The interesting thing is that they don't actually know all of these words off by heart in their heads (but they obviously know some and a great many), they study global phonology and inter-lingual relationships to learn how different people spell different sounds. That's why they ask the definition and language of origin and alternate pronunciations ... it helps them decide which avenue of phonetic influence to go down when forming an unfamiliar sounding word into a correct spelling. It's very impressive.

Spelling right has become unnecessary in today’s world. Waste of time and energy for these kids. Parents are to blame. That’s why you’ll see only immigrant kids are into this

Arif Rahman, there are many non-immigrant kids participate in this competition as well, the difference is they don't win. Just want the whole competition, instead of watching the final 2.

    • @wacky9075

      Arif Rahman
      As expected from a Muslim.
Just watch the entire competition & see how many non-immigrant kids have participated before commenting garbage here.
This competition is way too competitive for kid's brain which in turn develops their brain very fast & very uniquely than other avg. learners. The mind which is primarily focused to learn & grow which can be used in many productive ways.
It's one way to train young brains, which takes hours & hours to practice.
The Muslim community is far more interested in teaching Religious studies to their kids.
The vast majority of Muslims parents are committed to making their kids spend lot of time in Islamic studies. They won't allow their kids to spend time on competitions like this & others & sacrifice time for Madarsa & Islamic studies because I have seen this.
"Your Life Goes Wherever Your Attention Goes"
For people like you, it is beyond your comprehension.
Filling kids' brains with only Quran from childhood & teaching them to evaluate world & other people based on religion is the only thing you Muslim are great at & the whole world knows how multicultural, open minded & liberal your community is & yes also a PEACEFUL........
