Turn the guitar up) [Verse 1] Well, the goodness of your heart, she's crying, "Let me out" Well, the goodness of your soul, you say "Goodbye" Well, there's only meat and dark of a vase That says, "Goodbye, hello, goodbye, hello, goodbye" (Come on, yell) [Verse 2] And we'll spell all the sweet talk that I hear from her And those voices come creeping out of the night What they do, will they know, what they know, when they don't know nothing What they say that I hurt you once before (G minor) [Bridge 1] They lead a life apart from everybody, days in your mind They like to feel so different when you watch them fall like flies (C) When you feel the night (B flat) feel the night out of the day (Do it again) When you see the night, you see the night, she loves the day (G minor) [Instrumental Break] (Go ahead, you figure a film, it's still solos) [Verse 3] Well, she talks too much to know much about everything Christmas comes, just like breakfast, once a year She does, seems just tired of living Like a wall broke around her spell [Bridge 2] Give me somewhere else to hold for, to live for Give me something better to hope for They'll give me anything they can Give me anything you want us to hang onto Hold on, hold
Ever since '84 this comes along in the jukebox that's in me head. Right into purity of song writing and recording at the same time. This is a gem.
One of the best songs ever written.
I think that's a bit of an exaggeration.
I have a lot of favorite Cale songs, but this is the top fave solo track of all !
Cale makes it very easy to play along! Great song; the yelling of chord changes is also proof of the true original this man is.
Great album. John should embrace it
Need this song today
Turn the guitar up)
[Verse 1]
Well, the goodness of your heart, she's crying, "Let me out"
Well, the goodness of your soul, you say "Goodbye"
Well, there's only meat and dark of a vase
That says, "Goodbye, hello, goodbye, hello, goodbye"
(Come on, yell)
[Verse 2]
And we'll spell all the sweet talk that I hear from her
And those voices come creeping out of the night
What they do, will they know, what they know, when they don't know nothing
What they say that I hurt you once before
(G minor) [Bridge 1]
They lead a life apart from everybody, days in your mind
They like to feel so different when you watch them fall like flies
(C)
When you feel the night (B flat) feel the night out of the day
(Do it again)
When you see the night, you see the night, she loves the day
(G minor)
[Instrumental Break]
(Go ahead, you figure a film, it's still solos)
[Verse 3]
Well, she talks too much to know much about everything
Christmas comes, just like breakfast, once a year
She does, seems just tired of living
Like a wall broke around her spell
[Bridge 2]
Give me somewhere else to hold for, to live for
Give me something better to hope for
They'll give me anything they can
Give me anything you want us to hang onto
Hold on, hold
Cale is amazing this and comes alive both need a to come out on CD
Where is the CD!!!!!
@@timneave3240 it’s in dispute same as John Cale comes alive a record company dispute I doubt it will be resolved soon
For the love of all things holy - when is this album going to come to CD?!?!?! ALong with Comes Alive this is a sad gap in his discography.
Que temazo, uno de mis favoritos de John
top song!
John Cale is a genius!
Gminor, Bflat, gr8!

Is the point that he was making everything up as he went along? (Is this a dumb question??)
