    The 'All is Well' reference is about the Stones (Black P Stones gang that he mentioned). In Chicago, the Stones and also the Vicelords (another gang) use the phrase "All is well" not only as a greeting but as a way to identify themselves distinct from other gangs.

    Robert Glasper is a jazz pianist, who along with Karriem Riggins (drummer) have been doing all of Common's production for a few albums, including a group album they did together called August Greene. All of which has been amazing, they do almost entirely live, written instrumentation as opposed to sampling. Fantastic stuff.

    Pay attention to what he does @ 7:33 right there he starts double-rhyming, that's elite emceeing right there, a skill not many people can pull off.

    • @professorXcross
      @professorXcross 2 ปีที่แล้ว +23

      I think having two different rhyme patterns within a scheme isn't the most difficult. A lot of fast rappers utilize this skill and end up rhyming over 3 different rhymes within a stanza. But what makes Common so CRISPY is his lack of FILLERS. He's actually saying something throughout each bar and that's what I can really appreciate about the legend.

    • @ryanstills9695

It is nice to see and hear something that appreciates women, along with the greatness with we can accomplish. Oros of Alexandria was a lexicographer and grammatical teacher. This was a "Masterclass" on how to be a top tier MC. I believe there is a difference between rappers and MCs. MCs can and will challenge themselves to rap about any plight, suffering, or trying to educate and uplift their people and the world! However most rappers will and can only rap about money, liquor, nonsense, negativity, poverty, killing each other, misogyny and negativity! Rappers are limited as to the content of their lyrics! Common is my brother from Chicago and he always displays great MC skills on the MIC! My brother's you guys do a great job of breaking down and analyzing lyrics and songs!!
