2001-02-02
The Vogue Theater
Vancouver, BC, CA
Like I said before probably the best Dramamine you'll watch/hear live.
First a little talk from Isaac Brock about being drunk at a show yelling at the band, doing coke with the bartenders, small talk. Enjoy.

I love this album!!!!!! This song got me hoooked on M.M.!!
Honestly the best performance of Dramamine ever
Truly the greatest band in the world on February 2nd, 2001
Nolan Brouillette still the greatest on March 30, 2020 :)
Greatest band in the world.
Same here. I listened to them the first time on the way home from skating at like 2 A.M. when i was like 13.. now 19 myself and they're all I've ever listened to.. besides Dystopia.
Woah now your 30
Goddamnit Isaac... you're so awesome it hurts.
Goddamn Eric Judy pounding out that sexy bassline. Dramamine is one of the reasons I got into playing bass...and Float On.
Hopefully seeing them August 25th, hope they play this.
Best version/song/piece of epic epicness of Dramamine EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!
I was there. I have some videos of it. That was the best song of the night.
SUCH an interesting and beautiful blend of music.
Oh man, this really is the best live Dramamine! They way he bends those harmonics so perfectly is just incredible and sounds even better than the studio recording. Do NOT miss the last minute of this clip! Wow.
Not sure how I overlooked this one, but it's absolutely amazing.
LOVE the end where they switch to life like weeds
Modest Mouse has never sucked and NEVER WILL!!!
"Like I said before probably the best Dramamine you'll watch/hear live."

Love me some raw Mouse!
Fuck yes. THey played an extended version of Dramamine at the Palladium earlier this year too.
You usually can't tell whether a person is gay or not just by looking at them, but in this case, Isaac is not gay. He just has a lisp, which makes him so much more manly and straight.
Charming, lol
this is great
Back in 2000, my friend moved in with me. For some reason we downloaded everything with the word "Shit" in it off of KaZaA and, of course, Shit Luck was one of the songs. I researched the band and when I heard this song for the first time, my mind was completely blown.
This is one of my favorite songs of all time. I kind of wish he would get back on drugs so he could make more like this.
Isaac is a creature. One of a kind.
this is the sickest venue !
Yes I'm sure. I've done a lot of research to get the right date on this show because when I got it it was mislabled. But this is the right date. I've found multiple setlists that matched this one from that date.
That zoom on Jeremiah was at the perfect moment.
yeah
The last minute. Whoa.
@Skapunkfan1 hey, I just learned how to play this song. It's pretty easy. For the "main riff" He's playing 9 7 9/12 9 7 on G then move up to D 9 7 5/7 9 5. That's how it goes in the studio version but he's just playing a veriation of that hammering on and pulling on different notes and doing some trills too. Just mess around with it. And for some accurate tabs to help you out with that check out songsterr. hope that helps.
apply pressure to the tailend of the bridge; bends all the strings.
His guitars look like a Paul Reed Smith.
I think at 6:04 Brock yells "fuck" at his guitar. He yells something at it
@flyrocket19 Thanks!!!! Hey, kinda off topic but, what happened to the rest of The Variety Playhouse setlist? That's my favorite show and it killed me to not see it on there :^(
Thanks for the videos man.
But I've got a question for you. Where/how did you first start trading? I am really looking for early shows (95-99) but I only have a few shows myself (around 20). And they're certainly not very hard to find if you know where to look. I only found a few on some torrent sites, and a few more sites with modest mouse gigs, like Arcticsounds. Any help would be great dude, I really want to gather as many tapes as I can before it's too late.
Hey, you still here? Time really flies, huh.
Sure am
@@flyroket Nice. Nice.
Some lyrics from Life Like Weeds, but I think I heard a line about dancing that isn't in Life Like Weeds
Mouse Head 4 Life
good catch..u know this is live right??
..using a whammy of course
haha he throws the end of live like weeds on there? "you think you feel most everything, dont you know that our hearts are just made out of strings to be pulled" or something like that
i dont know, man. they put on a hell of a show at 2011 sasquatch.
What is he singing in the 3rd verse at 7:35?
Umm. *Maybe* the best version I've ever heard of Dramamine recorded by a microphonethat sounds like its packed in a bucket of wet sand. But then there are a lot of competitors.
Hey, does anyone know how to play this variation of the main riff for guitar?
Banter ends at 2:40
6:35
the guitar is made by some guy out of chicago?
I believe its a schecter
whats he using to bend? is he just bending the guitar body?
the guitar is pretty diffrent to the stuido one
@ramseyPT it says 2002
I don't think Isaac Brock has ever tuned a guitar in his life. And I wouldn't have any other hair.
yeah the site straight up says u may know us from modest mouse ba BAMB!
@xRA1D32x It's all on the G string o for the intro. it's 9--7--5.
he is STONED! anyone know what brand of guitar he plays?
Jackson in the early years usually
I have noticed this was commented 12 years ago
@@isak242 lol
if i was here i would go insane on some reallllll
what kind of question?
@ramseyPT its cuz he loves to cook
who's the 2nd guitar player in the black shirt?
@cheaptequila17 I'm sorry? Is something wrong with that?
@BLANKMINDSBAND IVE BEEN SAYING THAT EXACT SENTENCE FOR SO LONG XDD
yehhh.... your point is??
@RichardDeKing just has a lisp
@Kid4077 correct only way fucking cooler!
i can't figure out those damn harmonics >:/
I would like to ask you the same.
@BLANKMINDSBAND two people i would go gay for, isaac brock and paul mccartney (when he was younger of course)
it's a whicks or how ever u spell it but looks alot like a prs
Was Isaac talking to someone who screamed, "You suck!" at the beginning? I don't think I'd be that cool about it. I'm inspired.
yes, you can hear it at the end of part 1, trucker's atlas. i was there and remember the moment
I like how he changes the melody up a little bit. Maybe he's just coked out of his mind and fucked up. ...Doubt it.
ghetto likes to remove his comments so you can't reply to them. nice strategy, bro.
omg he was hot!
...fuck.
I kind of wish he would get back on drugs so he could make more music like this
Honestly guys. I'm a straight male. I have a girlfriend. But I would go gay for this guy right here... No lie.
No arguments please. everyone is intitled to opinion but when the profanity starts I disable comments.
live they don't do as good anymore
well like say Enrique Bunbury "tanto darle al bla bla tanto" let´s go to play gays! bla bla bla bla let´s go to play the song please
Around 03:05, how does he get does bends on the harmonics? Or what is he doing?
He uses the whammy bar to get them. Most people use the whammy bar in one direction --push the bar down--, but Isaac is one of that rare breed who uses whammy bar pull-ups to do the bends. 'Course, Isaac removes the bar, so when he pulls the tail piece up, it bends down, and when he pushes it down, it bends up. (see the performance on Jimmy Kimmel of "Float On" for an example of this.)
