She’s telling you the truth about calendula. I made calendula salve way back in the 1990s. I saw that stuff heal everything from diaper rash to bedsores. I made the calendula into a glycerin tincture and added the tincture into petroleum jelly and stir with a toothpick or novelty ice cream stick
Its true! I swear by this plant for healing. Half my face was ripped off in an accident and this plant healed my face like it almost never happened. I would NEVER have believed it if I didn't do it myself.
So good Morag, you make it easy to understand.I have made a balm using these instructions, of hemp & comfrey infused sweet almond oils, adding a couple drops frankinsence & lavender oils, using beeswax from my neighbour’s hive which still had honey in it, smell8ng delicious.I'm next making Calendula oil simply & plainly without any extra additives, for my daughter in law to use as nappy cream. Thank you so much, you are lovely. 🌼
I just now made your Calendula salve Morag, with just the ingredients you used, (I did infuse my dried Calendula flowers in sweet almond oil though) I'm so happy, it’s so nice! Some will go to my daughters for themselves & their children, & to my daughter in law, for herself & her baby. Thank you so much! 😊 💛🌼
Thank you soooooo much Morag. I grew Calendula this summer, but only because I found them beautiful. I had no idea how useful they were. And next year I will absolutly do this. Many, many thanks for sharing your knowledge.
Lovely video full of great info! I would personally not use fresh flowers as I feel they contain too much water for my purposes. I also dont use olive oil as it contains too much plant matter and can go rancid so easily. Seed oils have much less fleshy content. You can also use the “gelling” test to be sure you’ve got a good ratio of solids to oil by dropping a bit of the warm finished product onto a cold surface to be sure it will set up properly.

So thank you. I have been learning about herbalism and plant uses for a long time. Cold infusion, I will now look into deeper. I didn't think "wet" plant material could go into oils, assuming it would spoil.
hello, i'm going to be making this in a bit using hemp oil instead of coconut oil also plan on adding maybe a tbsp of cottonwood bud oil that i have infused. I grew Calendula this summer specifically to make myself face salve so was happy to find this I might also add that tsp of shea butter since I want it a bit softer and i don't have cocoa butter . If it goes well i'll be back to let you know.
Hi Morag, I love the idea of trying to make this. can I ask where to get your little tins from that you put the balm you make in? Also, what are your thoughts on using a dehydrator to dry the flowers first to make sure there in no moisture in them at all?
This is an excellent salve. I use it on mpartner and i, horses dogs and cat. But one question, how do you stop the sink holes in the middle when it is cooling? I find this happens all the time. I do add essential oils in mine too. Could this be the problem?

Great video! I’ve been following you for quite some time but have not seen this video yet. I’m going to make some salve today with plantain oil I made😊🌱 have a great day and God bless!
If I have quite a bit of calendula oil, say a quart, could I make that quantity all at once with the ratio that you gave of coconut oil and beeswax? I am selling some of this at market and using some as Christmas gifts so I’m just wondering if I could make the big batch all at once or if I need to make a smaller batches
I'm using a plastic jar right now don't have a glass jar. I was thinking about using hemp oil, shea butter, Coconut oil to make my salve. I actually have my flowers soaking in olive oil in the sun on my window sill. Is these great ideas?
I'm here to find how to use calendulas for a oil and salve ..yea its eatable? So the liquid extract on line I can take orally ? and make in oil ...haha good coconut oil I have I'm doing this because I have come across a couple videos that are suggesting the next pan dem ic is the Hemophiliac ...e b o y l a and this is to be on hand to use as a salve
I'm very curious. I really want to grow calendula. But how do i know what seeds to buy. The last ones I bought were marrigold seeds which don't look like calendula seeds I've seen before. Some people said they were the same thing. Are they healing properties the same or are they two different plants.
Yes, they are different plants. This one refers to Calenula officinalis. The other marigold often used in gardens is Tagetes spp. Both have beneficial properties, but different
If you like to experiment, you can make small batches in the microwave on half power. Use a Pyrex custard cup and do it half power in 20 second increments. Stir with a chopstick in between. Then pour in an old jar.
Are there written instructions somewhere? I want to share with someone who does not use the computer. Thanks for wonderful videos. I'm a follower of your blog as well.
Pretty sure bees wax IS 'vegan'. Bees produce the wax but it's not exact FROM them. You're not using bee parts. Only the nectar they collect from flowers. And they collect waaaaaaay too much for themselves. That's why we can take what we do.
I infused calendula flowers with grapeseed oil on aug 29 and strained it on Oct 7th 2020 my oil is a very nice shade of orange but I haven't seen anyone else's oil this color have I did something wrong?
Hi Morag :) I have a question for you- What can I do with Salve I attempted to make but added far too much Beeswax? Because now its so solid and stiff that it's very difficult to scrap a tiny amount onto my finger to put on my skin. Great recipe thank you very much, I know what I will be making this for myself my family and friends.
gently remelt it and add some more oil - either coconut or calendula. When it sets it should be much smoother. You could also add a bit more of the cacao butter too.
Thank you so much for your response Morag- I will use your suggestions to improve my salve. My biggest mistake was getting the recipe online from an American blog as they have different measurements in cooking.
Thanks for some awesome videos! If I wanted to just use Calendula Essential Oil, can you recommend a carrier oil to sub for the infused oil? I plan to plant calendula next year and try your recipe, then. In the meantime, I'll make your salve with the EO. Thanks so much!
Great video, Morag! I'm curious: is the coconut oil an essential ingredient? In other words, would a salve made up of 3/4 cup infused oil + 1/4 cup wax give good results? I imagine the coconut oil contributes to the texture.
I believe the coconut oil is needed, if not using coconut oil, another type of oil in its place would be needed. Beeswax and olive oil would probably be too thick and sticky and may not even meld together properly without the coconut oil. Just my thoughts.
Yes, you could simplify even further to these 2 ingredients. I add the coconut oil into this mix for its the texture, smell but mainly the antibacterial and antifungal properties it adds. If you prefer not to use it, you can still make a great salve with great consistency.
I can't believe I'd forgotten about coconut oil's amazing properties! Given the specific healing purposes of this calendula salve, using it makes perfect sense, but I'll make a note that it's not an essential ingredient in salve-making. Thank you!
don't be sorry and say not that I'm encouraging u to eat it, stuff em these corrupt authorities are running roughshod over just people like yourself cheers so much my friends at Rare Earth Oils make something similar

Hello. I have Calendula roots in the fridge. Do you know if I can use roots to make a tincture or tea? Thank you.
morning Morag... just wondering where you buy the metal containers for the lip balm please....I am in northern NSW....
Just google for a local supplier. There's a lot of places - and lots of sizes
I wonder what you could use in place of the beeswax....
Is there anything I can do with the flowers after they are strained? Other than putting in the compost pile please?

Can I add castor oil I stead of coconut oil?
Can the calendula oil be used on its own for skin healing? And wouldn’t it be better because it’s more concentrated?
Sure thing.
