I will never forget this day. 19yr old me watching this and holding a collective breath with all of NZ who were up early hours of the morning to watch this. My heart sank and church that morning was so somber hahahaha I think knowing it was a forward pass really hit hard, but alas… it was what it was, but I cant deny that that was a tough day.

Which pass was forward, the one from Traille to Michalak or from Michalak to Jauzion? Both looked as though they could have been worth re-visiting to me.
[EDIT] My bad, on a frame by frame analysis, it looks like with the first one, the ball leaves Traille's (#15) hands in a more arguably forward direction than it does with Michalak's (#20) in the second.

The current AB team can take a note from this part of their history. Winning a game meant so much for that team, and loosing devastated every player involved. The current AB's doesn't show that kind of passion anymore.

I say it comes down to the captain, and the high caps of the team. But mostly the captain…. He needs to inspire his troops and this is what McCaw did so well.
There was an earthquake that day in France that can still be felt today. This generation of French players in 2023 grew up inspired by this performance and the performance of Zidane in the football world cup 2006 which was the ultimate team player. Today the French rugby team plays as a team, with confidence and belief, this game and 99 was the foundation of the French spirit.
