      Track loaders are more of a regional thing now I think. In SE Wisconsin they’re sporadic, a company may have 1-2 but they’re more backup machines. Go down into Illinois and I mean just across the border and they’re everywhere. I really don’t care for them, a backhoe is faster and a wheeled loader is more versatile but I’ve seen a guy run a track loader and my argument of them being a thing of the past is heavily negated, damn that guy was good

    makes me wonder about creating some clamp on to the sides of the treads that could be installed fairly easily.. get a leaf spring manufacturer to create it out of spring steel so you have a few treads with big paddles to help get you out of Sticky situations like was shown in the video.

    @graham2631 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Get that out with explosives. No seriously, you put a stick under it and when it goes off full forward travel. It breaks the suction and a little "lift" and in that moment you can move. Years ago a old cat skinner showed me that dammed if it didn't work. 5min safety fuse it's a long wait tho. Good times.....same tool you use to get a bent axle moving out of one takes all the windows out of the shop. Good times....
    Welcome to the west coast of BC

  • @mceajc
    @mceajc 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    I wonder if there are unditching attachments that would be useful in situations like this. Like the logs used to unstick tanks by lashing them to the tracks?

    • @rickdees251
      @rickdees251 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      That log idea would work if the can be attached or two or three wide enough eye beams brought to the site when needed . Possibly a way to attach that chain or cables to a few trees and one or both of the tracks. My motto is "There is always a way". Evident in and proven by the Pyramids existing! The trick is finding the easiest solution that works and believing in the motto even when your at a loss at the moment. Don't give up thinking because your stumped.

  • @mjethier

    dudes got no treads, its like racing slicks on a loader

    • @dplant8961
      @dplant8961 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi, Folks.
      Armchair commentator strikes again. Track loader do NOT normally have tall grousers like a dozer as that would chew up the ground too much with all the constant sharp turning while loading trucks. Instead, they normally have two or sometimes three much shorter grousers per track plate as per this video of a NEW machine.

    • @jlbush8249
      @jlbush8249 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@dplant8961 I’m sure the point he was making, regardless of the purpose of the slick tracks, is only a dumbass would take those slick tracks into something like that.

    • @dplant8961
      @dplant8961 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi, @@jlbush8249 .
      I'm not going to try to read his mind and guess what his point might have been. I was simply stating that most track loaders do not have taller grousers like a dozer, which is literally what his comment referred to.
      You can sometimes see dozer style grousers on a track loader in the timber industry or some other specialty application but not in normal track loader usage.
      IF I had HAD to take that machine anywhere near that situation, I would have gone in face first 'cos that would have kept the engine uphill which would have improved traction and I could have used the bucket to help get myself out if needed. It is amazing just what those Cat hydrostatic track loaders can get themselves out of if the engine is facing towards firm ground.
      BUTTTT, I would have needed a REALLY GOOD reason to go anywhere near it.
      Also, and to put not too fine a point on it, it would not be anyone's 'smartest ever decision' to take ANY machine into that mess
      Just my 0.02.
      You have a wonderful day. Best wishes. Deas Plant.

    • @ferguson20diesel49
      @ferguson20diesel49 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah there is. Triple bar grouser pads with one extra high rib. Single bar grouser pads. Or apex pads or curved apex pads

    • @als8518
      @als8518 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      those tracks look totally worn out, the should have much better bars. You would not switch tracks though, they are heavy and expensive, those just look like they need to be replace.

    • @ferguson20diesel49
      @ferguson20diesel49 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Al S we often switch pads here in Ireland. We just change the whole chain for a different set of chains. Wet bog land winter would put 3 or 4ft pads on and for summer normal work we have 28 or 30 inch pads as standards.
