Love my 3 gallon metal pesticide applicator. It looks like an old fire extinguisher with a pump handle. Put it by the fire and heats up to ridiculously hot temperatures in a very short period of time. Cheap, effective, and takes up a little space and weighs very little empty
I have one of these myself and I too like it because of being able to conserve water while bathing outdoors is a big plus. I did have the electric model BUT returned it because heating element went bad so I got the non-heated version which I think is better for the same reasons you stated since it took so long to heat up as well as using up battery power to heat up. I do wish there was some type of an on/off button along with the valve on the hose so you don't have to keep the pump running. That way when you get the valve in a flow position that you wanted you can simply press the water flow button when you needed it. This would also help you stretch your water during your shower... All in all I would definitely purchase the Geyser shower system again in order to have a hot "shower". Thanks for taking the time to put these videos out Jason! Sorry I missed your Patreon Summer camp event!
I love this pump. I’ve used solar bag, wet wipes(Soo bad for enviro. I wish people would quit promoting) & garden sprayer. THIS is so much better. An investment but worthy. I also have non warming due to time/wattage. I have Stanley Camp Crock(3 qt). In morn while making coffee/breakfast I boil extra water & seal in Crock. It stays hot up to 18 hrs. End of day-use in shower without having to heat more water. Saves time, waters hot, waters sanitary so can use for dishes, etc. Perfect. I do not use to wash my shoulder length hair(female). Water is too precious for that. I’m full time in a Subaru Crosstrek with rack on top & back. My only concern to mention is I’m 60. This thing can be heavy. It also takes up more weight in a small SUV. But, concessions have to be made for this life & this is a luxury I truly appreciate. Thank you for review & appropriate shots of it in use. Be Safe
I found this review helpful b/c you actually used the equipment and gave an honest assessment of how it worked. I am in the market for a way to get a hot shower while truck camping and the options are limited in my price range and what you do find, you can't get a feel for it from the Amazon reviews.
Jason, an option for working with any vacuum you get against your lid would be to just drill a hole in the lid and thread a stainless 1/4-20 screw with an o-ring and a washer. Use a dremel and a cutoff wheel to cut a groove in on one side of the screw but not all the way to the washer/oring seal. This setup will allow you to screw it down to seal as needed, but also back it out so that the groove is exposed to allow air to pass through to eliminate the vacuum.
For years I just used a 5 gallon bucket with a rag. Add some hot water boiled in a pan over the camp fire or stove to warm it up. You could go with Four or five 2 liter pop bottles if you need cheap as possible. Just poke some holes in an extra cap and you have a solar heated squeeze bottle with a shower head. Total cost: 5 bucks at the dollar store if you buy them full of pop. Works for long hair too. No problems. Maybe once my little YT channel gets monetized and I have more sponsors I can afford something more impressive like what you have. I always enjoy your videos. Thanks for sharing.
That does look like a nice easy way for a shower. I"d go for the standard model as well. I love to see them add a sprayer attachment for rinsing off instead of the sponge which is great for washing. Especially for washing hair.
Living full time on the road with a home made pvc solar hot water heater. It makes my ctc a little top heavy. Putting this on my "Need" list. Way wicked cool.
I am in Asheville, NC, and we will be out of water for weeks, if not months after Hurricane Helene. Just ordered a Geyser based on your review, thanks!
Picked up a used return from REI last week and saved over $100. Gonna test run today and take it on a 2 night camping excursion this weekend. Great review.
Great demonstration, as always. I also have this system, but have yet to try it. I like the size. Much more compact than a 2 gallon pump sprayer. It fits nicely in the water heater closet of my Sportsmobile. I removed the water heater because it requires shore power and we typically boondock. Thanks Jason!
You just gave me the idea to add a schrader valve to a weed sprayer when you said a 1 way chuck. Cheap shower system. Seems like a few people have already done this so i got some tutorials to work with. Cheers!
Great review! I love that you provide details but in a pragmatic and accessible way, rather than an overly-technical dry way. The shower looks great! Perfect for when a 24 hour gym isn’t nearby. Supporting local businesses is important. People forget that cheap imports support exploitation of employees in poorer countries.
Jason, we love your Pros, Cons and final thoughts on all your reviews. They really make sense. One additional item that might help us, is storage. How/ where do you store it. It looks bulky with several feet of cables and hoses. Best practices. Thanks again, Skillet
Interesting new gear! The Geyser people obviously understand showering in the wilderness. Love how easy the flow rate is to adjust. Thanks for doing a review.
Well received mine today after a hot day working on the power lines, I though it would be a good test. Stripped down in the garage, it was 86 degrees out! water was on the verge of being cold. Also, the flow valve was leaking. I thought they took care of that problem, but I guess not. Ran out of water before I was Done. Sending it back to Amazon tonight. I will keep using my boss heater and use a small sprayer if I want a water saving shower, but I will be able to increase the temperature at least.
I love it for the portability. Put it in the truck with rooftop tent. Back of the Hiker trailer. In the car for tent camping. I'm in AZ and water is very hard to find in the back country, this saves a ton of water. I do have the unit with built in heat, I've used the heater once, took about 15 minuets to get up to speed, most times I use the Jet Boil. I can not stress how much a game changer this thing is, I was amazed first time I used it. You feel clean and you did not make a huge muddy mess at your camp site. I put mine in a cheap Harbor Freight 4800 case with all the essentials. Small Jackery and 5 gallon can from Lowes the Scepter food grade plastic. That's a week of clean camping (human wise). I know some folks use it to wash their dishes at camp, they sell a special sponge just for that purpose. I found mine at overland west with the Crew from Geyser at the demo tent.
Geyser is missing a huge opportunity. The biggest deal isn't their pump/reservoir, it's the sponge. In regular vans/truck campers/other camper showers, a hookup to replace a shower head with one of these would save a TON of water when boondocking. I'd love to see Geyser expand the system with more accessories too like a small spray nozzle. Then you could skip wasting water rinsing the sponge and just rinse directly.
I did this with my RoadShower and a pressure reducer with the Geyser sponges and hose. Worked great. I asked them to buy one of their proprietary connectors, but basically told me not to do what I wanted to do. So I did it anyway with other parts and their sponges. 😜
I've been using the rinse kit system which holds up to two gallons. I fill it with about a gallon of preheated water. I actually used the rinse kit today to take a shower at home this morning. Our house water runs off of a well and our pump went down.
Great review!!! Thank you. I am on the fence on this geyser system.. The price for me is a big factor. I too use a harbor freight 2 gallon sprayer that I use for showers.. I can definitely see the pros and cons. Thanks for all you do!
A nice but rather elaborate system. I just use a 5V USB rechargable battery powered shower combined with a stainless steel jerrycan. The jerrycan can be filled with a kettle or placed directly over a stove or alonside a campfire. Jerrycan also useable as a general water storage too. I also use a couple 25mm thick waffle recovery boards for my shower base combined with a Quick Pitch Shower System. Great setup :-) Otherwise, love your content.x
I like the idea of the sponge and low flow valve for RV boondocking. Camping wise (tent) I don't see enough benefit to justify $320 over a bucket and sponge/wash cloth. I use either a solar bag or submersible pump each less than $20. It's pretty cool though otherwise. Also, haven't seen anything about the Ah or Wh draw say per minute which is good to know.
Jason, could we have a 2 year "durability" update on this geyser model when you have a sec? I've had my eye on these and it seems like there have been some bugs being addressed...especially with the heated edition. Thank you.
Hmmm... a 1 gallon garden pump sprayer DIY'd with some insulation and a cheap kitchen sink sprayer would probably be more economical. Probably about the same footprint too. Cool review though.
Great review! Im asking this seriously... Couldn't you get a similar result with a two bucket/bowl system amd a couple sponges? Just warm some water (like the non heated geyser system requies) and lather up. Then rinse with the clean second bucket. I feel like you could do this with about a gallon of water and maybe $10 in supplies? Just not convinced the pump is that necessary....again, not trying to say anything bad about this system just trying to think practically. Appreciate any feedback.
Seems like the version with the electric heater would do the best at getting the water as hot as possible without tripping the hot shut off. And if you added stove-heated water to the heater version, it would neither take much time nor use as much DC power to get it ready for a shower. Right?
So, is there anything in this product that can't be replicated with a cheap submersible pump and a 2 gallon bucket? & maybe some vinyl tubing and a flow valve? Because this is a solid idea but the price point is a bit beyond me.
I didn’t read through al the comments so hopefully not a redundant question, is the sponge thingy the only way to get showered on this device, or is there a standard shower type nozzle available? I’m assuming the sponge thing helps stretch the water?
@@PrimalOutdoors I just watched their promo video, just like you mentioned unplug the sponge and spray away… been using Nemo foot pump style showers for years just looking to better less footwork related shower set ups for our new van build….

Great idea Courtney👍

yep the geyser is legit! just took my first geyser whoever at expo mountain west and fell in love!

This looks like a good, well designed system.
It seems especially well suited to the van life.

If you could buy it again would you just go for the non heated version? I'm on the fence on which to buy
My opinion get the non heated version. Its cheaper and boiling water is faster.

Hi. Forgot, mine (non heated) was $190 sale REI. Came with 2 sponges & coupon in pkg if I reviewed for another sponge. (2021)
Hey Jason, your friends have been meaning to tell you about that shower system. LOL, Ha, just joking, it looks like a good system.
I am surprised the company never incorporated an anti vacuum valve into the lid. They are cheap and very effective

Some apple cider vinegar and soap on wet wipes will get you very clean. Maybe use this to rinse off.
with a folding doggie pool do you think this could be done inside the Van in Winter?
I have actually heard of people doing that. If you can stand in your van I think it would be a viable option.
