I’m 60 now , became a Kiss fan around early 75 . Heard a kid at the 7-11 , singing hotter than hell. I remember thinking that a kidhell, then it was Rock n Roll all night at the bus stop. In 76 they became my rock hero’s . I didn’t get to see them until 79. I wasn’t old enough to drive yet , and my brother was forced by my parents to go with me. He hated KISS , he said they were fake, he was a Led Zeppelin head. But he told me after the show , he didn’t know any of the songs , but that was the best show he’d ever seen. We went again in 96 , and 2000. I have co worker friends in their 20s and 30s . I agree. We see all 4 guys contributing much more equally & a rough, tough, raw sound. Not over produced. Very real & very cool song structure. Enter 1976 rock & roll over, Kiss is now a proven entity. Still the 4 of em, working things out, but production is starting to get pretty slick. Love gun is beautifully produced, but we are beginning to see Pete’s Jazz/swing groove give way to pure power drumming & Ace’s soloing getting more sharp & crisp & starting to sound a little less like Ace. Less strings ringing out, where Ace might let them sing. This is all tidied up. Then Destroyer hits & production is full on. Too much in my opinion. & on some of the songs, I begin to wonder if that is Ace & Pete at all ? Or are they simply progressing as musicians & their natural flow & nuances are changing. Or has the slick production changed their style to the point they are unrecognizable. After Alive 2 it becomes clear & evident, Ace & Pete have others stepping in & doing some work & Kiss is never the same again. Not to say they got bad, just that they were no longer the band I fell head over heels for. The whole groove & vibe they once had, slowly diminished as Ace & Pete slowly checked out. Then the reunion. I was ecstatic, I imagined the possibilities of new material with Ace & Pete, coming back in, fresh, rested, with new perspective. It did not materialize as I had hoped. Those 1rst 4 albums are such a treasured gift. The rest are great, but there will never be anything like the 4 of them fresh, hungry & all with their head in the ballgame.
Kiss Alive! is my favorite Kiss album. All of the songs are from their first three studio albums. I've been listening to Kiss since the mid-70s. Everybody concentrates so much on the make-up, costumes, and pyrotechnics and they overlook the great songs.

I did catch their End of the Road tour in August of 2019, 45 years later.

A lot of people do not know the REAL stuff (deep tracks). The KISS Army Knows. God of Thunder. KISS!!!!!!!!!! LISTEN TO DAD.

For my eleventh birthday one of my older brothers gave me the double platinum album from Kiss. Everything changed since than, I mean everything. Music and Kiss became a big part of my life, my style, my humor and my attitude. Paul and Gene are hard working respectfull persons who will never complain and do almost everything to give the fans what they want. In my ears and head they never made a bad record or song. It's the collection of all of their songs and records in good and bad times through all of these decades that made them complete and legendary.
This is one of the first times on tv for KISS..... i got to see them here in Nashville on their very first tour in 1974 and i was hooked as an 11 year old the rawness and hunger they had will never be duplicated by any other band
"Rock Bottom," " I Want You," and "Black Diamond" gives you good views of how well they could structure a song. The original lineup just had a great chemistry.

Kiss was my second concert that I went to, which was in 1979. It was the Dynasty tour in Houston, Texas. All original members. “I Was Made for Loving You” was their top hit from the Dynasty album. My first concert was Cheap Trick in 1978. KISS was the one band that kicked it off for me, as far as Rock and Roll was concerned. 🤘🏼👍🏻🎸
Literally just search kiss live. Watch every full concert that pops up. I was a kiss fan since a kid and I was about 11 or 12 when we got internet and all I did was hold my guitar and watch concerts and try to learn every song I heard. Kiss is insane. It’s not just the show the makeup the fireworks, the outfits the boots, the fire. But the music. Kiss has to be the most underrated band musically
Kiss was a business brilliantly executed. Say what you want about their music… Gene Simmons was a genius. He knew what he wanted to accomplish and he knew how to do it, and he delivered. They rocked, they gave a show that dazzled, and, from what I’ve heard, they’re pretty good guys. I’m not a kiss fan, but I respect what they do and who they are and what they’ve done for music through the’70s and the influence they’ve had on the industry. These guys did everything to deliver an awesome show to make sure their audience left the show impressed.
Actually it was Bill Aucoin, Neil Bogart, and Sean delaney who were the marketing geniuses of Kiss in the early days until they rocketed to fame. Gene Simmons had nothing to do with it.
My very first concert was KISS Destroyer Tour in 76! What I saw that night blew me away! There has never been a band that put on that level of killer performance since!
This is from their first album, and it's the original lineup. "KISS" had several of their concert mainstays: She, Black Diamond, 100,000 Years, Firehouse, Cold Gin. You are sleeping on this band, if you don't check out the album that got the ball rolling!
The early KISS is where it's at! This is when the music was the driving force behind the band, not the money. When money became the most important aspect, the music took a backseat.
This is definitely one of my favourite Kiss songs, and a great performance of it at that. They were at their best in the 70s, there's no two ways about it.
One of the most influential rock bands of all time they sold over 110 million albums and are inducted into the Rock and roll Hall of Fame have more gold album sales than any other American rock band and without the kiss live show any show that you seen in the last 40 years would not be the same it all has kiss DNA in it. Ask motley Crue Metallica Nirvana Pearl jam STP Garth Brooks Lenny Kravitz skid row poison and many more what got them wanting to be music artists.
Dressed to Kill was the first album I ever heard by Kiss. I bought the cassette in 1992 when I was 16. So "She" ended up being one of the first songs I knew by them.
Well now...welcome to the club...welcome to the family...and welcome to the KISS ARMY! Now you know what literally millions upon millions of fans around the world know: KISS is a GREAT band. Deep dive? My man - how deep ya wanna dive? Just for show? Hardly. When referring to KISS, Gene Simmons has often said that they’re entertainers, not musicians. Maybe humility, maybe marketing, but KISS has showcased their musicianship several times through the decades. Check out KISS MTV Unplugged. Raw, talent, acoustic. Gene Simmons’ melodic bass and better-than-average vocals on display on Goin’ Blind. Paul Stanley’s vocals on the whole thing, but especially on the intro to Rock Bottom and the ballads Every Time I look at You and I Still Love You. Zeppelin grooves? Keep Me Comin’ from Creatures of the Night, or All Hell’s Breakin’ Loose on Lick it Up. Eddie Van Halen is easily one of the greatest guitar players ever, my all-time favorite rock/metal guitarist, but guess what? He tried to get a spot in KISS. A musical genius, who changed the way people played that instrument. Now check out Ace Frehley using the same tapping techniques (which Eddie perfected beyond belief) in the 70’s, when Eddie was still in grade school. Bruce Kulick, who played in KISS through the 80’s & 90’s hair-band years is a PHENOMENAL guitarist. Lead chops? Check out the intro solo on No, No, No, from Crazy Nights. A blistering clinic played against Eric Carr’s double-bass tempo. Speaking of drums, Eric Carr played in KISS longer than Peter Criss did, and is easily one of the most underrated rock/ metal drummers. The intro to No, No, No, showcases his double-bass tempo, but it actually goes way back to the song The Oath, on Music from the Elder. The most polarizing of all KISS albums. Fans love it or hate it. The songs, when taken out of the “concept” album standing alone aren’t that bad. Regardless - Eric’s prowess is evident in dozens of songs, from the very Bonham-like heavy kicks in Keep Me Comin’ and I Love it Loud, to the fast-paced technical beats on I’m Alive, Boomerang (drum & guitar solo), No No No, King of the Mountain, I’ve Had Enough, Under the Gun, yikes…there’s too many. One of the things that plagued KISS through the years, is poor choice of singles released by record execs. Period. Even what was arguably their biggest hit, Beth, was released on the B side to Detroit Rock City. A massive hit for them, but Beth, was a chart-topper. There are so many amazing songs in their catalog. What do you want to hear? Zeppelin-like grooves, fast-paced, double-bass drum metal, beautiful ballads? They got ‘em. The show you saw on Midnight Special was KISS show in diapers. Check out these clips from one of the more recent tours. I took all these photos and videos. This will give you an idea of why fans & critics often refer to a KISS show as “The Greatest Show on Earth”. link: th-cam.com/video/ebFujgzFhtk/w-d-xo.html Glad you gave these guys a nod. I hope you enjoy the rest of their catalog. There’s some real cringy stuff in there, embarrassing even, but there’s also a ton of gold and platinum. -Paul
This is the KISS that we all fell in love with. Young, hungry, and full of fire. KISS in the 70's were untouchable. Watching Ace tapping away........Ace was the best
watching through your whole KISS playlist now! Leaving comment for the algorithm! Edit: loved SHE from an early age, mostly the music because i didn't understand the lyrics until much later haha!
Saw them 1980 here in Germany shortly after "I was made for lovin you" came out. The opener for them was a (at that time) relatively unknown band named...IRON MAIDEN. How lucky can one man be haha...
She was written by Gene Simmons and Steve Coronel when they played in a band called Bullfrog Bheer. It was recorded in 1971-1972 by Wicked Lester that had Gene and Paul as members. Kiss released it on their Dressed To Kill album from 1975. The original had flutes and congas. It can be found on TH-cam. Wicked Lester - She. In 1977 Casablanca Records bought the rights to the unreleased Wicked Lester album for $137.500 from CBS who owned the rights. CBS wanted to capitalize on the fame of Kiss and wanted to release the album. So Casablanca bought the rights and shelved it. It had photos of Paul and Gene without make up and the music style was different.

I was obsessed at that time 13 yrs old and they were rehearsing at Stewart Airport Newburgh NY and I lived 15 or 20 min away.! That was trauma like no other.!!
@@raymorrow170 Poor little fella. He's just a boy! 🤣👍
@@armedinbama Actually trauma would hit two more times as my best friend had tickets to the 1980 Palladium gig.! Eric Carrs first show. But he picked HIS best friend which was not me to go with him.! So he was NOT my best friend after that.! Then Creatures tour came . ! I lived about 2hrs away and waited for a closer venue along with you got it. That same friend from 1980 and guess what.? A closer venue never came.! That was a mental breakdown for sure.! LOL.! I would finally see my 1st show on LIU TOUR.! And yes they came to a closer venue.! It was still winter and upstate NY. so it was no picnic.! SHOW ROCKED THO.!!
Best album and tour !
They hear me praise KISS , and see my key chain , coffee cups , and shirts with Kiss , and they are confused by the old famous band. They only know songs they’ve heard on the radio. And they only see the half band today. If ever shown the 70s Kiss , they are blown back like , we were.
I'm 60 now also.! Late 75 for me.! Rabid from the get go.! Older brothers friend told him take this album home and let ur little brother hear it. It was Kiss Alive. I looked at the cover and didn't quite figure out what was up. Heard that intro then that opening riff.! When that explosion went off so did I and I've been off ever since.!
This is the best line up of this iconic band. 74 - 78 they were unstoppable xx
73 to 79
Any of it with original four.!
Like kiss or not, kiss remains one of the biggest and most influential bands of all time
True!
Yes . If you have pyro it is because of Kiss .
They are not a band, they are an act. Explain how for 50 years, Gene, still doesn't know how to play the bass.
@@bobsmith1187 You are an idiot of the highest level. Explain how for fifty years Gene could blu his way through faking bass ???
@@bobsmith1187 kiss influenced millions , some of your favorite bands were influenced by kiss or opened for kiss...and if you cant see that simmons is actually a good bass player, then...you know nothing about music
This is the kiss that I grew up with it... was really something special and unique...
Incredible!
The first 3 albums + alive is the best version of KISS.
And the next two for me.
Their PRIME
Their PRIME
I agree.
We see all 4 guys contributing much more equally & a rough, tough, raw sound. Not over produced.
Very real & very cool song structure.
Enter 1976 rock & roll over,
Kiss is now a proven entity.
Everything up until Dynasty was 🔥
One of the absolute best KISS songs ever put on vinyl - this and Deuce are pretty much my favorites by this amazing band.
LET ME GO ROCK N RO!!
Kiss Alive....Their first live album. Killer!!!! Why so many of us learned to play guitar/drums/bass. Give it a listen.
I’ll have to check it out!
Great reaction Steven!! Check out Kiss, 100,000 years, live from that same time frame mid 70's. You will love it!!
Glad you enjoyed and thanks for the suggestion! I bet it’s killer!
@@setonhillstudios Do it!
Great Reaction ! KISS tracks that rock hard….
1) Parasite (1974)
2) Deuce (1974)
3) Black Diamond
4) Watchin’ You
5) Hotter Than Hell
Thanks for the suggestions, glad you enjoyed the video!
Going Blind would be my #6..
Gotta put Strange Ways in there too! Peter on vocals and Ace's coolest solo!
Strange ways! Man that's heavy
Almost human
I’ve seen KISS live twice…1976 and 1977….two of the best concerts I’ve ever been to.
I bet they were fantastic!
I'm jealous.
Kiss Alive! is my favorite Kiss album. All of the songs are from their first three studio albums. I've been listening to Kiss since the mid-70s. Everybody concentrates so much on the make-up, costumes, and pyrotechnics and they overlook the great songs.
Tell me about it. I hear people say all the time, "Kiss is nothing but show"
And I have to remind them that back in the day, we became fans by hearing their music on the radio. It was the MUSIC that made us buy the albums and go to the concerts. In the very beginning we didn't even know what Kiss looked like until we saw our first Kiss album cover, and everyone forgets it was the music that made us look for the album in the first place.
Agreed
This one of kiss’s heaviest best song.
Towards the end, you can see Gene, looking at Ace's solo, and thinking, wow, this dude is better than I thought!!!
Your dad's a smart man. He knew! Glad to see you appreciate the original Kiss. Never stop rocking
Haha 🤣 No doubt about it!
Peter Criss is a LEGENDARY ROCK ICON!!
Peter Criss and Ace Frehley had skills.
No doubt! They absolutely brought that 🔥 🔥
They all did!
Unfortunately they had vices as well.
Till Ace fried his brain. Too bad...😐
" Strange Ways "was Peter Criss's break out vocals
( my opinion ) & Ace's incredible lead guitar
I was 13 when Kiss hit the scene. Saw them on tv and was an instant fan. Their early stuff is killer, they became more pop like as time passed.
Kiss from 1973-1975...hardest KISS! ALIVE! album is an all time classic!
In 2019, at our family Thanksgiving dinner, I told my oldest sister that she failed me. She inquired, "How was that?"". I said in 1975, when I was 13, Kiss played at the Cap Center in Largo, MD. in May and again in November. I told her that as my big sister, she failed to get me to see either show. I did catch their End of the Road tour in August of 2019, 45 years later.
Better late than never.
@@zuketroop1 I actually saw them in "77
3 days before my 13th birthday, with my older friends, my mom was very trusting 🤣 AC/DC opened.
Louisville, KY.
People underestimate KISS because of the radio friendly overplayed stuff like "Beth", " I was made for lovin' you", "Shout it out loud", etc. The deep tracks is where KISS is at. A lot of people do not know the REAL stuff (deep tracks). The KISS Army Knows. God of Thunder. KISS!!!!!!!!!! LISTEN TO DAD.
old KISS is a different animal from 80's Kiss
You are correct!
Absolutely
My favorite song from their discography will always be Strange Ways from the Hotter Than Hell album.
First heard it in 75 as a kid and it still gives me goosebumps when I play it.
The smile on your face says it all with my mouth wide open I couldn't believe what I was seeing as a 10-year-old kid this blew my mind
The real Kiss.Must hear more songs from '70's🤘
Yeah, apparently I’ve been missing out! They blew my mind on this one! 🔥
@@setonhillstudios Check out Deuce from the same show (Midnight Special) for a real kick in your ass :)
Ahhhh the 70 s what an awesome time to be a teenager, loved every minute of it , KISS oh yes back then you had not lived until you had your eye brows singed off at one of their superb concerts.✌️❤️
Kiss Alive is the album you need to hear to know vintage Kiss.
I saw KISS live in 1976. and many years ago I heard the first Kiss Alive album a bunch of times. but I think this is one of the best songs and performance I have ever seen from them. I only got into the first live album Kiss Alive. I never got into any of their studio albums.
black diamond from this period its highly recommended... greetings from México!!!
Sweet! A few others have recommended that as well! Thanks and greetings! 😄
Your reaction is exactly what they are looking for. Like nothing youve ever seen
I remember watching this on television I was 13 years old and it blew my mind and I was hooked I was like an addict I couldn't get enough of kiss
Classic kiss from around,74/75,they were on fire at that point,I didn't get to see them till 1980,when their new drummer,Eric carr had just joined, they were fantastic, but I still would have loved to have seen them at this time.
I did see this line up between,96-99 on their reunion & physcho circus tours, but still
fist 6 albums and the first 2 live albums are just pure FN gold!!!
1974-1979 was the best era for them 😊
78
I saw them in 1979 and they had a great show but sounded like crap. They were out of tune and off key but the stage show was great.
@@exnihilo3302 yes, that's why I said 78 lol
Joined KISS Army around 77-78!! 🔥🔥🔥 Saw them a few times later in their career and they were fire each time!! A few of my favorites are Deuce, Strutter and Cold Gin. I never saw this performance so thank you SO much for bringing this out!! This was awesome!! 🤘🤘
Glad you enjoyed and thanks for the suggestions!
If you had been there in the 1970's-
man was it fun.
They changed everyone's live performance.
I saw everyone using pyro shortly after my first KISS concert, 1977.
Good times indeed.
the first 3 albums are the true Kiss sound..
Nope. Destroyer, Rock & Roll Over, and Love Gun.
@@Prof_Tickles92as a KISS fan in the late 1970s … They went downhill after Destroyer, and Love Gun is crap.
@t neonmonk. Downhill.?? What planet were you living on.? Their popularity went up to the top.! Downhill to you maybe.! But the good old USA saw them as the biggest group in the world.! Gallop Polls and all.!! Downhill.! Yeah right dude.! You need to state that's your opinion.! Which by the way is downhill.!
@@neomonk5668bullcrap. You're wrong about that.
@@Prof_Tickles92Kiss allegedly had no creative control at all with destroyer. Their original concept was 2 guitars, a bass and drums. Simple meat and potatoes rock and roll. That changed drastically with destroyer. Love Guns great though
I ve been a kiss fan since I met the band in 1977 and have seen them live over 300 times and I can agree with you and your dad 100% rock and roll
300 times?!?! That’s so EPIC!!!!
This is the Original KISS! Rock N Roll at its finest!
I saw them in 1978. Killer concert. Destroyer
One hell of a performance!
This, in my opinion, is their best tune.
Totally agree 💯
Kiss was my second concert that I went to, which was in 1979. It was the Dynasty tour in Houston, Texas. All original members. “I Was Made for Loving You” was their top hit from the Dynasty album. My first concert was Cheap Trick in 1978. KISS was the one band that kicked it off for me, as far as Rock and Roll was concerned. 🤘🏼👍🏻🎸
Cool! "Firehouse" is also a banger!
Sweet!
Well… third album. Dressed to Kill. The END jam is actually from the first album”let me know”
Never heard this. I am blown away!!
The early KISS is where it's at! This is when the music was the driving force behind the band, not the money. When money became the most important aspect, the music took a backseat.
I stumbled on this video a few months ago and was completely blown away by it.
KISS Alive album all day. My favorite cuts: "Got to Choose, Watchin' You, Parasite, Rock Bottom, and Let Me Go Rock n' Roll."
Parasite is such an under rated song. I love that tune!
Ace is in fire on let me go!
This is definitely one of my favourite Kiss songs, and a great performance of it at that. They were at their best in the 70s, there's no two ways about it.
And There is a Prime Example of Why "Kiss"💋 Plowed Over the Competition Like a "Sherman Tank"....
I've played since I was 10. I always wanted to be like Ace as a teenager 48 yrs ago.
Love that! You still play these days?
Let’s gooooo! Thanks for sharing!
This will give you an idea of why fans & critics often refer to a KISS show as “The Greatest Show on Earth”. link: th-cam.com/video/ebFujgzFhtk/w-d-xo.html
Glad you gave these guys a nod. I hope you enjoy the rest of their catalog. There’s some real cringy stuff in there, embarrassing even, but there’s also a ton of gold and platinum. -Paul
The early kiss was badass. They turned me into a total metal head. 🔥🤘
This is the KISS that we all fell in love with. Young, hungry, and full of fire. KISS in the 70's were untouchable. Watching Ace tapping away........Ace was the best
They were incredible!
Ace was THE MASTER of the 15 second solo...EVERY NOTE FIT
She is without a doubt,is the hardest rocking slow dance in Rock history. Its about a woman who likes to go down.

This riff pops up into my head out of the blue all the time
The first solo is a direct lift from The Doors’ Five to One. Early Kiss was out of control.

Thanks for all the info!
I learned this when I was about 8 years old. Been a diehard fan since.
