Some street artists make up to $200 a day doing this (and its all profit) they spit it with no one... or that and a lot of them are feeding a habit. trust me this guy gets offers. some actually play in bands and symphonies too and just love rocking out in the street. I lived in NYC for 10 years and asked a few of them and this was their stories basically.

One of my favorite things about being in NYC is coming across these type of random performances and there have been quite a few I’ve been fortunate enough to witness over the years
They didn't because they don't like to show black performers appreciation! If he was white, there'd be a crowd around him, and that Asian woman would be on the phone with her daughter, IMPLORING her to come down to that station, because she met a nice WHITE man for her!
