The power under the hood of the red Chevy and it’s drivers reckless abandon toward ever bit of mechanical equipment on it is the reason this video is so great. I’d love to have seen it up close, although something tells me it is long blown up/wore out at this point
Old Chevys Never Die, They Just Go Faster! If you don't think that red Chevy is BAD, just watch at 5:35. It pulls a wheelie after the semi smokes tires! The driver obviously knows how to set up and drive a truck for pulling. One of the best videos on TH-cam!!
Everyone loves the red Chevy. What about the old Chevy with the wood bed, pulled the dually all over that parking lot. That was the real beast, and probably still went to work the next day. Slightly hungover, but made it to work I bet
im really impressed by that red truck, was pretty evenly matched against that flatbed but that duramax simply destroyed those tires. Surprised the frame didnt rip off when he tugged on that semi, thats a serious amount of force on the rear of the frame.
The semi really can't do much, its suspension is designed to be load bearing. There's zero weight holding the ultra firm suspension down. Put a few thousand pounds back there and those tires will bite hard. Plus those tires are made from ultra high compound rubber, not soft grippy rubber.
All the tires doesn't help either the tractor either. Traction is a product of friction of the mating surfaces and the weight applied over those surfaces. So if you add more tires without increasing the weight proportionally, you have less traction because they're using the same weight divided between them. Take off 4 tires and that rig would be unstoppable.
Randy Perkes With all due respect your take on it is incredibly flawed. First a tractor does not weigh "5 times" as much as the pickup. Tandem axle Sleeper cab OTR tractor should weight between 15-22K approximately. The pickup weights about 8K. So not even close to 5 times heavier. Second, the majority of the tractor's weight is up front doing nothing to help with traction. Thirdly, heavy duty commercial truck tires use hard compounds for long life so they don't hook as good because they carry so much weight usually that they don't need grippy compounds. This is NOT a contest of power at all but rather traction. This duramax most likely has nothing crazy under the hood. Probably just tuner and exhaust running in 4LO. Cheers.
What should be always measured is the "even line" Horizontal even pull. If one rig is pulling the tow line at an inch or more above the other, it gives advantage to the rig with the highest end of towline. Physic's roll heavy in comps like these or similar comps. Been a fun video to watch!! Thanks.
That and these people don't seem to understand how traction works. The truck (and driver) who can put 600 lbs of torque into moving their wheels one inch is going to win over the guy putting 600 lbs of torque into spinning the tires at 50 mph. Anyone with a decent amount of experience driving on ice will tell you that spinning your wheels is much less effective at moving you forward than using your power to keep traction.
On cragslist in a few weeks Chevy 3500 Dually single cab low miles never towed or anything second over clean title spotless paint engine and transmission serviced every 3000 miles never abused 😂
Nah it only looked like that because the dually let off after dragging him because he had nowhere left to go, s-10 could have caused issues pulling that stunt
Exactly what some commenters mentioned here, the Semi had no weight over its wheels so it cannot put its mammoth pulling power to use. I myself, tried to tow out a bogged Semi out of the mud, first bob tail (without trailer), when it became apparent that I could not get the traction I needed, I then re-attached loaded trailer, and tried again. It was no effort, pulled the Semi out sideways. So, yes that is a mean pick-up, but no it does not out-do a Semi truck. Semi trucks down in Australia are capable of towing 115 tonnes plus, that pickup would not even move at those weights.
Knowing trucks a little bit, my tuned LBZ Duramax actually has as much horsepower as that FTL classic and half as much torque. My pickup weighs 7700 pounds and truck weighs around 18000-20000 so pretty impressed with pickup. Yeah truck is bobtail but pickup has nothing in box either.
pablo escobar not really let me hook my weight box to that tractor He would rip the axle out of that little boy truck . Semi suspension is load bearing makes the tries grab under load .
+Squeek Tate Racism itself has a bad name. Most people on this world are racist. It's not about beating people or throwing them out of your bar for their color, it's the little things. Boy when that Cummins powered Chevy truck (the white single cab wood box) started chugging out that torque that was impressive you can tell them old Cummins got power man. Love the Red dually also 👍
It's all about torque and keeping grip really.....got nothing to do with the HP. That semi can win all he has to do is add weight on those rear axles. And that chevy would not do much to it.
donald gardner they dont make as much hp and torque as you think. they are work engines designed to pull heavy loads forever. its mostly gearing doing the work

Tug-a-war contests are all about 2 things....torque and traction. A 100 hp vehicle with traction can pull a 1000 hp vehicle with no traction around all day long. Once that yellow rig loss traction (all drive wheels turning) that was it. All it's torque and weight meant nothing.
