This song is so beautiful and so true for our family. Our son and only child, met his future wife several months after our much loved husband and father passed away from cancer. He would have loved her, and in my heart I just feel he had a part in bringing our son and his now wife together ... she is all and more that we had prayed for. He was the best father and he knew what our son needed in life ... and is always looking over us.

My dad died in December in a work related accident and I have a 6 year old Daughter. My dad owned a ranch in the middle of nowhere with horses and was a true cowboy. I, not so much and out of my 3 kids my daughter the youngest is the only one who was like my dad and her and him had such a great relationship I could see her sorta following in his shoes. 7 months later she is still missing him and talking about him. He even went by Papa. Everytime I hear this song it brings to mind all the time they will never have together and I break down. I love the song though. Thank you Chris Bandi for the beautiful music and to the writer for the beautiful lyrics. I need to go dry my eyes now.

I second that emotion! I have discovered so many great artists and songs lately that have touched my heart like this one or made me dance, laugh, cry, sometimes all at the same time. There is wide variety of songs that I've been loving. I'm going thru a really hard time for over a year caring for my sick brother 7 days a week. The music which I listen to thru my Bluetooth feature on my hearing aids lets me listen while doing other things. I'm sure you are probably into some of the ones who are my favs but in case not, check them out.. of course Brett Young is a huge star now and his music is so amazing, so many great songs, Lady being one in this same upper echelon as Chris Bandi's song. I love Kameron Marlowe's Giving You Up for its raw realness and his earthy country vocals. If you dont know Eric Ethridge from Ontario, omg, his song If You'd Met Me First had me in meltdown mode as I've lived it, as many have I'm sure. He's got a great pop country sound like Brett. Super songs, great production, getting ready to have his first baby with his darling wife who duets with him on at least one song I've heard. Cutest couple like Brett and Taylor Young. For the clencher and maybe the most beautiful song I've ever heard, check out David Nail's Forgiveness. Again I've lived it with an old "friend" who passed away years ago. I absolutely lost it when I heard this one. The melody and lyric plus his heartfelt delivery make this a song for the ages. He is one of the writers and he lived it for sure. Hope I turned you on to perhaps a couple you didnt know. Long text but maybe kindred spirits!😉👍!

My paw paw passed away the Friday before spring break of my Sr year in high school, I sure wished he could’ve met my girlfriend back then, now wife and he would soon be meeting his 3rd great grandbaby. Gosh I miss him. #canceristheworst

I just lost my aunt who was my best friend to pancreatic cancer. When she was first diagnosed three years ago, I dropped everything and moved in with her and my uncle to help her. I dropped out of nursing school, basically said goodbye to my social life, did everything for her, helped my uncle with giving her baths, stayed with them both in the hospital when she was in there, even if it meant I didn’t sleep for days. And the night before she passed away, I begged God not to take her. I begged him to just at least let her wake up and let me hear her say “I love you” one more time. It was a long night, everyone at the house. I just wanted some time alone with her to say goodbye and I told myself once everyone was out of the room I would go say goodbye. And I didn’t. Something told me twice within ten minutes to go say goodbye and I ignored it. The hospice nurse came out into the sunroom where everyone was and grabbed my uncle. He was in there for a little minute but then when he opened the door and I looked at his face I knew she was gone before he even said anything. I completely lost it. My heart shattered into a million pieces. I ran and ran and screamed and punched everything that was in my way. Just crying. Screaming why. And July 23rd 2020 will be 6 months. Half a year. And I wonder everyday what’s pushing me on. Bc I know if It wasn’t for her soul to keep me pushing on, I would not be here today. I wish I could tell you it gets better. But we only get stronger.

This song reminds me of when my dear Dad passed away suddenly two days after Christmas in 2003. I never got to tell him goodbye and how immensely I love him. There's not one day that goes by when I don't think about him. I miss my Papa so dearly. I know I'll see him in Heaven with JESUS someday. I heard this song a few years ago, but it hits so much harder now. I lost my dad almost 7 years ago after an extended battle with colon cancer. He actually made it to my wedding and the birth of my first son. However, he passed before my second son and recently, my baby girl. That last verse just hits so true. What a beautiful song. Hits me all in the feels tonight. My daddy has Alzheimer’s and it makes me think of him. Before he got to the point where he no longer recognized me anymore, he started talking to me on the front porch swing one Sunday when I was visiting. With tears in his eyes, he told me that he hoped I’d meet a man who would love me the way I deserved, that I would be happy, adored, and treated with respect.
