52 this year, and my bottom game got better, cant believe I'M still viewing your video. I just finish using this technique last Sunday open mat. Guys are happy I let em take the top position, but little they know how to work the top position and I wont give em advices for smashing me, I just proceed with your move. I labeled it: head on the chopping block submission. Works wonders. NEW: did you know, its possible to double cross collar gi choke the top guy ? I managed pull off subs this way.
Wow this is great stuff! Looking forward to trying this because I get stuck here a lot but I like your perspective that there are no bad positions. Well, maybe there are worse positions but I like the optimism and the techniques from what are often hopeless feeling situations
I may be a total newb, but also found a certain comfort in bottom side control and I seem to defend pretty well. These techniques give me a ton of insight, I can’t wait to give these concepts a try! Thanks, Professor🤙
I got this triangle today during free roll. I watched this video a while ago, but the teqnique stuck with me, and I pulled it out of nowhere on a guy today. Amazing vids, one of my favorite online resources!
Played with this last night at grappling class #mandrillmartialarts. The bottom control is amazing, very tight. My main problem was after I cross my ankles under their arm, they put their head down heavy on my chest/stomach to avoid the leg coming over for the triangle, then go to knee on belly and I lose the whole position. Any pointers on how to tighten this up? I luv the technique, def want to make it work in real life rolls.
Very good instructional Video, thank you for making great instructional material, it helps everyone in learning new things and become better. Thank you.
I'm really going to start playing around with this stuff. At 4:09 I also see an arm bar opportunity if you don't want to triangle since you have essentially recovered guard without the top guy realizing it.
I get the left leg with wrist control a lot. I lose it often. I've never tried getting the right leg in to hook as well. This might be the key I've been missing. I'll check back in after Friday and I give it a shot.
Put myself in side all weekend. Some cases I forgot to check the hip and they stepped over my head. Some people I actually swept then when I put my second foot on their arm. And a few people got out with really slippery sweaty arms.
How tall are you? I am 6'2" with limbs slightly longer than one might predict and I feel like my legs are either too long or i'm not flexible enough to quickly pull that left leg out of the space created by the opponents right arm to wrap it around the left side of his neck. Generally, this has always been my problem attacking triangles with opponents even though in theory this should be my go to move. I get my feet caught on something all the time when I try to make my move which slows me down enough for my opponent to counter my legs or apply a defense
I tend to give up side control to most of my partners. I just "enjoy" the position ( unless they get out to knee on belly and kick my butt for the whole round of course ). I trap the arm as you show or else end up with the arm trapped by both my legs. I notice you say "shrimp towards" at around 2:54 when you actually shrimp away. I have had no luck with getting both legs on the arm but I need to work on my hip mobility. I also find it hard to get the feet out once they are in. Practice needed I guess. I have landed kimura sweeps and cutting armbars from here and had success with higher belts than me ( I am blue ). Definitely working towards getting the better hip mobility needed to really become deadly from here.
@bbjafter40 the roll out of the lapel choke, not sure if I am missing a detail, but wouldn't you be rolling directly into the choke if someone has a tight grip. Seems rather dangerous if someone plays a loop choke or bow/arrow game? Really nice detail and nice strategy allow for more options. Great video.
I thought that too, what I noticed is that the over arm is NOT on the collar yet (otherwise, yes, you will get choked) and the under arm is grabbing the bottom of the collar, and because that's the way your rolling to, it will not cause the choke, rather get you out of it since you rolling towards the outside of the choke.

This is brilliant. I am a 63 year old Purple belt and this really helps.
This guy always has great stuff!
50 here. I've been using this since 2020, works like a charm even against upperbelts.
Profe long time I don't see you, thank you!
Dude you are so thin and so flexible. I love the techniques but it’s amazing how easy it is for you to thread your knee in on the non-undertook side!

Thanks, Professor🤙
Your partners aren’t being heavy enough on you then ;) SC done right is THE WORST.
@@Slamminbassplayer I’ve had some really hard pressure on me. Totally not the worst.
Slick set ups 🤙

Great tips man. I've been getting wrecked recently. I'll be practicing this, thanks!
This is just amazing! Thank you very much !

Your videos are really helpful. I'm playing bottom position a lot and this is the key i need.

Excellent instruction
Amazing as always
I’m always getting stuck on bottom, sometimes with the bigger guys, how or what variations do you do for the bigger boys. Thank you.

wow I like this.
Where can I meet you ! I want to learn from you! You bjj is amazing
I wonder if theres a no gi version?
Oddest question you will have. What type of gel or hair product do you use when rolling to slick your hair back?
I put the braids in when my hair is wet. Right after a shower abs hair wash. Not that odd of a question
Excelente !!
When you say "normal-sized" guys, are you using the Brazilian definition? I wonder because I'm from Texas and "normal-sized" here is easily +250lbs...
Monkiko nothing normal in texas
So technical
🙏🏼👊🏼
Damn...!!
Tried this today, couldn't push the guys arm like he does at 2:30 as the opponent was too strong. Any ideas?
I guess you don't need to push the arm that much, as long as you can shrimp and make enough space to get your knee in.
Woe this some deep shit
OSS
what if they attack the Kimura instead of the americana.
Happened to me the first time I tried this technique - Kimura city. Doh!
He covers the kimura. Link your hands behind your back. Then when he goes to mount exit through the back door.
He went over that about 9:50 minutes in.
Oss...
i see a Philippine flag in the wall
