No. There is boiled linseed oil on the market that is used for treating wood and it's toxic and not food-grade. If you're looking for food grade, don't go with boiled linseed oil.
The pebble put in the pipe at the end is to clog the bamboo ,so when you put the weed in, it won't fall thru into the water.
