    I’m currently making this oval rug using blanket yarn. I’m doing HDC instead of DC. I’m so thankful for the “ends” formula. That and your idea of stitch markers for middle rectangle makes it foolproof! THANK YOU!
    For anyone interested, I’m using the Bernat blanket yarn and an L or 8mm hook. I first tried it in the DC but didn’t care for it. Stitches too loose and open. The HDC makes a much more dense and sturdy rug. Would love to try the sheet yarn some day. Thanks again.

    Nice. I have done a few crochet and toothbrush rugs. single crochet makes a stiffer rug. Kind of wing the increases. Would the increase formula be the same for SC?

    • @naztazia
      @naztazia  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hello! Sort of with SC. You'd have to start off with just 3 SC on each side instead of the 6 DC. After that the increases are the same 2 in each... followed by 2, 1 in each... followed by 2, 1, 1 etc.

    • @katevonkorff4150
      @katevonkorff4150 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks much! I have done two of your hook cases so far, one for myself and one for a friend. Big hit. Instead of slip stitch for final border I do crab stitch. Love your channel. Your solid granny square pattern made a nice t shirt yarn shower mat. Everything I have tried from your channel has been awesome. I am a visual learner and love all of you crafters who take the time to do these videos. You are awesome.

    is there a way to do this so there aren't massive holes at each end where there are 6 stitches in 1?

    • @naztazia
      @naztazia  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      When you are finished with the rug, take a matching piece of fabric and make a stitch or two on the back side of the rug to close it up. Weave or knot the ends and you'll never notice the gap.

    I want to make an oval rug using the tons of random shapes and sizes of ribbons. Could this Tutorial work? Thank you.

    • @naztazia
      @naztazia  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I've only used my pattern on relatively consistent widths of fabric strips. However, in theory it should work with inconsistent widths too. I have made other things with inconsistent width yarn, and it does work. Although you might have some holes or gaps in areas when using the thinner ribbon. One thing you can do to minimize these thinner areas is determine what the majority of the ribbon used will end up being. Just say 1 inch. And then when you have 1/2 inch ribbon, maybe just use 2 strands of it held together to keep things more consistent.

    • @naztazia

      That would depend upon the thickness of the wool. Thin = scarves, thick = blankets.

    Don't the unfinished edges fray after a while- especially after washing and wear?

    • @naztazia
      @naztazia  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I've had a rug I made about 15 years ago that stayed outside of my shed (so my dogs could lay down on it when they went outside in the sun). Little bit faded by the sun, but no fraying or damage despite the hot sun, the blizzards, and the downpours we get with our 4 seasons.
