Great video - saw you were there on Insta and was looking forward to this one! This is my local railway, I've moved a bit further away but lived in Minehead and on the WSR's doorstep for many years. The small tower by Dunster Castle is called Conygar Tower, btw - built by the family that lived at the main castle - and was a gift by Francis Luttrell to his wife...! Great series of videos of your Westcountry exploits - thanks for sharing and hope you enjoyed your stay down here. :)
I did the West Somerset Railway on a trip from Devonshire. Seaton to Minehead took half an hour and the train journey took the rest of the day, getting on and off the trains. It was the steam gala day when I went!!
I drive from Seaton to Taunton regularly. Usually takes me 40 min or so and Minehead is a good 30 min plus from Taunton. You must have been motoring to do the whole journey in 30 min!! !!
That shunter looked like an 03 to me, but I'm no expert on diesel, I'm a steam guy and mainly LMS. Nice to get to have a look around with you. Cheers from Australia.
The diesel loco at Minehead is a 03 which were built by Swindon, I might be wrong but the 94xx class were built by BR so GWR green would be wrong! The Manor looked and sounded very smart.
Did you get to see the model railway of what Watchet looked like when it was the terminus station? They have a good model of it in OO 👍🏻 The Taunton model railway club has their layout at Bishops Lydard too. The WSR was the first UK heritage railway I went to, and I fell totally in love with it. Was awesome hearing of the work they did on the King last year and the rebuilding of a prairie tank to a mogul 😎 Good seeing you enjoyed it :) Thomas
Hi Tris. Guess where we are today ,we are also going on the West Somerset railway , and we were in Lynmouth yesterday must of missed you by a couple of hours. Some nice shots . Can't wait to see for my self.
Did you know that the speed limit on a heritage railway is 25 miles per hour, while the same locomotive on a main line steam special is 90 miles per hour!!
Very enjoyable. The Manor class has a great bark to it for sure. They have a nice uncluttered look. 😊
I’m glad you liked it I really enjoyed how the manor sounded too 😊
