The IPhone 13 Pro and Pro Max are definitely not worth upgrading from especially camera wise. I have been unpleasantly surprised to see how overly warm some of the sample photos from the 14 Pro Max have been with too much saturation and over sharpening going on. Hopefully future software updates will sort this out. Video is stunning, as is that taken on the 13. Action mode is an aggressive but very useful software upgrade that will filter down to the 13 series hopefully. If Apple don't decide it would cost them money in IPhone 14 upgrade terms and not allow it to filter down to the 13 with the argument that only the chipset in the 14 Pro and Pro Max support it.
@@MatthewRass Practically nobody anymore. I feel like people did it a bit more when top flagship phones cost like 600-700€ but now at this wild price range it doesn’t happen much at all lol

Fantastic detailed comparison, there are some clear improvements, though not huge they are there. Happily going on with my 13 Pro Max, but I think people coming from 8 Plus, Xs Max and even 11 Pro Max will see substantial gains when going to 14 Pro Max.
I have an iPhone 13, I’ll be upgrading to 14 Pro Max, as pro max is the mobile I want to have from now on. It’s a good upgrade from regular 13 model but I don’t think there’s any sanity in upgrading from 13 Pro Max to 14 Pro Max unless you just want a new iPhone every year or 2
Solid review!!! I'm upgrading from an iPhone XS Max, so I'm excited to experience the quality upgrade in the cameras for photos/videos as well as overall performance and smoothness along with iOS 16.
@@evacomamartin3332 Upgrading from the Xs Max too. I figure I got 4 years out of it so I sort of got my money's worth. Apple says it will be here on Friday, UPS says Tuesday. Hopefully Apple is just under promising!
I'm upgrading from my X this year, and I'm super hyped about those speakers! Even if the CPU/GPU upgrades are only incremental this year, it'll be a HUGE leap from what I have now~ Great video!
LOL you too on the good old iPhone X.. I had been planning to switch since 2019, then last year.. either did not want to get bothered with iOS to Android chat apps messages and data transfers, copy paste shit, or put hold on the switch cause "errmmm yeah this year`s iPhone is nice , but NEXT year this and this will be upgraded..." yeah, always something new coming, but really, next year there is USB-C, a proper milestone and turning point, together with 3nm A17 Bionic (maaaybe better camera zoom too).. 13 Pros would have basically done it for me, great battery and all other bits, but I am just about ok with the X for now .. battery at 78 percent original capacity, but it does alright, I work as a chef so not much time to use it at work haha..
@@shitmir Honestly, I'd hold onto my phone for another year or two if it weren't for the poor performance, battery life, and (the main reason I picked out the 256GB model on the Pro Max) my lack of storage. I had to wipe my phone a few months ago because it ran out of storage and got bricked, it almost happened again yesterday (got stuck in a "boot loop" of sorts, where the phone would crash whenever I tried to unlock it, forcing me to hard restart), but I was thankfully able to access my camera roll through Siri and delete a few videos that way, haha. If you don't need those upgrades, ain't no point in upgrading!
@@oshotz yeah, I have 64gb X, so quite often see I am close to 59gb or so, then I delete some pictures and videos, most definitely I dont need to keep anyway.. the notch is getting a bit old, I am in love with some of this year UDC phones and uninterrupted screen display. but really love the way this 5 year old grandpa works, STILL, probably one of the last iOS updates, esp banking apps and such, regular security and maintenance updates are much appreciated and help my peace of mind...
Wow the speakers really impressive. I have the 13 Max and they're already awesome. Huge improvement over 11 Max. So good I don't even prefer the 12.9 iPad for listening to something anymore. Another step up means they must be incredibly good.
@@Nala_1230 yes no question they're better. But the 13 pros are so good I don't bother to get my iPad to listen to stuff like when eating. The experience is absolutely satisfying, which wasn't the case on previous iPhones.

4:51 Also no one has mentioned that the Dynamic Island is LOWER on the display than the iPhone 13 Pro notch. Meaning if you watch alot of fullscreen video on youtube or movies, it will creep inward more and will be more noticeable. Idk why no one has mentioned this.
best video until now, i’m tired because everyone else was talking about THE SAME THINGS!!! thanks from 🇧🇷 love your videos!! looking forward to camera comparisons
Let’s keep this on file, and when the next latest models get released, we compare again. Some suspect that, just before the latest devices get released, a software that degrades the older models gets released first, to make the new latest ones stand out as more superior.
One thing I hate about my iPhone 12 pro max is the warm tint display. I always preferred cool over warm. To see that back on the 14 sucks, but thankfully there’s a color filter setting to change the color tint.
Their implementation is much better than the competition - regardless of the fact that it draws like 20% battery on standby per 8 hours instead of 5%... Great implementation.
I like that Apple cares about my financial well-being and doesn’t make me want to buy their new phone. Truly inspirational and socially responsible company!
Just bought a brand new 13 pro max one TB in alpine green for 950 UK pounds, warranty with apple to Oct next year and 24 month warranty with Giffgaff network, the 14 pro max one tb is near double the price at 1750 here in the UK and I can't see any real improvement, the improvements between the 12 pro max and 13 pro max were far greater, the larger battery, the pro motion and even the A14-A15 performance improvement was greater than the A15-A16.I think the real game changer will be the iPhone 15 pro max with a CPU that's a real improvement and most likely a five x zoom.
I don’t comment often, but this video is perfect. Very detailed! Keep up the great work! This video definitely deserved a comment and like. Absolutely stellar work!
Changed my iPhone X to 13 pro last year, barely feel any difference in daily use. Maybe better battery life since it was new, and better camera. I still remember when I changed my iPhone 4 to 5s, 5s to 6, 6 to x, I just felt tons of happiness and surprise. iPhone is getting boring now. They are just improved on tech numbers every year.
I'd agree with this 👍🏻 The 6S+ is the last iPhone that blew me away. I've done nothing but bleet about the XS Max and my 12 Pro Max especially the damn bulk and weight of the things.
@@trk4363 go for it, i’m upgrading to the 14 pm from my 3 year old xr which is still in good condition but the battery is at 79% and the display is pretty bad compared to newer phones so i really encourage you to upgrade to the 14 pm unless you want to hold out for the 15 next year!

Hey guys, I've seen it before. When you test cellular data performance it varies too much and isn't a reliable representation of the actual modem performance with such a bad reception. To judge overall modem performance it's best if you test them all in an open place closer to a tower.
Agree, as someone in the telecom business I would take it a step further and say the only way to test is within a mobile operators lab under controlled test conditions with real test equipment and recorded results
@@tabboo5576 You may be right, but as a means for them to roughly test modem performance for the end user, they should use a selected spot with optimal reception. (this way modem software algorithm will play a smaller role)
Amazing, insane, fantastic comparison dude! This is a really complete video! 😎👌🏼 I have to see no more videos about iPhone 14 Pro Max. I have a S22 Ultra but definitely I'll buy this phone in a couple of months
I ran a storage speed test on my 13 Pro Max 512GB right after seeing this video and my result is almost identical to the 14 Pro Max, I’m not sure how did you get such a low result on your 13 Pro Max, is that 256GB?
Disappointed dimming/thermal throttling isn’t fixed, but at least it’s improved some. I’m outside all the time for work and I can’t stand the 13 PM dimming within the first 10 minutes. Have a new 14 PM, so any improvement is welcomed. Hope it’s completely fixed with the 15. Great video👍🏻
@Navire his money not yours. Some people can actually afford it without thinking twice. Wish I could. Guess I’m gonna be rocking this 13 Pro Max for quite a bit.
Ive been patiently waiting to hear from you all. You are so thorough. Congrats on the one million. More success to follow for sure with the detailed work you all do. 💯
I was looking forward to the speaker comparison. Impressive that the speaker performance in the 14 is that good, as the speakers on the 13 Pro Max are already really really good.
Great video, probably the best comparison video on right now. Btw with the Geekbench results, my 13 pro results are slightly better with the new ios16 update. I managed to get single core: 1745, Multicore: 4864
From a person who transitioned from 13 Pro Max to 14 Pro Max, i can safely say that the improvements are evident. Outdoor brightness is phenomenal. Its very smooth too n camera’s are a big upmove. Always On Display isn’t something great but Dynamic Island is something Apple can definitely take advantage of in gradual updates. Overall its a good upgrade.
@@farouq143 i have 14 Pro Max 256 gb Variant Bro. For me it is more than enough as regular backups on Mac n icloud provides added peace of mind for data protection n honestly 256 is sufficient provided you are not a Big photographer/Videographer. Hope this helps bro.
I did an informal comparison last night between my 13 pro max and my wife's new 14 Pro Max (which is a major and justified upgrade from her old 8 that had the original battery). The 14 Pro starts up a whopping 0.25 to 0.5 seconds faster than 13 Pro. And the dynamic island to me so far is a clever software gimmick that could really have been added to the newer notch phones, although it would have been unreasonable to ask for customized UI graphics for each different version of the notch. The camera bump also is now extremely chunky, but there is no defying physics when it comes to optics and cameras, so I understand why it's big. The 4k cinematic mode is pretty significant if you now record everything in 4k, and were surprised when last year's 13 was limited to 1080p (which wasn't mentioned at all last year). The always on display is pretty cool, but we'll see how that impacts battery life. I couldn't see a difference in screen quality. RAM is still at 6 GB, but it's higher bandwidth and faster. It's not worth upgrading from a 13 pro to a 14 pro. What no reviewer has done yet is... time and show how a year's worth of iphone IOS upgrades applied throughout the year will continually slow down that current year's iPhone start-up time. My 13 pro max felt noticeable slower on start up after 6 months or so. It's pretty irrelevant seeing a 14 pro beat out a 13 pro during a simultaneous start-up test. It might be fair showing a start up drag race between iPhone 14 pro running iOS 16.0 vs iPhone 13 pro max running iOS 15.0. Show me how the iPhone 14 pro starts up after 5 or 6 iOS updates, and for then final iOS 16 update before iOS 17, compared to when it's new with iOS 16.0 .
I don't think it's worth a $300 price difference compared to last year's 13 Pro Max. Believe that's roughly what my upgrade from 13 Pro Max to 14 Pro Max would have cost, not including taxes, and assuming I would have need able to seamlessly transfer my e-sim.
Cool! I am upgrading from 11 & knew I had to come here before choosing 13P or 14P - so thank you! Definitely going ahead with the 14P - why not?! Really cool features & Performance peaks! Thanks you guys! ✨
Might as well, latest and greatest. My wife still has the 11 and refuses to upgrade..She must like having to have her phone plugged into the charger 24/7 🤣
@@topper2142 😂 Tell her I understand! There REALLY is nothing wrong with my phone - my husband is on my back about updating finally. I told him because my phone is in perfect condition I better give the highest trade-in value too! My 11 is elite! LOL!!!
If they extend the camera bump across the top of the back or along the length of it, like some Androids do, it would stop the wobble and give additional space for more hardware.
It will be interesting to see how the 14 Pro Max does with screen dimming in sun; a major problem for me. Unfortunately I don’t get mine for about a month. Great 👍 video, and congrats 🍾 on your achievement.
I’m happily sticking to my 13 pro max hardly any different Apple are ripping customers off I’ll upgrade when the notch goes all together and a whole new re design
13 pro max is a 5 year king phone because of his battery performance 120hz display. But 12 pro is not in same category. If someone have -3 pro max wait for atleast iphone 18
Thanks for the great comparison. Honestly, I wasn't a huge fan when I first find yiur channel a year ago. I was skeptic as you being an apple fan boy. But over the time, the more videos I watched from you, the more your approach grew on me. I specially like your blind image comparison videos. Keep up the great work
Great comparison! Thanks for covering everything that nobody else gets into. Keep up the good work. The larger “5G antenna” cutout you mentioned is actually only reserved for millimeter wave (FR2) frequencies. I saw that you had the “5G UC” symbol on your test phone. That is signifying T-mobile’s 2.GHz (n41) 5G carrier, which is utilizing the regular six antennas around the phone and not the large “5G antenna”. Your test still shows that the new phone definitely has a better/new modem with a higher peak throughput. I’m interested in you testing the 14 pro’s larger 5G antenna off of a millimeter wave frequency small cell. Verizon’s millimeter wave 28ghz (n261) small cells are prevalent in most major cities now and currently give me a peak speed of up to 3.2gbps at best. I wonder if the new larger mmw antenna will make a difference in higher peak speed or maintaining the mmw signal further out since it’s usually pretty sensitive.
It sucks knowing that iphone 14 pro uses smart hdr 4 used in the 13 pro image processing too which means same over-sharpening and crushed shadows issues.
You did cover the 5g antenna on the iPhone 14 pro when they were side by side and I’m sure it’s the reason it scored worse indoors than it would otherwise unobstructed
Great video comparing them together I love tech and I love to help people and teach them about the differences ect. You nailed it and just genuinely wanted to help people
4nm is the third iteration on 5nm process from TSMC so it is not a huge leap from what we got on A15. A16 should be on 3nm but Covid happen. I believe the gain we see on larger 14 Pro Max variant are due to how the phone can handle much higher freq while keeping the thermal output identical to its 13 Pro Max counterpart with its slightly better 4nm process. No IPC gain I can see here.

Or maybe people who upgrade every year are just money spenders? Who actually upgrades every year? The numbers are so low.
@@MatthewRass Practically nobody anymore. I feel like people did it a bit more when top flagship phones cost like 600-700€ but now at this wild price range it doesn’t happen much at all lol
@@MatthewRass well not to mention that carriers like att make it easy to upgrade every year by trading the old phone lol.
so happy i've decided to get a 14 Pro Max this year. I love that you guys mention things like speakers, no one else does this and it really bothers me. thanks for this amazing video.
Congrats on 1mil! You guys more than deserve it. That said, I will hang on to my 13 PM til 15. Thank you for all you guys do!
Although, sometimes I don’t like the clickbaity titles/thumbnails of Max Tech channel, but I always appreciate that they go that extra mile in their comparisons, reviews and other details which might’ve been missed. Great job, team Max Tech.
"Nobody has showing you yet" is the most used sentence in this video and with right, this is incredible as always guys. As I commented in previous video nobody talked about most of things you talk on your videos. Thanks a lot again, your videos are amazing.
Nice try bot
Fantastic detailed comparison, there are some clear improvements, though not huge they are there. Happily going on with my 13 Pro Max, but I think people coming from 8 Plus, Xs Max and even 11 Pro Max will see substantial gains when going to 14 Pro Max.
Im happy with my 13 pro max (i upgraded from iphone 8 plus)
@@nicolasbetancourt3682 that is amazing and very significant jump!
@@Tsepz yeah
I have an iPhone 13, I’ll be upgrading to 14 Pro Max, as pro max is the mobile I want to have from now on. It’s a good upgrade from regular 13 model but I don’t think there’s any sanity in upgrading from 13 Pro Max to 14 Pro Max unless you just want a new iPhone every year or 2
The pill isn’t that much of a difference huh?
Solid review!!! I'm upgrading from an iPhone XS Max, so I'm excited to experience the quality upgrade in the cameras for photos/videos as well as overall performance and smoothness along with iOS 16.
Same but idk if it’s worth upgrading the iPhone XR to 14 pro max lol
Im sure it is!! Its been like 4 years If we can upgrade I think is our time!! I cant wait to get the 14 pro
@@evacomamartin3332 Upgrading from the Xs Max too. I figure I got 4 years out of it so I sort of got my money's worth. Apple says it will be here on Friday, UPS says Tuesday. Hopefully Apple is just under promising!

@@BookClubDisaster are you getting the pro max version?
You guys have the best Apple product reviews by far, thank you for all you do.
I knew it! The audio was so much better on 14 Pro that I thought maybe my 13 Pro speakers were dirty or damaged.
Same it sounds very muffled or very static like
I really love this extreme testing-Thank you so much for all the time and efforts you put in creating this video,It’s very interesting to see the differences,I am disappointed that the dimming issue still remains,I was hoping it would get better!.Anyway keep up the great content!.
Got the 14 pro max yesterday and wow… next year they are going to have to do some good stuff to pry this one out of my hand next iPhone season.
I really appreciated the extra comparisons that you did that no one else has been doing. Thank you!
HIs geekbench scores were off.
@sheri schweyer I hope you like it
4:51 Also no one has mentioned that the Dynamic Island is LOWER on the display than the iPhone 13 Pro notch. Meaning if you watch alot of fullscreen video on youtube or movies, it will creep inward more and will be more noticeable. Idk why no one has mentioned this.
There has lol
That sliver of screen above the cutout is annoying when playing full screen.
He spoke abt it tho
Elite comparison again fellas. Hats off to you. Thanks for the speaker comparison, literally nobody was pointing this out

best video until now, i’m tired because everyone else was talking about THE SAME THINGS!!! thanks from 🇧🇷 love your videos!! looking forward to camera comparisons
Let’s keep this on file, and when the next latest models get released, we compare again.
Some suspect that, just before the latest devices get released, a software that degrades the older models gets released first, to make the new latest ones stand out as more superior.
You deserve all the success. No one works harder than you guys. Certainly not the lazy print media.
One thing I hate about my iPhone 12 pro max is the warm tint display. I always preferred cool over warm. To see that back on the 14 sucks, but thankfully there’s a color filter setting to change the color tint.
lol i hated the blue tint on the 12 which was warmer on 11... so now with 14 being warm again its a huge win :)
Same the yellow tint is much worse than having pure white it’s a panel lottery though I’m sure there’s some 14pm that are pure white
Congrats on the milestones! You guys truly enjoy making this content. Appreciate all the effort.
I have the 13 pro max and am happy with it still. I upgraded from the 12 pro max due to the 120hz display because that’s huge!
The reason why the power button got lowered and the volume buttons lower is because people would alway screenshot their phones by mistake! 😆
Why no body is making comparison for battery life 14 pro max vs 13 pro max ?????
Now this is the kind of review I was waiting for. Eagerly awaiting the camera tests.
We're getting to a point where you don't really see a difference in tech.
Why boring? This is what a smartphone is. What can you expect more? It's true that high-end smartphones already became great since late 2017..

Upgraded from 12 PM to 14PM … Substantial improvement … especially with cam and image stabilization
Really appreciate you putting all of this in one video instead of 10 different ones.

Have the 13 Pro Max, I’ll wait until the iPhone have a USB C charger. Probably next year due to legislation.

Excellent this just confirms sticking to my 13 pro is a good choice I upgraded from an 11 to a 13 pro I’m quite happy with it plus iOS 16!!!!!
The iPhone 14 pro max speakers are loud as heck a clear difference !!!! I think it’s a better overall phone

If they extend the camera bump across the top of the back or along the length of it, like some Androids do, it would stop the wobble and give additional space for more hardware.

Could the new antenna cutout be related to the satellite communication capability?
This is real Chanel! You are the best! Please continue with this work!
It sucks knowing that iphone 14 pro uses smart hdr 4 used in the 13 pro image processing too which means same over-sharpening and crushed shadows issues.
Got the 14 Pro Max recently, upgrading from the 11 Pro Max and I’m absolutely happy!
Nobody gives such a deep impression. Good work Dude as always.
Thanks for the comparison. I’ll keep my 13 Pro Max, really not a big enough difference to make me want the 14 Pro Max .
