  • This is a two day overnight shake-down stealth camp adventure explaining what works for me on a recumbent trike, and possibly providing valuable insight for other recumbent trikers. Share your thoughts in the comments. Any suggestions are always useful to ponder for all of us. Thanks for watching!

Thanks for all the suggestions! That is great remote territory for trike exploring, no worry about traffic or people. Triking on dirt roads like this is relaxing, sometimes tough physically, but mentally relaxing for sure, just you and the natural world. That Marmot tent is really nice, makes star gazing easy on warmer dry nights. The red light option your headlamp is a good idea to remain totally stealth if someone is near the camp.

Do you run into goathead thorns?

No, no goathead thorns in that specific area.
I do watch out for them though.
If you know what they look like, they're pretty easy to spot.
Google goathead thorns to see what they look like.
I also run Marathon PLUS tires on my trike.
They have a sure-gaurd blue inner rubber built in to the tires.
Oddly enough though, I once got a slow leak from riding through them once.
I was scratching my head on how I got a slow puncture in my Marathon PLUS tires.
It was sorta on the sidewall of the tire.
Those goathead thorns usually grow on the side of the road and out on sidewalks Oddly enough.

I hate those things, having run over thousands of them over the years. My Schwalbe Marathon PLUS tires have never gone flat from them, but my Schwalbe Jumbo Jim tires on my Full Fat off-road trike flattened within minutes from goathead contact (I got four flats from them in two days in the Mojave Desert, ugh). They sometimes like to hide under fall leaves that have piled high on sidewalks and paved areas ... run over them not even knowing they are lurking beneath the beautiful leaves.

@@taeramckenna6722 With Schwalbe Marathon PLUS tires, even goatheads are powerless to cause flats (my experience so far that is, 14 years, but now Murphy's Law might kick into effect since I said that, haha! 😂steve
