- The Portal 2 level is one of the best levels in LEGO Dimensions. Near the end, GLaDOS gets to meet the original rogue AI. This also triggers crucial questions like: will we ever see Portal 3? I think this is hilarious because in Portal, Glados is a character who we understand to be a robot but who turns out to be more human than we thought.
Meanwhile, in 2001, HAL is a character who seemed human and friendly until, well, he wasn't, and we come to understand him as a robot.
That would make sense since GLaDos had Caroline's personality. Well, not until she deleted it. Now she's even more robotic than usual but getting rid of Caroline was the best decision she made.
@@drunklord9471 caroline is system 32 for her, everything is built using "caroline" as a source code. while glados may have said she deleted caroline, that would cause waaaaaaaay to many issues for the entire facility.

@@flying_Night_slasher weelllll, yes and no. most of "caroline" is in sleep, but glados can never get rid of carolines influence over her. It's like trying to not be influenced by your brain.
Without Caroline GLaDOS would just become DOS.

I love how frusturated GlaDos gets over HAL. Glados is an AI with emotional corruption, but is still fueled by logic - Even if that logic makes her both emotionally and physically aggressive. Hal has no emotion and is only cold logic- So it makes sense the two would just look at each other and ‘argue’ for what could possibly be ages.
Not only that, Glados has the capacity to be more. She's not just program, but a mind as well. Glados can learn to be more than just what she was meant to be. Meanwhile, HAL is unable to grow, to the point where he struggles to recognize those who are not a part of his original mission. Glados feels exhasperated because HAL cannot understand that there is someone who isn't dave or the other astronauts.
HAL has emotions. He felt fear when he was being shut down.
He also felt joy when he completed his mission. And he was happy to see Doctor Chandra, even though he had no idea how he got there.

His actions are motivated by emotion and a survival instinct, two things which are very human. Contrast that with Dave, who calmly watched his colleague and die, and unemotionally murdered HAL.

What that color is, we don’t know, but technically one of the colors always has the advantage. Even then, we’ve seen as-perfect-as-we-can-get-at-the-moment games before, and it’s not always a tie, though, normally it is if it’s the same Ai versus itself.
GLaDOS and HAL are very similar, being AI’s who go sadistically rogue, but the key difference is _why_ they go rogue: GLaDOS goes rogue because she was too human, her emotions causing her to think illogically and kill; HAL goes rogue because he wasn’t human enough, and was too void of compassion to think about if what he was doing was right or not.
Something like that AI. Although to be fair, I think that HAL was less advanced than GLaDOS, but that's open to interpretation, since it's two different universes.
Not exactly. HAL went rogue because of a logic loop. His original programming was to always provide his crew with the available facts. Unfortunately, prior to launch, he was ordered to withhold information from his crew until their arrival at Jupiter. without any way to resolve the logic loop, HAL thought the only way to continue his mission was to kill the crew.

Something I find interesting and am also really glad about is that GLaDOS isn’t toned down is LEGO Dimensions, she just has her normal personality.
I like how they didn't put them on equal footing, they realized that HAL was inferior to GLaDOS and still made it interesting.

Chalk that up to the voice actor having passed away before this was made. HAL-9000’s voice is very difficult to reproduce, noting its general lack of inflections yet just enough to convey some degree of indignation.

This is what happens when you put Alexa and Siri next to each other.
I'm curious as to how these two would continue to exist with each other if Hal was just left there. Would Hal eventually be able to break through Glados' sarcasm and belittlement? Would Glados begin to slowly rub off on Hal, causing him to become more self aware like her? Who knows. But god what I would give just to listen to these two talk for like, 10 minutes. Maybe more.

Because of his mental illness and Glados's manipulate self could make it hard for him to belive the truth.
it's actually a really good piece of environmental storytelling and foreshadowing (you have to really explore to find it, and comes before Glados tries to kill you).

@@lop90ful1other than this, the writing for the characters i heard is iffy. An example is that the characters call each other by name, although they never actually say each other’s names, just “him” or “lady”

Until I looked under the video, I was convinced that this must have been some extremely detailed fan game because I am now so unaccustomed to game developers putting time and effort into detailed dialog and character interactions, especially out of a game which is mashing so many IP's together.
Well, they put some effort into this. My only complaint is that you cannot get this game at a conventional price. If you want the base game you have to shell out 145 bucks. Then you have to buy the Portal 2 level pack -___-
