    Brother Hollis, you know how to live! And with your lovely helpmate that God has blessed you with, you’re a spoiled man by Nancy! I don’t know how your learned to garden and fish but you need to tell about that in a video. I’ve been craving crappie and bluegill for a week, got to go try and catch a mess. When it's mid January, in Maine, sittin' in a boat catching ANYTHING but a cold
    is pretty much "bucket list" material. 😄Besides, it'd take the whole weekend to
    cut the hole for the boat!!
    Next best thing is sittin' by the pellet stove watchin friends that took the time to
    take us all along.

    Next time you get out on the water is it possible you can talk a bit about how you findvthe fish on the lake. Also do you drift the entire day or anchor in one spot?
    And last can you show the rig and bait you use. Love your rod set up on the boat.

    Good morning Hollis.
    That was a great catch. Im a salt water guy myself but we moved to a place where there are many fresh water lakes so i decided to get my fresh water license to see if i could catch a few of these myself. So i went out yesterday with some small jigs and minnows but caught nothing. Is this to early to catch the croppie? Does the weather need to be colder. I live about an hour south of your homestead.
    Thanks Ed

    I always enjoy you show. I have learned so much from both of you. I have never tasted "crappies". How would you describe the taste? So far, my favorite kind of fish are the Whiting variety's. Do the crappies fillet nicely or are there a lot of bones in each piece? The fish that you fried in this video looks very appetizing.

    • @HollisNancysHomestead
      @HollisNancysHomestead  ปีที่แล้ว

      Crappie has a tenuous taste and almost sweet taste to it. We filet it so it had no bones, we also eat it whole without the head. Bones are easy to get out :-) Its our favorite fish.

    One day we will have a little speed boat so we can go out on all the lakes around here. I am hoping by the time we hit 60. My husband's friend takes us out fishing on the coast, but they have such low limits on the salt water fish here it is no longer worth the price of gas for anything but prawns, crab, and halibut. It's now cheaper to buy salmon in the store. But the lake and river fish are plentiful, with some being able to be caught year round and some having no limits at all. His friend would go on the lakes, too, but the amount of decontamination required by law here to take a boat from sea water to lake water and back again is so much work, it would take 3 days of scrubbing down the hull, making sure no barnacles or other sea life was attached, no plants, nothing. All told it's a real pain, but they don't want foreign species introduced in either direction. It's just not worth it. Very strict laws in my county and probably my state.
