to me made my day! so there! thank you. I love your channel and your sense of fun and wackiness. you are out to have a good time and laughs-and ain't that what life's all about. I also watched that one video where you are looking at different crissy dolls and velvet dolls. and you bring out that scary cinnamon doll child. and she's sitting right in front on the table. and then suddenly she up and tumbles to the floor with a violent crash! and you guys screamed! it made me laugh so hard. cinnamon already seemed like trouble with a capital T-i mean-i ask you-who put the SIN(CIN) in CINNAMON-anyway?? hmm. we had the nerve to pose that question to the universe-and cinnamon had no choice but to hurl herself off the table-crashing onto the floor scaring us all! especially those of us who are new Yorkers, the ones who remember that blue blue sky on 9/11. THANKS CINNAMON! what is your next trick? pushing elderly people onto subway tracks and the like? I don't trust a spice that makes me cough if I get too much of it. I just don't. I am sorry folks.
now I did find an RAGGEDY ANN and ANDY ARTIFACT. from their old show biz days. and that is the clip of raggedy Ann's first number in the RAGGEDY ANN AND ANDY musical movie that I saw, lo those years ago. the number is even more affecting than I had remembered. keep in mind this is raggedy Ann's first number. the song that introduces and establishes us to her as a character. this is her "I want" song as the terminology goes. this is Raggedy Ann's "the wizard and I". this is raggedy Ann's "light my candle" this is Raggedy Ann's "I'm the greatest star" if you will. and you can't go wrong there now can you. the "I want" song-well I'll tell you what I want! I want raggedy ann singing this song to a sold out crowd at Carnegie hall! or The Hollywood bowl! or in residence at the Venetian in Vegas! that's what I WANT! have a listen.
now you may recognize the voice-raggedy Ann is voiced by none other than Hollywood actress and singer-didi conn! yes! our own "Frenchy" from the 1978 classic film GREASE! our own beauty school dropout herself! plus didi was also the female lead of the film YOU LIGHT UP MY LIFE. the film that also bears and introduced the song-"you light up my life". though not sung by the actual didi conn in the film, she was dubbed. it's not Debby Boone either. but sounds remarkably like her. and neither woman sounds anything like a voice that would come out of didi conn's body, but it was the 1970's, and we just all went with it because we'd just had vietman, Watergate, civil rights, civil unrest, a slew of assassinations, OLIVER winning best picture, and barbie now had the nerve to be staring right at us. we couldn't look away now. ever. forever more. now she looked right at us. and it scared us. it unsettled us. we have never really come back. so we just accepted didi conn as the singing "You light up my life" in the film of the same name in a voice that sounded nothing like her voice. we did. we went with it. luckily, it was much easier to accept her as the voice of our beloved raggedy ann.
so I guess it all worked out in the end. have a look at our own showbiz legend doing her classic "I want" song-"Rag dolly". let's welcome to the stage-- "the one and only-the red head, ginger haired wonderful (pause pause) doll-RAGGEDY ANN!" thanks for listening guys. love your channel. th-cam.com/video/Tl0roayk4YY/w-d-xo.htmlsi=yjB4cvoJVNcKxESi

After exhausting research I found that my Ann and Andy are definitely older than the two have on stands I'd be more than happy to add it to your collection of course for the right price but I know that Nana and Andy would be in good hands with you. Mine where made by hand in I'm told Norwalk CT MID to late 1930s.

Mine has the kind of orange hair and some very pretty blue button eyes the both of them do with the sewn on feet they're from an older couple whom unfortunately aren't with us anymore and they had a lot of things from World War II and I was told that they were the woman's when she was a child which would put them right back in the 1938 240 era where they made them in Norwalk Connecticut I'm in Connecticut strange Ed find them these are some of the very rare tagless ones with stitches I've had more professional outlook on them! It's going to be hard to sell them the pair that have been together since the late 1930s Wow real hard to break them apart!!

You guys really touch my heart with your caring for old things I'm the same way I've learned to celebrate things from the past they seem to be created with much more love and care than they are today so the ones that weren't discarded and are fine sand wonderful. I would find out exactly what they were worth but then I would cut you guys a good deal on them just because I like your channel and I don't really need the money right now
