I know this has probably already been mentioned but honestly safest method is to remove screen cameras and battery then you have a free run at chiseling the shattered glass easily but not everyones comfortable opening up their 14 pro max so this is the other option but theres so many things that can go wrong doing it this way camera stabilizer can get damaged battery could get too hot and as he mentioned the charging port can get damaged. Credit where credit is due he done its so cleanly that he left no glue residue from the broken glass and no dents in the metal either impressive
Great video. I generally change the case and once I tried the glass only on a 11. That was a mess to glue the new one, I needed to put some elastics around the camera. Does the 14 pro max doesn't need that or you have a special glass?
It is recommended to remove them, however we have done multiple without removing anything and haven’t had a single issue. The trick is to be aware and careful
Yes it does, you have to be careful around the coil. It is only attached with one flex cable, also glass tends to go underneath so you can gently lift it up and blow the glass shards away.
I’m happy to see your videos I’m doing microsoldring, and I would like to start back glass too , so I was wondering do you kind of person that you like laser machin , because in my experience I had fixed many phones that laser machine caused damage in it , is it the way that you use 99% safe ? And thank you for the good video I hope to see more videos form you like that in the future
To start, there is always risk wether it is heat method or laser. My preference is heat because it is cleaner for one and safer in a way. You still have to be careful around the frame openings
best explained procedure step by step, great job mate. Can I have some beginner's advice since I'm new in the business, I just ordered the basic equipment and any advice as a beginner would be welcome. Thanks in advance🙂
Yes it does unfortunately, but so does the broken back glass so if you want to change it with apple and be factory sealed it’s 789€, and what the hell, you can buy a new phone, so i think this is your safest option, use a case u should be fine
Nice video, thank you for doing that. I'm doing microsoldering and want to start replacing the back glass too. Can I ask where do you buy glass? Do you have experience from Aliexpress? Unfortunately there are not many suppliers in the EU that have these glasses available. Thank you!
I am glad you found my video helpful, I have not attempted to buy back glass other than from US based vendors. However one tip I would suggest asking your future supplier wether it is a two piece glass or not, if it is i would suggest avoiding those since they are more fragile and break easily.
@dennishansen4001 its supposed to be wrapped in a tight circle along with the magnets around the bronze charging coil your referring to if its snagged just use a bit of glue to keep it in place
I watch a lot of repair videos for the peace value honestly but everyone says not to hold the heat gun so long like you were? I’m interested in understanding how you didn’t cause damage doing so? No hate love ur vids
To me it is all about how much heat you are applying and the orientation. If you can see heat is applied at an angle most of the time and not straight focused on one area. This helps air to travel and warm up a larger area but less warmer than if you focus it straight down. In my case we use 250-60. This temp does not affect the board underneath even if you leave it focused in one area for a long time due to the fact that apple switched from low melt to a higher temp solder that joints the interposer. Also around the camera is where you need to be most careful with how you apply heat because you can actually melt the camera lens and you may melt the flash or get desoldered. Think of soldering and chip replacement if you can perform that with no issues, then removing glass with heat method has a similar concept which is move heat to another area once piece is removed. Also, Plenty of videos will show you a botched frame full of scratches and dents. This helps minimize pressure applied to frame and causing less scratches and dents because it is warm enough for glass to lift easily but not warm enough to cause any damage to other components.
Is this cheaper than buying a new housing? Seems like a lot of work. I’m assuming the Apple Store would use a new housing. I appreciate how detailed and careful you are. I hate dust lol
It is definitely more profitable doing glass only, also keep in mind this was a 14 so there isn’t really much housings in the market yet and if you come across one i am sure it is more expensive. Price of glass is sub $10 compared to housing price which is over $200
Im surprised he leaves the phone all together, this is the highest risk method. I would only leave it together like this if it is a refurbished back (you can tell because the glass will fall off in most places). Did you know 250 is hot enough for the board to separate? Also technically the wrong type of hot air gun its better with a horizontal hot air station rather then vertical but I use the same one 😅
Haha, well i keep a garbage can under the table and occasionally try to sweep as i go. It limits the amount of glass you’ll have to deal with afterwards.
250C is a bit much, I melted once some plastic parts in the inside with less heat. And also for the battery so much heat is bad (it’s better to take the phone appart, even if it takes more time). You should be more careful with the edge, it seems you scratched the frame on the top (it also happened to me).
Everyone is comfortable with different heat settings, to me this is ideal. As far as the frame it may seem like that probably due to the angle of the camera. Also keep in mind it is all about how you apply the heat in order not to melt anything you can’t hold it in one spot for too long.
Hy i dont want to judge anybody this is only my opinion I always dissassemble the phone fully before start to heat the back glass and i am using 350-400 celsius and i never melt any plastic part on the phone i am currently working on. I think if you have to replace the backglass with heat or laser machine you should always take off the screen and take out the motherboard cuz you can easily damage the motherboard or the screen I,ll say once more it is only my opinion is working for me well And sorry for my english!
I use 180c along with super glue remover. 250c can melt to much stuff or if a board repair had been done with low melt solder it can cause issues with that. It takes a little more to remove it but it is much safer.I unplug the battery only and have never had an issue with damaging anything, knock on wood. I also move around on the phone so one spot doesn’t get to hot.
Apple makes sure it's not an easy job ! Why have a glass where your hand goes . They should have made a plastic rear cover that clips off to access the battery etc.
There are 2 types of back glasses on the market: two piece glass which is cheap and breaks easily and there is 1:1 one piece glass that is significantly higher quality and compares to oem.
Im still shocked that we allow apple to do this with us.. iphone 7 was the best matt black aluminum, i dont give a f about wireless charging u plug in cable and it charges wtf
Glass was replaced previoulsy. Using heat is bad the original apple glass you want to use the laser. The replacement glass no need to use that kind of heat to get it off.

How useful would a hot blade be in areas where there is no risk of melting plastic?
What do you use to clean the remains of the glue on the case?
Usually heat method takes care of that, but just in case u can use the flat exacto blade number 17 I believe.
Is this a silicone glue?
It is from mechanic t7000 (or t8000) I am not sure of the ingredients but doubt it is silicone
Is the glass casing apple logo a sticker type or it’s like genuine iphone type that is painted or embossed
Does it preserv the waterproof?
Most likely it will protect against tiny splashes but not recommended to get it wet

how many degrees do you use to remove broken glass?
It should be in the video, but 250 celsius and 60 air if I recall.
Which temperature and air used?
250 60
Very informative. Thanks man
Hi, Temperature please ?
good video, just curious why don't you use a laser machine to cut the glue out. its so much easier and you don't have to pry as much on the glass
Heat is cleaner for one. Depending on which laser machine you have, some you would need over 4-5 passes for the glass to come out easily.
lasers are expensive
better yet, you can replace the whole back for under 50 dollars
