    Bonjour Felicity.

    The French subtitles are really helpful to those who speak French reasonably well but have a bit of difficulty with rapid speech. The interviewer is working for a French audience, and may not speak English. They receive significant financial support from the gouvernement, so it is fair to keep French people informed. Bien fait Felicité!

      As most native English speakers may find it hard if not having studied the French language, it is a Francophone nation and it is only right to explain to the people of this nation in their language. The French state is also entrepreneur in this restoration,only right that the language used is French.

    What an exemplary approach that contrasts with the other relatively numerous British renovations in France that we can watch on YT today. Congratulations to this exceptional couple (Félicité et Tim) who saved one of our jewels, which, without them, would have soon disappeared.

      @@thierrymilan2039 ahh, I see. It may be because I'm in Canada that my subtitles have an English option.
      Regardless, it's actually really great I think that they're offering content for both audiences. I wonder a bit how the French feel about their heritage spaces being bought up by foreigners. For myself, I'm happy to see these works of art being saved and restored but it's probably quite different if you're French. I've always wanted to buy a château but I'm worried about what the reception might be like after the "second British invasion" 😉 Hopefully I will have the means next year, so I'm polishing up my horrible Canadian French. I'm happy to see that Felicity is as fluent as she is.

    • @thierrymilan2039
      @thierrymilan2039 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@LaughingInTiny ok, I didn't really realize that certains YT options depends where you live. About the feeling about foreigners buying châteaux or others French héritage things, I think people really interested about their national patrimony should know in French history, foreigners always investited in French buildings because they certainly planned to get something back. They also know everyone owning a vast domain must have a strong will (and a big bank account) to maintain it nicely, so these historic houses will go through the years.

It has subtitles, but in French for those who have hearing challenges. Purnon has graciously been provided grant funding to help with the monstrous costs of this project, and LIKELY part of that agreement is to provide some French content for the country THEY RESIDE IN. The sarcasm and snottiness is completely without warrant. Stop acting like children. Maybe thank them for a cultural window of opportunity to something new.

    It would be nice to see English subtitles too but even without HS French I can pick out a phrase or two and it sounds like they aren't saying much more than someone who knows about the period and subject hasn't heard elsewhere in all the Chateau videos. "Pheronique" seems to be a popular description for big building projects. .
