Coast is quickly becoming one of the greatest Hip Hop groups in our culture. They amaze me.
I'm almost 50 and have been a hiphop head all my life and I'm already ready to put them in my top 10 all time. Give them 5 solid years and who knows?

They got a lot to prove with the music to me but HONESTLY when it comes to skill….they number 1 over every rap group in my opinion, and I’m a super hip hop head as well. These young men are DIFFERENT!!

I'm a hip-hop DJ and audio engineer/producer from New York since 1984.
Their skillset and styles are layered greater and deeper than you imagine!
They are really "showing their chops," as musicians say.(flexing)
Because...
not only what they're saying is woven together so skillfully, full of layered double on-tondra's.
Their lyrics sometimes referenced each other. Sometimes, their lyrics reference and honor their rap influences.
But what's even more impressive is, the cadences they're using are peppered with the feel, flow, style and heart, that the original artists used in creating the song.
They move and play strategically with words and the original cadence of a song in their music. Uniquely paying omage to the original artists and music.

Funny how much people hate on Rio saying he is the weakest link but dude be truly spitting in Spanish. I’m Dominican and feel his every bar. Glad to see someone truly representing our culture like he does.

Yea it is simply that they don't understand the language, but funny thing is that I am not Hispanic or a part of that culture, but I can feel the impact that his lyrics still have regardless even if you don't get the cultural references because ethe culture expands just black culture or American references. Like I don't think so many understand how hard it is to rap in another language effectively with different flows and cadences and then switch to another language and do that same.
What I think is unique about him is that most foreign spitting rappers go for rhyming the lyrical english translations of the words they choose and that doesn’t typically sound that inviting in the language they spitting it in but he actually is doing the opposite. His english translations, albeit definitely saying something according to the sub captions, aren’t rhyming, it’s his syllables from his language that is! So from the layman’s ear, IT SOUNDS DOPE wether you understand the translations or not! Now tell me, HOW HARD IS THAT SHIT! 🤔🔥🔥🙌🏽🙌🏽

He is the weakest link . I'm a native spanish speark, and even his spanish rapping skills are terribly wack . His "thing" is to be fluig in both languages, but he is the worst of the group BY FAR . Whatever you say doesnt matter

I'm a lit major and this is absolute facts. They are up there as poets. What's insane is they also use traditional rhyming schemes that writes like john etal use which gives their work even deeper meanings.

The way Eric came in on Ras' verse to say the first line of the rap of theirs that popped off while Ras was talking about the effect of poppin off is so creative and reflective and it really shows how much they've got each other's back for Ras to acknowledge it was Eric's verse that went viral while Eric is also comfortable taking that place in Ras' verse about chasing validation and rewards, while also explaining why they took 6 months off which is how Eric started this whole song.
But also "y'all blade cut success" like cutting/diluting drugs mixing it with poison or empty filler.
The grit and pain in all of rio's verses are so real. And how he switches from 2 langauges is unmatched. Its not said enough

The heal tomorrow bar relates to the line before, it's a Spanish saying people say to kids when the hurt themselves: "if you don't heal today, you'll heal tomorrow"
My hunch is that they been teaching each other. Eric was always the most animated and got the most timbres, but now everybody is coming animated and bringing different flows and timbres, even Rio who seemed to be the quietest before, now he brought the punch in his verses too. They must be taking a lot of feedback and working on themselves, great stuff.
Yeah I completely agree. I think EJ also learns from the twins. The depth of their bars go over most people's understanding. At least half of what they spit is a triple and woven in WAY longer than most people pick up. These guys are literally genius level with the lyrics.
Great observation. Kinda the read I got on 'em, too. I have a hunch they are in super open conversation about the nitty-gritty of being legendary MCs behind the scenes. Having 4 insane MCs in the same room makes for a hell of a hiphop think tank.
I still wanna see a good-spirited battle between OCD and Coast. Both groups are insane. Coast is more technically proficient, but OCD has that same fire in 'em and are by no means slouches on the technical side.

I’m in my mid 30’s and have been CRYING OUT for something to break the current trends in hip-hop. This old school Wu-Tang/Tribe style group rap energy with truly exemplary bars and dynamic flows is what we’ve been needing for too long. The deepest breath of the freshest air 🔥

@@alaniasdruid8616 Why do so many people STILL not understand that not all freestyles are off the dome. A pre-written freestyle is a thing. Saying this is "not a real freestyle" is meaningless. There are probably like 20 rappers in the world that could freestyle off the top and actually put together a good song. 90% of the time a freestyle is prewritten, it's widely accepted to be prewritten. So frustrating to see people who clearly think they're some hip-hop head have zero clue about this.

@@harryb9390 Facts!!! I'm glad you said it, because I've had so many people try to argue with me when I tell them what the original definition of "Freestyle Rap" is. A simple Google search will confirm that there's 2 different types off freestyles, "Free of style" and "Off the top", but for some reason most people won't accept the facts. Lol
@@harryb9390 Thank you for saying that! That's something that's been bugging me as well, seeing it all over different comment threads. So much so that I ended up researching the actual meaning of a 'rap freestyle' and after some research realizing that there is no real consensus and the definition has been steadily changing with time.
Unfortunately this means that we'll keep on bugging in the future and our blood will boil when reading comments under any of their future freestyles.
It is what it is I guess, but it feels better to know somebody out there shares my viewpoint. Thanks brother!

Rio is very underrated. This is probably the first time a lot of people got what he was saying because this is the first time his subtitles were in ENGLISH. He has great future potential to take over Reggaeton markets.

This was a very thorough and enjoyable reaction! Also, they do have an album by the name of Apt 505 which was released earlier this year. Perhaps you brother's would be interested in checking it out track by track. They also have made individual tracks, which you can find on their YT channel. They've been solid for YEARS! They're just now getting more exposure ever since the Never Freestyle where Eric's verses garnered recognition on a larger scale for the collective.

These Supa Emcees in the spirit of Hip Hop feed off of each other's levels of dopeness. Many times whoever has the last verse goes off the most. That may be why Eric is moved around on each freestyle. But they have all had first verse, they are students of the emcee element and it shows. They take their talents seriously, their pen game is next level and we should feel blessed that we get to experience artist on this level in today's climate of hip hop!

If they keep putting music out I feel like them not blowing up is just impossible. There's so much to admire about their approach to music, performance, just BEING an emcee that everyone's bound to be impressed by something. It's wild that they keep getting better, too. They could coast (heh) skill-wise where they're at for the rest of their career and be better than most, but they just keep pushing. It's crazy.

Ras started off using the spoken word style of rapping which gives a slick reference to Freestyle Fellowship. True students of the craft. All these dudes have studied the archives of rap styles. Eric Jamal utilized Pharoah Minch, Kool Keith & others. Just dope.

I'm a person that says, something is only a gimmick if you call it a gimmick. Too many times people discourage creativity by saying something is a gimmick. Changing voices, emulating objects, etc while rapping is very creativity. I love it.

Eric has always been crazy, but the growth and evolution of Ras is crazier. We have literally seen man turn into god in him.
As far as the traction around them breaking up, a lot of people have been saying Eric should go solo, or saying Rio cant hang with the group. They already said that would never happen, but newer people who just found Coast go on their page and see the solo songs they did and try to use it as "proof".
